Heart of the Redwoods-Wapiti Cottage

Welcome to our Wapiti (Elk) Cottage, one of three newly renovated cottages available on our property. Come experience our beautiful Northern Coastal Redwoods in this beautiful, cozy cottage filled with all the amenities of home including exceptional cleaning standards.

This Cottage features 3 Bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen, 1 Full & 1 Twin), 1 Bathroom w/ Walk-In Shower & double vanity, Full NEW Kitchen, Dining Room, Laundry Room (full size washer & dryer), Living Room w/ 55” Smart TV, Fireplace, & free WiFi.

We are quite literally in the middle of the Redwoods! We are surrounded by our amazing Redwoods, parks, trails, beaches, & wildlife. We are right off the Redwood Highway. You will have access to the whole Cottage as well as the front & back yard. You may also go down to the creek behind the property, be advised it is fishable but no lifeguards are on duty. Feel free to enjoy our whole property. When in season, help yourselves to the many wild berries that encircle our property.

There is a fire pit out back & firewood is provided as well as a Gas BBQ & picnic tables. A baby high chair, gate, & Pack & Play are available upon request. We are tucked in the middle of the National Redwood Park & close to Fern Canyon and Prairie Creek Redwood State Park. We are 18 miles south of Trees of Mystery, 20 miles north of beautiful Trinidad with so many trails, beaches and lagoons in between. We are a great central point in all your adventures while exploring the beautiful North Coastal Redwoods while providing a cozy oasis to rest in between your adventures. Sometimes in our neck of the woods, we lose power. We now have a whole-house GENERATOR so your stay with us will not have much interruption.

Place was great, just as described in the listing. Everything we needed after our stay in the Redwoods. Be sure to get groceries before you get here, food choices are limited (pizza truck was great). Bonus morning visits by the elk herd!!

Wonderfull place in Redwoods

Modern 3 bedroom surrounded by redwoods and green space with a nice large creek sown a short path. Great for young explorers. The house is well stocked and modern yet it is surrounded by a campground feel. Beds comfortable and living room has recliner couches. Hose communicated well. Very close to Redwood nationall Parkand several lagoons. Lots of elk roaming in area.

Comfy cozy

We had an amazing time, from waking up to elk on the back porch to the most comfortable bed ive ever slept in it was an all around great experience. Charlene answered any question I had within minutes of my asking and was a great host.

Wonderful time in the Redwoods

The property was perfectly located to explore both the Redwood National Forest. The hikes were so close. We were even able to get in a quick hike before heading to the airport.

Quick getaway

The house was great! The property managers were on site and in the house when we came to check-in at 5:30pm, so that concerned us a little bit. The lady, I forgot her name, but she mentioned she was removing a dehumidifier and didn't know anyone was staying in the house for the weekend. She left right after removing the dehumidifier. The house is definitely right off the main highway; however, traffic was very light and the windows kept all the noise out. The two main beds were very high! They were comfortable, but you definitely needed to have some energy left from the day to get in them. Otherwise, everything was very neat, tidy, and comfortable.

Amazing Home

The property and location were both great. The house was as advertised with great amenities. Plenty of space for a family of 4. The property owners were outstanding and very helpful providing information about near by must see’s. The wildlife in the area was amazing we saw elk and deer daily.

San Diego family, 4 night stay in early Spring

Perfectly located for exploring the Northern Redwoods for the first time. So many trails and fantastic drives were all very close. The cabin is clean and well furnished, perfect for our family of 5. All 5 beds were very comfortable. Weather was cool, the home was easy to heat, great kitchen and virtual fireplace heater nice touch in the living room. Before our stay, we read an earlier review that mentioned highway noise. After reading this review I was a little concerned, being a light sleeper. I was relieved to discover that road noise was not an issue. Although The cabin is located right off the 101, which is a well trafficked road during the day. Noise from the highway was not noticeable, back bedrooms very quiet, particularly at night when there was very little traffic.

Cozy cabin amidst the redwood forests

We were four of us who stayed in a 7 person cabin, so it was very comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils and spices, there were board games to play. The place is literally in the heart of the redwood national parks and has an easy access to the hiking trails, the Prairie creek visitor center and the Newton B Drury scenic byway though the road was closed due to fallen trees when we were there. The only downside was the very high bedding in the room, though they had step stools to use.

Fantastic home away from home

Charlene and her husband were our property's managers. They were both incredibly responsive and an absolute pleasure to deal with. The home itself was very comfortable, roomy, clean and location very convenient. The items that were stocked in the house (coffee, paper products, cooking oil, etc.) were more than we expected and this helped us not need to shop the day we got there. The bedrooms were big and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and roomy and the shower was amazing! My wife and I sat next to each other in the side by side recliners each night watching television and they were so great, we are going to buy the same ones for our personal home. All in all, I would highly recommend this property and Charlene the property manager. We would absolutely book again with Charlene and her husband. Great job!

Long weekend with our dogs

The amenities were great. The home was very comfortable. The location was close to everything we wanted to do while we were there. We were well prepared with our own supplies and everything supplied at the home was spotless.
