Designed and built by world renowned artist, builder and ecologist Dan Phillips, this unique property was built to include recycled materials such as bottle caps for ceiling designs, broken mirror shards to form mosaic bathroom walls and thousands of decommissioned Texas license plates used as roofing shingles.

Such a fun place! The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds are comfortable. It was nice to have essentials available for anything forgotten. Would definitely recommend.

A very great location, just a short walk to the town square. Such an artfully and beautifully decorated place! The nice back deck and fenced in yard was ideal for us. The hosts are easy to reach and respond quickly. Highly recommend this gem for your Huntsville visit!

The Host Joseph were very helpful and the cabinet were very nice accommodate. When I come back to Huntsville the cabinet is going to be the first one I look up.

Joseph has created a unique, comfortable and welcoming environment for travelers. We stayed three days and each day we discovered something that reminded us of our childhood, a family member or an experience while younger. We appreciated how fully, and I mean fully, stocked the home was compared to so many other places that strip the kitchen clean every time guests leave. Forget a spice - they have it. Forget aluminum foil - they have it. Forget coffee - no worries. Each bathroom had available new travel size toiletries someone inevitably forgets. It was a two-block walk to the square and the back yard served us well. Our only regret is we didn't find this place four years earlier when our son started at SHSU - we were there now for graduation - as we would have traded every prior hotel stay for this home.

This was our second time here at the Cedar House. Host was extremely nice and responsive to emails. They left us a welcome baked good that was amazing. Cute Christmas Tree which made it even more inviting.

This was the best VRBO I’ve ever stayed at. HANDS DOWN. The attention to detail was insane. The way everything was thought of, from night lights to unique art, to extra toiletries to even leaving us a sweet treat/gift.

The Cedar House didn't disappoint. It is decorated in Texas theme and there are so many antique chochkies, it took us all weekend to find them. This house is walking distance to the square where there is shopping and food. We could also walk to SHSU campus on a nice day. There were clean, fresh towels in both bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and well fitted with fresh linens and fluffy pillows.The best part, was the basket of "forgots" in the bathroom; stocked with razors, hair ties, chapstick, etc. Your choice 1. This saved us a trip to the store for the smaller toilettries. While the kitchen was stocked with utensils, plates and every spice you could need. I wished for a "forgot" basket in the kitchen too. We were short on gallon ziplocks, limes, throw away tupperware and our basic condiments. My son has 3 more semesters left in Huntsville, I hope we can make it back to one of the houses in the future.

Amazing house & hosts

This was one of the cleanest, most accommodating property I have ever stayed at!! They have thought of every detail.The host were so easy to communicate with.The house is very unique and great location to be so close to downtown.I highly recommend this property
