Great location and views but worn out

Everything was good for the most part. The property needs maintenance and some renovation. It's just worn out, from the deck (has soft spots, be careful!) to the interior and furniture. Non-functioning ceiling fan in the great room. If you're looking for an updated, new and shiny place, this ain't it. We had a little snafu with the housekeeping but it was taken care of. It's right up against the public beach access so there's a constant parade of cars on the street and people walking by. The houses are slap up against each other so easy to hear the other renters carrying on into the night. It served our purpose but we waited too long to rent something for our stay so choices were limited.

We talked about renting it again next year. The owner's may want to think about a privacy gate where the home actually provides direct access to the beach board walk. This is because we encountered people using the home's hose to rise off.

Great location, poor upkeep

The location is 5 out of 5. We’ve stayed all over OBX and this location is top marks. Right on the beach, easy access to the water, shops, and restaurants. The neighborhood is well lit at night for walking the dog etc. The house itself on the other hand is poorly maintained, I’m not talking about maid service or cleanliness necessarily - that was adequate. There are outlets not properly affixed to walls, many of the top floor lights flicker even when off, and there he decks are squishy. The top floor deck rail isn’t one to lean against so be careful. The teenager room is completely disconnected from the main house in every way. The rooms nice and if you have older kids it’s probably okay. The neighborhood doesn’t have a pool, so the lack of one at the house kind of stinks. The bathroom showers struggle to drain, probably from all the sand… but just something to know in advance. If I had known the above in advance I wouldn’t have rented the house and certainly won’t again.

Coast is clear

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Coast is clear is in a great location and great for pets. However, when we arrived there was a horrible sewage smell inside and was not taken care until a plummer could come-a bathroom seal had to be replaced and the plummer said the baseboard and floor boards were saturated with urine in that bathroom. There was a moldy shower curtain in another bathroom and we had to wait a day for that to be replaced. There was a rug runner in the kitchen that smelled like urine so we left it outside for the week. The rug in front of the sliding class windows had visible stains on it. Outside water was turned off, but that was taken care of as well. The management company was great with addressing the issues. The space was great and the kitchen was well stocked with dishware, pots and pans and utensils. This would be an even better place to stay if the furniture was updated in the living area. When you pay what we paid to stay there you do expect the place to be odor free and clean. We expected it to be dated due to the pictures which were accurate. Overall, our stay was rocky to start but once the smell issues and the moldy shower curtain was addressed it got better. The location and views were great.

Like visiting Auntie's beach house

The upstairs deck was our dog's happy place and we enjoyed people watching with him. As others have mentioned, this rental is in need of upgrades and maintenance. I would describe it as visiting your Auntie's lake or beach house that hasn't changed much since you first visited in 1998, mis-matched silverware, "well-loved" furniture, and assorted left-behind beach chairs. Brand new televisions everywhere, but we were here for the beach and quiet time, not cable and streaming.

Reviewer Comments: The house was in a great location, ocean front , right next to the board walk for easy access to the beach grocery stores and restaurants are really close, reality company was very easy to work with and communicated very well. Mattress need to be swapped out in all bedrooms, cabinets need replaced they were half broken when we arrived. The fifth bedroom is not attached to the house which is inconvenient. Overall it’s a nice place great location. , Just needs a few updates especially mattresses.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This place has great potential! It has lots of room and is in a great location. Overall, we had a nice stay here. The cleanliness of the place was our main issue. It was neat, but not so clean. The maintenance guy came while we were moving in to change the filters, so they were clean, but the vents covering them had so much dirt/dust on them, it would just fall off if touched--obviously no one cleans these. And there were tables in the other rooms that had not been dusted in a while. Trash under beds, pictures that had fallen off walls laying on the floor under bed and up against the wall. Furniture is not in the best shape (drawers, handles, etc) but it is functional. Rugs look to be old and well used. Formica Kitchen counters were wiped clean but many stains on counters that could possibly be cleaned with a more heavy duty cleaner. Way too many dishes in cabinets--not enough room for renters to put food/supplies. Most of the decor looks as though it has been there for a while and could be done without. If a little bit of $$ were put into this place to update it and have some good cleaners keep it up, it would be so much better. I loved the room that it offered for our large family. Maintenance staff were quick to resolve our issues.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had the following issues.1. The outside first floor was poorly maintained. The entrance to the 1st floor bedroom had not been swept. The floor was covered in pine needles and sand.2. The remaining area for washing beach items was covered in sand and pine needles. The sand buildup was so bad all the water used to cleanup had no where to go and created a pool of sandy water that covered a large part of the sidewalk and car port.3. Bed spreads had bad smell and we washed them.4. Grill cleaning brush was gross looked like it was warn out and full of hair.5. Carpets need cleaning. 6. Could locate a broom to sweep on bottom floor.7. Vacuum on second floor smelled like vomit.

5th bedroom dirty and locked

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The fifth bedroom is in the basement and has a separate entrance to the rest of the house. The bedroom was locked and the keys were hanging on a single hook with no tag high up on the wall. We initially could notLocate the keys so we called the company who had no idea any keys were involved. After hours on the phone with maintenance, someone was able to direct us as to the location of the keys. We added a yellow tag and key ring for future guests. The bedroom was not cleaned and there was sand in the beds. The guests staying down there for bit but something in the beds and had to go to urgent care for steroids as their entire body was covered in bites. The beach is busy. The location is the entrance for most of the neighborhood with people walking up and down all day and night. Noise from the public beach access is heard late into the night in the bedrooms. People were also setting off fireworks throughout the week late around 11pm. The views from the top deck are nice. The middle deck is just a view of the dune. It worked for this year but we will not be returning to this house.

Perfect location

I will say the beach reality is really on top of things when it comes to issues with the property! The house wasn’t the cleanest. It was very dusty on all surfaces when we arrived. Under the beds weren’t vacuumed and the kitchen cabinets weren’t wiped down. Other wise we would rent from beach reality in the future but probably not this property again. One more thing… the place was pet friendly however the back yard is not. Lots of spikey brush, be prepared to walk your dog in the neighborhood and on the beach your entire stay.

Deck is splintery and has lots of nail pops. Major issue was lack of handicap access to the beach. Had to drive 1/2 mile down the road to get my wife's wheelchair to the beach.Next time I would get a place with a pool.

This unit should have a keyless entry or a lock box to store the keys. That's the last thing you want to worry with when on vacation is keeping track of keys. Also, the one room is totally separated from the main house - you have to exit outside and unlock the door to access the room. This is fine for older kids or adults, but we didn't realize it was totally separate living quarters. If you didn't realize that when making your reservations and had a young group of children then that would definitely not be a suitable arrangement for your group.

Wonderful views of the water, short walk to the beach, kid & pet friendly, linens & towels provided and a great beach to hang out on.The house was stocked with all of the kitchen utensils that we needed and was spacious enough for three families (one with toddlers).The house had a few problems like a leak in the roof during a storm, mold on the shower curtains, a toilet that would run constantly sometimes, a yard that was basically overgrown and unusable and no baby gates in spite of what was advertised. These negative items, however, were minor distractions to us since the rest of the experience was very good.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home is older but OK. The great room is very nice. Furniture and appliances just OK. Washer and dryer are not in good shape.

Beach front walk out with great view

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Decent house to stay for multiple couples. I should have made a better review of the rooms/sleeping areas for my guests to be better off. One room is NOT part of the main living areas and set up for kids. For the outside areas there seems to be some poison ivy around. I'm not a "plant guy" but took the word of others. Some basic grounds keeping for the driveway would make it a MUCH better drive up. All in all I can say it was a nice stay for our week!@!
