Why the Beach House

Aside from the bedroom with twin beds, every single room of the south-facing Main House has unrestricted water views and French doors with private access to the decks. Wake up every morning to coffee on the deck overlooking the entire bay, from the pier to Great Island. In the afternoon, from the covered lower deck escape the sun and enjoy the views and near constant bay breeze. Or take a nap in the hammock or rock in the porch swing. In the evening, on the upper deck, enjoy cocktails and local oysters on the half shell followed by a cookout while watching an epic sunset over Great Island.



Entry Level Floor of Main House



The large kitchen has a beautiful stone island, gas range, wall-oven, restaurant grade Belgian waffle maker, and plentiful cabinets/pantry storage. The main floor, decorated with paintings from local Wellfleet artists, has an open floorplan with floor-to-ceiling windows giving you panoramic water views. The kitchen flows into the dining area which has a table for ten and French doors opening onto the deck. The dining area flows into the living room which also has French doors. The spacious living room has a two-story high ceiling and is centrally located for gathering.



The large primary bedroom, the only bedroom on the main floor, includes private French doors to the upper deck, and a king-sized bed. There is a spacious private bathroom, which includes a garden foyer, a lavish oversized soaker tub, a walk-in shower, toilet room (WC) as well as two sinks. The garden foyer is ideal for reading or escaping a house full of people. At night enjoy the salty beach breezes and sounds of the bay from your bed that is far enough away from the center of the house to help you get a good night`s rest.



Downstairs of Main House



Downstairs there are 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms (one bathtub and shower, one shower only), an outdoor shower, a second laundry room and a central TV entertainment room. The house is built into a slope, so the downstairs is fully open to the bay. The largest downstairs bedroom, which is equipped with a king-sized bed and a full-length twin trundle bed underneath, is well located down the hall from the other rooms which provides seclusion and has French doors that open out onto the lower deck. On the other side of the entertainment room there are two bedrooms. One has two twin beds with a partial view of the bay. The other bedroom, which has doors opening onto the lower deck, is furnished with a queen bed and a full-length twin trundle bed underneath. The entertainment room, which is outfitted with a large flat screen TV, games, and a sectional couch, also opens onto the lower deck. Walk out the French doors of the entertainment room onto the water/sun-proof lower deck to find a newly constructed screen porch.



Loft of Main House



There is an upstairs office nook and sitting area which is accessed by a traditional staircase. The towering view overlooking Wellfleet Bay will remind you what you are missing while your laptop is trying to pull you away. The loft/office is not included in the bedroom count. There is a futon in a sitting area adjacent to the open office.



Guest Cottage



The Guest Cottage, which sits behind the main house and above the garage, has a bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette that includes a coffee maker, microwave, kitchen sink, and minifridge. There is a loft with mattresses (not included in sleeping capacity) accessible via a pull-down ladder. The Cottage could accommodate a couple or a family with young children and is furnished with a four-seat dining table and queen-sized sofa pullout. Moreover, there is a Pack ‘n Play in the closet. The doors in the living area open to a mini balcony. In addition, the cottage has two dedicated parking spaces, providing in and out access.



The Beach



For your use only, there is a brand-new boardwalk that extends directly from the property, across a grassy salt marsh, to your own private beach, which is perfectly sandy, and the water is significantly warmer than at the ocean beaches (typically by 8 to 12 degrees). Note that the tides are extreme and at low tide the bay water retreats several hundred yards. The upside of low tide is that it provides you and the kids the opportunity to explore the stretch of the exposed bay floor. Shell fisherman, who harvest the famous oysters, will work on their oysters and clams at low tide. You are encouraged to talk to them, and maybe if you bring a $20 bill or two, you can buy a burlap bag of oysters.



Amenities for Adventure



The Beach House is equipped with several amenities to make your stay memorable. Take a leisurely bike ride to the Wellfleet Pier for an ice cream (bikes include a mountain bike, hybrid, and a tandem bike!). Grab one of the old surfboards and head to the ocean beach. Or simply stroll down the boardwalk to your own private beach and take out the paddle boards and kayaks to explore the bay and Great Island (part of the National Seashore).
