Great spot on the beach! House very dated and dark but it fit our needs. Way too much furniture so walking around furniture was constant. Close to shopping and activities. Loved that we had a Friday/Friday ck in/out to avoid traffic. I forgot some personal items after checking out but everything was returned/mailed to me very quickly which made me very happy. Experienced my first Hurricane (Erin) so we weren’t able to do some water sports but we had a great time!

Great house in a great location

We used to stay for just 1 week, but in recent years we upgraded to 2 weeks because we enjoy it so much. The location on the beach can't be beat. The house and furniture are older and have a cabin-y feel. We love that old-school, beach house aspect of it, but perhaps some people wouldn't. The best parts of Pharaoh's Delight? The private access to the beach; the multiple decks, perches, porches, and outdoor areas; the open plan kitchen, dining, and living rooms; the shaded parking for 2 cars (and plenty of parking for other cars); and the views of the beach from the house! We love this place!

We love Pharoah's Delight!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our third summer staying at Pharoah's Delight. This time we stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. The property has a cabin-y feel to it, with amazing views from the decks, and also allows dogs, which are just some of the reasons why we love it SO much. Its location on the beach, with a private walkway/beach access, as well as multiple decks and a screened-in porch, make it the perfect place for a family stay. We will be back!

Great house and location

The house and location were great. Only issue we had was the checking and the lift. We had to pick the keys up in kitty Hawk so had to drive 40 minutes out of our way to get there and then 40 minutes to the house. When we got there the lift didn't work and were told there was a work order in for it. Good thing we had our young nephew with us to carry everything up the stairs. Didn't get fixed for departure either. Otherwise we enjoyed the beach access and close proximity to stores.

House had lots of space and very nice

I love the location and privacy of the house. There was a lot of space. What I had issues was with the check in/out process of having to pick up a key to make it to the house. They should be using the new lock boxes or new locks at the house. House wasn’t clean properly when we got there around 5:30PM it was still getting cleaned by the handy man it wasn’t the cleaning crew. Overall I think it was ok, but cleanliness was definitely bad. We had to clean ourselves to make sure we were good.

Reviewer Comments: The house is obviously an older style, and not as big as most others on the oceanfront in Whalehead, but the value for oceanfront cant be beat. We had an A/C issue in one of the bedrooms, and Carolina Shores was quick to send an HVAC expert who evaluated the issue the very next day, got owner authorization to do the necessary work, and had it fixed a day later. Unbeatable views. We loved the deck setup with the two separate crows nest vantage points,,the benches at the end of the walkway, and the fact that every outside access point to the deck had a gate, meaning our pups could stay on the deck with us and we knew they wouldnt be able to get to the road or the beach unless we opened a gate.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to the Outer Banks for over 20 years and have stayed in a lot of different vacation rentals. This was the most dated and dirty rental we have ever stayed in. I don’t mind a “dated” place if it is clean, but his place was not. We had to clean the kitchen and bathrooms before even moving our luggage in. That being said, the oceanfront location is awesome, and a week in the OBX with family is always great.

1st time, Definitely NOT the last time

Reviewer Comments: After reading some of the reviews on the age of this house, I was a bit concerned....and yes pulling up to the house.. it is clearly one of the older houses on the block! Surrounded by new(er) homes with bright colors, mammoth decks, 3 floors high that sleep dozens of people (and they have the price tag to go with it!!!!) When I walked into this "little" house, it didn't seem so little anymore. Plenty of room inside for 12 people to lounge around, at no time did we feel a lack of space. The floor plan and layout is perfect. You have basically 2 living rooms, a big kitchen with plenty of cooking space and seating for a very large family plus some. In addition, the screened in porch off the kitchen was a great place to sit at night and enjoy the breeze yet be out of the rain/wind. The structure of the house is just incredible. Felt like we were in a cabin on the beach. Nice hardwood walls and ceiling - very cozy! As far as cleanliness (we are very picky when it comes to cleanliness in any rental/hotel room), first thing we checked was bathrooms and kitchen...I was told they have a professional cleaning service come in before each rental and it sure looked like it, the place was spotless. Also, the appliances are all new or newer and very clean. The decks outside are also in good shape, with plenty of plenty of space to relax on the decks... and it's just a very short walk down the deck walkway onto the beach. There is a picture on the wall of the house from when it was first built.... it was the only house built in that area at the time...pretty cool looking around that house, wondering what it has seen and been through, Yet... is still in as good of shape as it is. Kudos to the management company, maintenance folks, and cleaning service!!! 5 stars for all you folks!!! And a special Thank You to the owner of the property for not knocking this house down and building a super house...There is definitely something special there with that house. We will definitely be back

