Need a relaxing escape into nature while maintaining all the conveniences of home? Want to "get away" from the bustle of the city while being only a stone's throw from civilization? Then this beautiful, newly-renovated 3br/2bth house on Horseshoe Lake II is right for you! Just 9 miles from downtown Huntsville, this lakeside gem is in a wooded, secluded subdivision surrounding a private 51 acre lake of pristine, freshwater with no public lake access (no gas motors allowed)! Homeowners and guests only!

This home sleeps 10 (6 adults, 4 kids), has a very large back deck w/ bbq, a wi-fi connected home office w/ lake view, and a private dock. Sit on the dock's Adirondack chairs sipping coffee, lounge in a hammock with a cocktail, hop on the kayak, fish off the dock or in the rowboat, or just enjoy nature at its finest. No gas motors or jet skis are allowed on the lake (up to 7hp electric trolling motors only) so your peaceful time on the lake won't be disturbed. Then head to downtown Huntsville to enjoy the vibrant town scene and eat at top notch restaurants. Serenity without sacrificing convenience!

You understand that swimming and the use of all watercraft such as but not limited to kayaks, boats, and innertubes is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with these activities. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising from these activities and hold the owner harmless. You understand there are potential dangers that swimming and using these watercraft may present to children who are not carefully supervised, as well as the danger to any person who has health risks, those intoxicated or under the influence of any medication, or while pregnant. You agree to be fully and solely responsible for any accidents you may incur. You understand the risks discussed above and agree that you will assume all responsibility for yourself and for the consequences to those in your party. You agree to waive any claims arising from swimming and using all watercraft. All VRBO Guests in your party acknowledge and agree that they have read and understand this waiver and they acknowledge that booking constitutes a binding and enforceable contract between VRBO Guests and VRBO Host at Miller's Lakeside Retreat.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great little spot on a small lake. They have 2 kayaks and a little row boat on sight that can be used as well. Very clean and plenty of beds. I would definitely stay again.

Had a great time ! Great location away from town so nice and quiet but close enough for convenience! Would definitely stay here again!

Lake Stay

The location of the property is absolutely gorgeous. The home was beautiful and clean whenever I needed assistance on any questions I had I was able to get a hold of somebody through the chat immediately with no problems they even checked in the next day just to make sure everything was OK and I didn’t need anything.

Perfect Lakeside Retreat

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Our family rented this house to be in the area for our son’s graduation from SHSU. We had family fly in from California and this was the perfect gathering space. Plenty of room, a gorgeous view, opportunities for outdoor activities, and close enough to town so that last minute or forgotten items were easily attainable. We wouldn’t be surprised if once this gem is discovered, it’ll start booking up fast. Take advantage of it now!

Exactly what was needed

This is exactly the sort of vacation we needed. Peaceful, quiet & comfortable. My girls now want to spend every weekend here 😊 Ronni as a host was very responsive and helpful. If you are looking to spend quality time on your own next to a private lake, this place is highly recommended

Hidden gem

Cozy lake house with great amenities, thoughtful touches and relaxing vibe. Sitting on either the deck or dock watching the water was our favorite pastime. Only 15 mins to town/SHSU campus but feels worlds away. Ronni was attentive via text when needed. Will definitely come back. My one suggestion is a tray table to be able to set up a portable workstation in the den to take advantage of the gorgeous view when I absolutely have to get some work done.

A slice of Home Away from Home

This place was great! The house was nice with plenty of space for 4 of us. You could definitely have more people there and plenty of sleeping space. 2 rooms had queen beds with bunk beds plus a king bed in a different room and the house had 2 bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals and the living room had a nice tv with comfortable furniture to relax. The lake was low due to a recent drought and we did not catch any fish sadly but enjoyed sitting on the deck at night enjoying the weather and just talking. There was a pier as well and we even used the 2 person boat to paddle around and fish. Word to the wise, do not go too far if the wind picks up, we were adrift at sea and it took a lot of paddling to make it back haha. The communication with the host was quick, easy, and informational. This place gets 5 stars from us and would definitely go back!

Loved this lake house….beautiful and very well equipped.

Though our stay was only for the weekend, we enjoyed it very much. Boat riding, canoeing, tubing it was perfect.

GREAT HOUSE and amenities

My friends and I were in town for the Shred de Roots mountain bike race held at Huntsville State Park. The house was perfect for what we needed and had more to offer than expected. The location is bit out of town which was an initial concern but upon arrival was greeted with the perfect getaway. Quiet, clean, and outdoorsy. That back porch and dock were amazing. Heck, we even grilled outside!! Thank you so much for such an amazing weekend. We will return!

We're Eric and Ronni Miller and we reside in Cibolo, TX (San Antonio suburbs) with our two daughters and parents. We're both in the education field and enjoy having time to step away to kayak on this magnificent, private lake or sit on our dock in Adirondack chairs with coffee or a cocktail. We both work in the San Antonio area and participate in the daily grind like everyone else, but are blessed to have this lakeside escape where we can unwind and reconnect with nature. We're excited to be hosts and look forward to sharing this wonderful place with our guests!

This property has been a dream come true for us. It is just an awesome, peaceful retreat. We love paddling out on the lake in the evening and sitting out until the stars fill the sky. If we weren't tied down to our jobs near San Antonio, we'd be out here every day. Unfortunately, we aren't able to live here full time yet, so we thought we'd share this wonderful place with the world and let our guests enjoy this slice of heaven when we can't be here ourselves. The closeness to a large town with all the great shopping and restaurants makes the location incredibly convenient. Being tucked away in a private subdivision makes it feel like your a million miles from civilization (even though it's only 9 miles to downtown!) and submersed in nature. We're honestly in shock that such a perfect retreat exists!

This is a PRIVATE lake for HOA members only. That means no public access, no loud boat motors, no jet skis, and no riff raff! It is just peaceful nature, great fishing, cranes, ducks, turtles, and even pelicans on occasion. We're constantly updating and adding features to the property. A kayak is available to use off of our private pier/dock. Hammocks swing in the trees in our backyard. Wonderful neighbors often join us for cookouts on our back deck, and the view just can't be beat when sitting in our Adirondack chairs on the dock. A seating area is currently near the lake at the property's edge, and we plan to add a larger sitting area with firepit soon!
