Este acogedor y rústico refugio de montaña está situado en cuatro acres aislados en las montañas Blue Ridge. La cabina tiene una cubierta sombreada que da a un estanque sereno lleno de besugo y bajo y está a pocos pasos del río Robinson para una excelente pesca de truchas. Una unidad de cinco minutos lo llevará al comienzo del sendero de "White Oak Canyon Falls" o diez minutos a "Old Rag Mountain", dos de las rutas de senderismo más aclamadas de Virginia, con caídas de agua y rocas revueltas. También está a solo quince minutos de la entrada de Blue Ridge Parkway para disfrutar de hermosos recorridos u otras numerosas rutas de senderismo. Hay varios sitios de batalla de la Guerra Civil a poca distancia, para aquellos aficionados a la historia de su familia. La cabina está completamente amueblada con ropa de cama, vajilla, microondas, chimenea, etc. El acceso telefónico a Internet está disponible para aquellos que simplemente no pueden desconectarse. Very cozy. Great fireplace. Plenty of wood. Nice shower. Loved the seclusion. So quiet. Host was great. It was clean. Pine paneling & exposed rafters. Nice fridge and stove. Good to be off-the-grid for four days (no TV, cell service or internet). Easy access to Sperryville (which I love). Great store to buy good steaks, salmon, wine & produce. I bought my NPS lifetime Senior pass at the Thornton Gap ranger station (and Old Rag Day pass online). Hiked Dark Hollow Falls & Old Rag Mountain. Visited Big Meadows and Skyland. Easy access to White Oak Canyon trail, too. Minor suggestions: Bed was a little soft for my taste, some of the fixtures needed light bulbs or may not have worked.

The cabin was adorable, cozy, clean, and just what we were hoping for. No internet. No cable TV. Just the sounds of nature and the isolation we very much needed. I'd love to come back when it's colder and fire up the woodstove. The fishing was good early in the day. There were maps up of nearby hospitals, which I really appreciated, but also local street maps and guides. We went to an apple festival just up the street and it was delightful

This is a cozy and comfortable little cabin in a beautiful area with close access to the Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive! Loved the very private location and the pond out front! Perfect place to relax and unplug. Would definitely book this cabin again!!

Had a great trip to this beautiful area. Cabin was very nice & in a very secluded area -be aware driveway very narrow. Pond with nice dock & inner tubes…. but if fishing is important to you we did not have much luck & had several visitors who showed up during our stay that took over the dock to make things not so private. I definitely recommend the cabin for convenience to Skyline Drive & Charlottesville.

The cabin was cozy, private, and clean. We enjoyed spending time inside, offline, and fishing in the nearby pond. It's a great home base for enjoying Shenandoah and near excellent hiking routes. It was a great stay.

Very peaceful cabin immersed in nature, we had a great time. Was well stocked with firewood other essentials, which was nice. The AC did its job and kept the cabin comfortable inside during days with very high heat and humidity. Beautiful landscape lighting and retaining walls. Absolutely lovely during a rainstorm. Would recommend addressing a few minor items:‐the ramp at the top of the steps (by the screened porch) is incredibly slippery when wet, would recommend putting down some friction tape.-its probably time to put a vent fan in the bathroom to keep the air fresh after use and to cut down on the mold buildup.-the beds may need to be replaced. The one in the room on the front side of the cabin was broken when we arrived and slanting to one side with boards sticking out from underneath. The other bed on the rear side may need to be flipped, as it bows significantly in the middle. We ended up sleeping on the couch and chair. -a thorough inspection/make-ready might be due. Multiple fixtures not working properly (dripping shower, bathroom faucet spraying sideways, burnt out bulbs/lamps/outlets, toilet flapper doesnt always reseal after flushing) and cobwebs/dirt buildup that would take less than a day to resolve. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return, thank you!

Relaxing

Me my wife and my brother was so stressed from working we had to get away. Ive been looking everywhere to find a place that was right for us then we found the cabin with a private lake. The whole weekend we enjoyed being away from people technology and enjoyed being with each other.

