Today, it offers a perfect blend of vintage charm and modern comfort—with original artwork from local artists, a fully updated kitchen, heated bathroom floors, and a dedicated office space for working vacations.

Step into the past with the original 1930s telephone still on display, a charming nod to the cottage’s rich history. Both the bedroom and office open directly onto a beautiful backyard deck—perfect for morning coffee, evening wine, or watching bald eagles soar and purple martins flit by. Just steps from Lake Erie, this cozy retreat is ideal for nature lovers, artists, and couples seeking peace and inspiration.

Maximum occupancy: 2 adults. Fur babies are welcome!

Communication was wonderful and access to many supplies if we needed them. Figuring out how to access the channels on the television was a challenge. We wanted to watch the Michigan-Oklahoma football game on ABC and never did get it there; so, we accessed on our computer.

I stayed for 4 weeks, so really got to know the place. The house is very comfy for one or for a couple that is really in love. It’s small but not tiny and is well-appointed. The street is quiet, safe and lovely. A short walk out the front door across the street to a Lake Erie overlook for gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Had a couple of small hiccups early in my stay and Gil was very responsive. I would definitely return!

Great Getaway

My parents were in the process of listing their home, so I wanted to send them on a three day getaway while showings were happening. I found Gil’s place and reached out to him as my parents both have problems with mobility. Gil answered my inquiry right away and told me about specifics of the home - how many stairs, ADA compliant toilet seat height, walk in shower, etc. He was beyond helpful. He made sure that the AC was on for them when they arrived and even left a bottle of wine for them to enjoy. He contacted me the next day to see if it was ok if he went over to mow as his landscaper bailed the day before. He wanted to make sure he didn’t disturb my parents. Gil made sure that their stay was comfortable and that gave me huge peace of mind. My parents loved the location - they enjoyed the backyard deck and frequented Vermilion’s little downtown area. The house was clean and well kept and Gil’s communication made the whole visit too notch! Thanks Gil!

A Gem!

We had a great time staying here-- had everything we needed. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Very quiet neighborhood. Great place to relax while sitting on the deck. Gil was a great host and so accommodating. We definitely will return.

Comfy Welcoming Cottage

This cozy cottage was the perfect place for a little “me time” between visits with family in the area. It’s nestled in a quiet neighborhood where I enjoyed morning walks. Next time I want to browse the small shops on Main Street. The home’s furnishings are clean and of great quality. Gill was also an excellent host.

Charming cottage on the lake.

What an enjoyable accommodation. The cottage is perfect sized for couples. We celebrated are 20th. wedding anniversary. The cottage helped us celebrate exactly as we intended. We especially loved the nautical decor!

Nice, Quiet Lakeside Retreat

Perfect size for a couple with all the amenities you’ll need. Quiet, with great view of the lake across the street, minutes from Showse park, and centrally located to everything you’ll need. Gil is super responsive as well. Thanks for a great stay!!!

Quick getaway

We love coming up to the Great Lakes. This property worked out great. We sat in the front yard and watched the lake and the birds. It was relaxing. The owner was very easy to deal with. We would stay here again.

Gem of a Rental

This was our first visit back to Ohio in over 10 years, and we could not have been happier with the accommodations. The home is in a great area and has great amenities. We enjoyed sitting out front and looking at the lake. Most importantly, the host was an amazing communicator. We look forward to staying again on our next visit to Vermillion.

Lake View

Very comfortable cottage with lake views from the front windows and the front yard. Convenient to Vermilion, several restaurants and supermarket. Host was super accommodating, letting us get in a bit early to unpack. Having firewood to burn in the fire pit was a bonus!

Cozy Lakeside Cottage

We loved our stay. Close to the lake and had a perfect view of the eclipse. The host was quick to respond to messages and very accommodating. Great hospitality. Would absolutely stay here again. Thank you!
