Rough River Lake Cliff Top Retreat

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil cliff top getaway. It's all about the panoramic and unobstructed water front views! Have a wonderful job time to rest, relax and enjoy the lake. This is half of a duplex with an open floor plan, a primary bedroom, a bedroom loft, a full bathroom with shower and a fully outfitted kitchen. Just step out from the family room to enjoy your morning coffee with a beautiful sunrise, evening drinks, or even dinner on the private HUGE deck overlooking the beautiful lake. A 5-8 minutes drive gets you to the Rough River Dam State Park and all their amenities.

In addition to the dedicated oversized deck with furniture, dining table, ceiling fans and a gas grill, the outdoors offers a fire pit and additional lookout deck that is shared with the other unit in the duplex. There's plenty of parking for several cars and even a towed boat in the semi-circular gravel drive. The community around the lake offers several fantastic restaurants, boat rentals, kayak rentals, festivals and activities.

I'm happy to host guests with 1 dog ($50 pet fee applies) with host approval. No cats.

There is no direct lake access, but there are plenty of options for lake activities close by. I'm happy to make recommendations for your visit.

For the security of our property and our guests, there are security cameras on the exterior of the building only. They do not film activity inside the building or the attached decks.

Please acquaint yourself with our cancellation policy. We always recommend travel insurance to protect yourself against unforeseen events.

Chrissy is a wonderful host, very responsive. Her house was spotless and homey and she had some nice touches like Kleenex in every room. Those little things help! I think the house is great for 2-3 people but no more. As the description says, the beds are double size, not really big enough for two average adults to share. The loft area is nice and cozy. It's a relaxing secluded place, nice to just sit on the porch and look at the lake. There's not much to do in the area except for boating/fishing. Boat rentals were closed for the season even though temps were still summer-like. There are a few short hiking trails by Rough River Resort. The neighborhood is easy to walk through and we even got invited for drinks. We drove over an hour to Bowling Green to see Lost River Cave. Closest grocery is 30 min away in Leitchfield. Quiet, rural getaway for a few days.

The back porch was everything! We stayed out there the whole time the house was beautiful!!!

Wi-Fi worked at the kitchen had everything we needed plenty of space to park the grill worked fabulous, chairs at the fire pit.

Million dollar view

We loved every minute of our stay. The views from the deck were fabulous. Beds and linens are comfortable. Plenty of towels provided and a well appointed kitchen. There’s a nice gas grill on the deck, and a stackable washer and dryer that work great. Plenty of parking for several vehicles, or a vehicle pulling a trailer. As stated, shopping is sparse so grab your goods in town or you’ve got a bit of a drive. It’s a cute, comfortable home and we LOVED it. Thank you, Chrissy.

Heavenly Honeymoon

This property was stunning!! It was clean, inviting, and well maintained. Our host Chrissy Lally, was so kind and patient, answering every question we had within minutes of messaging her. The view, the property location, and our welcoming host made our honeymoon seem Heaven sent!! I will, without doubt be looking to stay at this same location with our same host in the future, possibly for our anniversaries. Thank you VRBO and Chrissy for giving us some memories we will never forget.

Unbelievably Relaxing

If you're looking to get away from it all and want remarkable views, this is the place to stay. The property was clean, well-stocked, and communication with our host was outstanding. We were lucky enough to experience a full moon during our stay and the reflection of it across the water was breathtaking!

Didn't want to leave!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the view of Rough River Lake is unbeatable. Very clean, kitchen had everything needed. Huge covered deck had plenty of seating and gas grill. The host was wonderful, great communication including tips for local places & things to do.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE VIEWS/AND RESPONSES!

This place...is a slice of perfect heaven. Its quiet and perfectly placed in a beautiful area where i woke up drank coffee on the back deck and had the most incredible view. Phones were put away by choice...after a ton of pictures were taken of course! The owners of this place, i cannot stress how perfect and sweet they were. Never made me feel like i was a bother and believe me this was our first time going thru VRBO and she was so kind. Was so warm and totally matched the WHOLE asthetic! Listen its perfect but bottom line, you NEED to see it for yourself and i promise you will love this new, clean, beautifully, perfect peice of heaven.

Clean, comfortable and an amazing view!

We so enjoyed our stay here! The rental was one half of a duplex and more spacious than it appears in the pics. Chrissy was great to work with and super helpful. I would recommend this rental any time!

This little cottage is adorable, comfortable, and the views of the lake are superior. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We plan to schedule again and bring the hubbies next time. Easy to find and close to interesting things to do.

So Quiet

I'm not sure we have ever stayed anywhere that was so peaceful and quiet. While the view of the lake from "Rough River Lake Cliff Top Retreat" would probably be better in Summer, the view was still beautiful. From this cozy, casual home, we could see pretty sunrises, even more colorful sunsets, and people fishing from boats on the lake. There is no access to the lake, however, as the home is on a small but steep cliff. But the state park is only a short drive away. We enjoyed the rockers and other well-made sturdy furniture on the deck. We took walks down the quiet rural street. The unit was well stocked and had everything we needed. Plenty of hot water for showers. Wi-fi was good. My daughter had no problem streaming movies.