We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back. Thank you. Cabin was nice. Quite and peaceful. Would come again and stay longer. Between my boyfriend and we caught 34 fish in two days. Slept comfortably. Loved everything about the trip.

Spent 4 days here with my fiancé and two friends , and we absolutely loved it, it was so relaxing and refreshing , the property is gorgeous Only negatives i have to say , if youre bad at following directions (which i was given) you end up on a very hard to pass road and will likely get stuck if you dont know what youre doing .. if you follow the owner directions properly you get a very easily passable road (like i said , my fault not theres but just for anyone in the future that makes the same mistake lol) also theres no ceilings on the bedrooms .. and definitely could use a second fan but all in all , it was an amazing experience <3(:

Great Escape

We spent just 3 short days in this cabin. The location is beautiful and so lush in the spring. The opportunity for some casual fishing in the pond was fantastic. We appreciated the air conditioner, full kitchen, and collection of DVDs.Nothing super fancy but a lovely spot for a weekend escape to the mountains.

A great way to unplug and relax

My wife & I stayed with our twin 7 year olds and 2 dogs for 3 nights. It was secluded and had beautiful views of the pond. No cell service or internet so it was great family time of fishing, hiking horseback riding, building fires etc. Wonderfil time

Great Location for some beautiful hikes in Shenandoah Park but you WILL BE 100% OFF GRID!!

This is a perfect location for getting within a few minutes drive to some beautiful hiking trails on the eastern edge of Shenandoah National Park. Everything about the property was accurately described. The setting was so peaceful and quiet. The only reason I knocked 1 star off was because the property is 100% cut off (as is the entire area) of any cell service. The house has no wifi and you can't get cell signal so you are 100% off-grid. Nowadays, I don't really focus on that when renting a property because I assume there is going to be wifi at the very least. So this one caught me a bit off guard. I'll reiterate that there was absolutely no false representation here by the owners, so this is 1000% on me, but just so everyone knows, you will be off grid.We stayed 2 nights and after an initial adjustment, it actually was rather nice: a kind-of forced disconnection that I probably wouldn't have signed up for but after it was done, was somewhat refreshing. They do have an extensive DVD collection to entertain after dark. The owners are very communicative and helpful and I would highly recommend them.

Wasted vacation

Evidently rustic means trashy, trash all around the property trees, falling all over the place, just waiting for the next one to fall through the cabin not as advertised took forever to get into the cabin because things were taken care of properly

The perfect Valentine’s Day weekend getaway

Our stay at the cabin was everything we hoped for. No cell service? Check. No WiFi? Check. Beautiful scenery? Check. Secluded? Check. The cabin is in wonderful, rustic condition. The deck and stairs looked fairly new and felt very stable. It was stocked with everything we needed, including cookware, towels, bedding, movies, and games. Using the fireplace was awesome and incredibly easy to clean up with the tools found onsite. Communication with the owners was seamless and prompt. Their instructions on how to locate the cabin were spot on. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Fabulous getaway

This was a perfect place to get away and completely power down. No internet, no cellphone, no TV. The property was cozy, clean, very well insulated and comfortable. We sent in the middle of winter. There was a really nice wood burning fireplace. The house overlooks a small pond. It was beautiful. It was less than a 2 hour drive from DC so very geographically desirable. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful getaway cabin

Perfect cabin for relaxing, unplugging and hiking the nearby trails! The cabin has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved that we could cook full meals in the kitchen and there were plenty of pots, pans and utensils. The wood indoor stove is top notch, we loved having cozy fires at night. There were some games, books and DVDs at the cabin which were great to have on hand to relax.The view of the surrounding area and stars at night are stunning. We enjoyed exploring the nearby towns and of course going to Shenandoah NP. This place is exactly what we were looking for- cozy, secluded, and romantic.The hosts were very responsive and kind, and provided great directions and instructions. We would love to come back again.

Jane lived in MD for several years and loved to hike in the VA mountains. She moved down to the Gulf Coast in the 90's but the mountains kept calling. She found the cabin and fell in love. Over the years she made improvements to the cabin and has enjoyed sharing it with her guests.
