This home was interesting. However it was not suited very well for us senior sisters between 62 and 74 years old. There was no main floor bedroom, even the 1/2 bathroom required a step up to use. Bedrooms were either downstairs or upstairs and then up again for for the loft bed and third bedroom. There was adequate seating in both the living room and the dining area which is something we really look for in a retreat rental. The outside yard and beach was good and we were able to use it. We always enjoy our time at our annual Sisters’ retreat so the inconveniences of all the steps did not keep us from having fun and enjoying our stay. Beth and Keegan were very easy to contact and answered quickly. They cheerfully were able to accommodate our arrival and checkout times.

We had an incredible stay! Our hosts were easy to communicate with and always responded quickly. It was the perfect setup for our group of 6 adults, 2 toddlers, and 2 infants. The house itself was clean and well stocked with many amenities. This made traveling with little ones so much easier. The real highlight was the private beach area. It was absolutely perfect for the kids, and we were thrilled to find it clean with not a lot of seaweed. We had a blast using the kayaks, fishing boat, and the fire pit in the evenings. We truly loved everything about this property and would absolutely come back again. Highly recommend!

The location of this property was great, and we really enjoyed having direct access to the beach. We spent a lot of our time outdoors swimming, fishing, and taking advantage of the waterfront, which made for a fun and relaxing stay.Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the house was disappointing. The countertops and floors were dirty, and there was sand on much of the furniture when we arrived. While the outdoor space was enjoyable, it could also use some maintenance, and the yard would benefit from a general cleanup.Overall, the location and beach access were the highlights of our trip, but the cleanliness and upkeep of the property did not meet our expectations.

Thank you so much for your review, Kelsey! We are truly glad you enjoyed your stay overall! The issues you mentioned regrading the countertops and sandy floors are not up to our standard of cleanliness and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. We strive for excellence in cleaning and would love to welcome you back in the future as these issues have been resolved.

We were in town for a hockey tournament. They allowed us to come early to drop off our luggage and they allowed us to check out late as we made the championship game. We haven't stayed in a lot of houses, but this was one of the good ones. Would recommend them if asked!!

Perfect

The house was the perfect size and very comfortable. The owner was very responsive when we had questions and was an awesome home base for our weekend of skiing at caberfae. Had pretty much every amenity and was one of the nicest places weve stayed at. Would love to stay here again next time around.

Quaint getaway on the lake

This lake front cabin is absolutely adorable. It has literally everything you could possibly need to make your stay away the best. It even had kayaks which was a lovely surprise. Lots of space for probably 10 people. I’m coming back next year for sure with more friends.

Where Time Pauses and the Heart WandersThis beach house is more than a stay, it’s a feeling. The sunroom wraps you in golden morning light, the porch hums with quiet stories, and the bonfire becomes a sacred space for reflection. But the most unforgettable moment? Coffee on the beach at sunrise, when the world feels hushed and infinite, and you realize you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.The owners were gracious and attentive, always responding with warmth. This place doesn’t just welcome you, it stays with you, long after you’ve gone.

Relaxing cottage getaway

It was a comfortable cottage with lots of space for eating around the table and plenty of space for our family to play. We loved being able to have coffee on the deck and watch the kids play in the sand and fish off the dock. We enjoyed kayaking around the lake, swimming and fishing. My grandson had a lot of luck with the bass and bluegill’s. It was a beautiful lake to spend our vacation at and was close enough to Cadillac to run in for supplies or a night out. We would love to come back and stay. The owners were very nice and answered all our questions in a timely manner. Even left us a gift!

Feb Ski trip!

Came to Cadillac for a weekend ski trip with our teenagers. Loved the cottage! It's about 25 mins from Caberfae but worked fine for us. The property is on a beautiful little lake and is a unique A-frame. Very cute. Only one minor thing that was a slight inconvenience - the drive hadn't been plowed in a bit so we had to do some shoveling to load/unload upon arrival and 4WD was a must to park in and out. BUT it is Michigan in winter so...Otherwise it was a lovely stay. The kids loved the bunk room and the loft. Danced and sang with the convenient Alexa. :) Coffee maker is spot on and we enjoyed the sunroom in the mornings. Communication with the host was exceptional. Would definitely stay there again!

Not swimmable, but nice beach

We were extremely disappointed that the water in front of the cottage was not swimmable at all. There was an extremely small (4x6ft) that was ankle deep where we could step into the water but the rest was covered in lily pads and EXTREMELY mucky (to the point you sink 12 inches). However, there was a nice sandy beach area to build sand castles and lay out. The saving grace for us was the two kayaks. There was a row boat as well, but no oars. The cottage itself was absolutely perfect for our group. We had three couples (one with a 7 year old) and we each had our own area. There was plenty of living room space, a nice dining area for all of us, and the washing machine and dryer handy for our 9-day stay. The owners were very accommodating and kind when we had to add a few dates, however, a welcome book or guide to the cottage would have been nice just to know how to work the thermostat, the check-out procedures, etc.

Hi Cindy! Thank you for your review and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and the home! We do want to clarify for future guests that the water is definitely swimmable and guests have been enjoying swimming out front for many years! 👍 We have purchased replacement oars so the row boat is good to go as well!

Enjoyable Stay

We were very pleased with our stay at this property. We were a group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children (ranging from 2 years old to 7 years old). This home provided plenty of space for our group to sleep, relax, and have fun! The older children really loved the loft room. The sandy beach was perfect for playing, and we had excellent luck fishing all around the lake. It was wonderful to have lots of little extras provided throughout the rental like welcome goodies, dish soap, hand soap, new dish sponges, paper towel, etc. There were two kayaks, a rowboat, corn hole, extra life jackets and sand toys (although we had brought our own) for use in addition to a well-stocked game closet. The location is ideal - the road and neighborhood were very quiet. For our group, the lake was not great swimming: our older kiddos weren't comfortable swimming out into the lake past the vegetation/lily pads. However, there was a bit of sandy space to wade in and let younger kids splash before the lily pads. Kenwood Heritage Park (less than 10 minutes away) js great for school-age kids to swim in. Still, we loved Stone Ledge Lake for fishing and kayaking. It was peaceful, beautiful, and perfect to wade in. The check-in and check-out process was easy, and communication was great. The property was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We would return here without hesitation! 5 stars.

Relaxing

Having lost my dad in April, and having my moms Alzheimers spiraling out of control, I needed something relaxing. Sitting at the lake literally seeing the fish jump was exactly what I needed. Peace and quiet was so nice.
