Take a look at all this new home has to offer during your stay. A fully stocked kitchen that will leave you wanting for nothing, super comfortable beds and plenty of linens, loads of space for everyone to relax and enjoy. Feeling sporty? Check out all the games in the game parlor in the fully air conditioned/heated garage to keep you entertained for hours. Want to relax? Catch the latest shows and games on Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN on multiple TVs in the home. Each room has a unique feel that will really make you enjoy your home away from home. The home has 5 bedrooms and 3 bath areas. We hope you enjoy House Divided as much as we do! (Disclaimer: Please note there are exterior cameras on property for your safety viewing the front and back yards of the home.) **Please note that there is currently construction happening near our property which may cause some noise during the day.

Great house for a girls weekend! We enjoyed the games in the garage and all the games downstairs. Had the perfect kitchen/living room space to gather and chat. Nice location and close to fun things to do around the area: dinner and drinks at The District and Polk County Pickleball. Would highly recommend and stay again!

This place is amazing. Super clean and great location. House is spacious and very tastefully decorated! Beds are super comfy The garage/game room was a hit with kids and adults! Kitchen is totally stocked with everything and then some! Forget something? They have you covered! It was perfect for our family gathering You all thought of everything down to sound machines in each room, games, extra toiletries Even games for all ages. Will definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful time staying at the House Divided!! The owners thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. So well furnished and lots extras in case anything was forgotten. The kids and adults had tons of fun in the game room and we also had lots of laughs playing games in the basement. The hosts were awesome to work with and we would highly recommend staying at the House Divided!!

This was a great place all around! Perhaps the nicest we've stayed in regarding cleanliness....accomodations....house space and layout for 8 people..... and for how stocked the kitchen was. Everything you could need! The game room was fun and the hot tub a bonus. Matt was super responsive to any questions. If you need a place in Des Moines.... check out "A House Divided"

Great Gathering Spaces

My family was in town for our Nephew’s wedding. House Divided provided perfect spaces for us to gather in between the rehearsal dinner and wedding. The hot tub was a welcome treat after many hours of dancing! There were plenty of bedrooms for everyone to be comfortable. The host was fantastic at communicating and has thought of every detail.

This house blew any other home we have stayed at out of the park! So clean, cute decor and amazing amenities!! They have really thought of it all!! Hands down the best experience. This home is fun and comfortable for those of all ages. Would recommend to anyone and hope to return some day!!

Amazing Place

Our stay at House Divided was phenomenal! The house was perfect for our needs. They even thought of the little things… multi-outlets on each side of every bed, sleeves and holders for the remotes, etc. It made for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. If our family is ever in the area we will no doubt be staying at House Divided again!

6 Star Experience!

Stop searching for other homes and book this one now! With 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, there's plenty of space for everyone. After staying in various places around Ankeny over the years, my friends and I all agree this has been the best one yet. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay exceptional—plenty of amenities, entertainment options, huge TVs, a fully stocked kitchen with extra appliances like an air fryer and crockpot, noise machines in each bedroom, and so much more! The beds are super comfortable, and the showers are fantastic. Plus, the location is perfect, situated in a peaceful neighborhood. We'll definitely be back here in the future!

Overall Great Experience

Great communication with property owners. Property had a lot to do with the family. Game room was perfect. Kitchen had everything if planning on making meals at the house! Close to Outlet malls, Adventure Land, and Des Moines. Overall great stay in Ankeny IA.

Wedding Weekend

If you get a chance to stay at the House Divided, do it!We were in town for a family wedding in Des Moines, about a 20 minute drive to the venue. We had our two adult children with their spouses and one set of grand parents. The house was perfect for our stay. Plenty of room to spread out, including a fun filled game garage and a full furnished basement with a large flat screen TV and a game corner filled with board games. Well stocked kitchen with cookware, drink ware, and dishes / flatware. Grocery stores and all kinds of restaurants are close by including Costco. The new home was spotless! The owner, Matt, promptly answered questions before our stay, and then checked in the first morning to be sure we were settled. This is one of the most comfortable and cleanest VRBO's we've stayed in!

House Divided EXCEEDED expectations!

You know how photographers can use lensing tricks to make a house & its rooms appear more grand than they are? That is NOT the case with "House Divided." The photos as presented on the Vrbo listing are a completely true depiction of the spaces inside & out. The house feels brand new, and it was SPOTLESSLY clean. Kitchen was full of all we needed to prepare our own meals. Decor throughout the house was clean & modern. The game room (see pictures!) was great fun - lots for everyone to do. The BRAND NEW hot tub was a big hit with our gang. It was already heated and ready for us to use. 3 full bathrooms easily took care of our party of 7. Though our choice of the Des Moines area was based on our having graduated from Drake U. (and, thus, we were having a reunion,) we're actually thinking of rationales to go BACK... just to enjoy House Divided! And, btw, the owners are very quick to respond to any inquiries, and they couldn't have been more helpful. I, as the organizer of our trip, was complimented many times for the choice of House Divided. Go and have fun!

Fresh, clean, fun and perfect

We absolutely loved this house! As soon as we walked it smelled clean, fresh and inviting. The home is beautifully decorated and stocked with every item you would need for your stay. The kitchen has excellent appliances to use (ninja, kitchen aid, etc) and they even stock the linen closet with extras like toothbrushes, sewing kits and more for your convenience. Such thoughtful extras! The game room is great for kids and adults! Also so clean and pretty for being a converted garage. The basement is set up with family in mind as well with tons of board games, card table, sectional and huge tv for movies. There is even a little board with pockets to put your phones to focus on family time instead of electronics! So smart!!!! The host notified us of an air conditioning issue in the garage before we arrived and had it taken care of first thing in the morning for us! This house is beautiful and clean, fun and conveniently located! The hosts put a lot of thought into making this house feel like a home to their guests. We will definitely be back next year!!!

We created this short term rental home with the premise that we wanted there to be activities for everyone to enjoy and the ability to split up into different areas of the home as you so choose. The term "House Divided" is a play on the rivalry between Iowa State and the University of Iowa. It's a phrase we see often in Iowa when both college teams are being supported under one roof. So, although the theme of our short term rental is "House Divided" we hope you and yours enjoy the place as a house united.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

This location was chosen specifically for a couple of reasons. First, the location provides easy interstate access, from two exits, to Iowa State activities, downtown Des Moines events, and Adventureland resort among other local amenities. Second, the north and east side of the home (the backyard and side yard) will be developed into a 6.5 acre Ankeny city park for future outdoor activities.

There are so many options for each person of your group to enjoy themselves. Not only is the garage a full game area, there is space for little kiddos in the basement to play, others to have outside area to enjoy, and a fully stocked kitchen that will allow every chef to be at home.