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’ve stayed in this house on every visit to OBX for the past 20 years. It’s an older home, the first one built in this beach area. Some reviews say it’s dated or old. That’s part of why we like this house. It’s quirky and comfortable, but in good condition for most part. Furniture is recovered or replaced. Appliances are newer. It’s as you’d expect from the photos. The cargo lift added a few years back is a great improvement. We also love the new benches added at the top of the stairs to the beach. All this, along with Friday checkin, the best oceanfront location, and being dog friendly, is what keeps us coming back to this house. Wasn’t as clean this visit as in the past, but otherwise a great stay.

It hasn't changed at all, and it doesn't need to because it is perfect. A stone's throw from the beach (a life saver with small children), comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen. Love the recliners in the living room. Screened in porch was great for napping and coming in for lunch. One of the outdoor shower heads was missing when we arrived, I alerted the office and went to the beach. Wehn I went to shower at the end of the day, there was a shower head! We ordered pizza one night and the delivery driver told us he loved this house because it was one of the original ones and so much better than the new huge ones. We agree. Fingers crossed we can pull off another week in paradise, none of us wanted to leave our new home away from home! Thank you for this house!

Reviewer Comments: this was our second year staying at this home. we love that the home is "outdated" and that it is dog friendly. we had to reach out to the management company once each trip and they were quick to respond. this trip the cargo lift was out of service and we were not told that when we picked up the keys. there was a storm that came in that morning that probably blew away any sign they had up - not an issue just wish we knew before my inlaws attempted to use it. overall it was another great trip and may book again next year as long as my inlaws can still handle all the stairs.

Great Oceanfront Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the tenth time we’ve rented this house. In fact, it’s the only house we’ve rented since 2002. We look for several specific things and this house checked them all. Oceanfront, good location to restaurants, etc, pet friendly, and a Friday to Friday rental. It’s older and quirky, but that’s part of why we like it. The addition of the cargo lift a few years back was great, although this year it was not working when we arrived, which was disappointing. All new kitchen appliances in 2020 were also a great addition. Overall, this house is always clean, and pretty well maintained considering it’s age. We’ve never had any major problem when staying here. Minor issues have always been fixed quickly. We will definitely continue renting this house when we visit the OBX

Great location with private beach access.

This is an older home, NOT one of the many McMansion beach houses you will see in the neighborhood, but it IS a great, old-school beach house. It was just what we were looking for, especially because it was dog-friendly. Upsides: great location on the Outer Banks, amazing private beach access with a wooden walkway and gate, great outdoor lounging options with a number of decks and a screened-in porch, a wonderful living/dining/hang out space in which everyone could be together while still doing their own thing, great appliances (a double oven!), plenty of parking for our needs. Downside: we rented both the house and the lower rooms, and one of those rooms obviously hadn't been rented in a while because it was very dusty and mildew-y. It definitely hadn't been cleaned in some time,. We had thought to bring cleaning supplies with us, so we cleaned it ourselves and then left the windows open to air out the musty smell. If you have allergies or sensitivities, you won't want to sleep in the basement rooms. For the rest of the house, the cleaning was OK but we did find some sand on a table top or two. It is an older house, so as long as you set your expectations accordingly, you will love it. We have reserved it for next year already!

Great house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Another great year at the house we have rented for a decade. We were disappointed that the lift was out of order and had been for some time. This is a vintage property that is great for kids and dogs.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The whole family had a wonderful time. location was great. House was accommodating for our large group. The open floor plan was great it made it easy to keep watch over our youngest grand=son who is autistic. We also rented the owners suite which was very musty smelling. The owners should invest in a dehumidifier. Also we could not use the lift upon arriving i inquired about a key and how to opperate it and was told the panel was on the lift. It needed a remote which we did not obtain until weds.
