Private Room in Capt Burrows Home~ not just a place to stay but an experience!
Step into Capt. Burrows’ Home (circa 1810), a storybook saltbox brimming with nautical character and classic New England charm. Picture the captain returning from sea and slipping goods through the old cellar door. Mystic history lives in these walls.
This listing is for a lovely private guest room in the Captain Burrows Home, ideal for a couple or solo traveler seeking a cozy, historic retreat just a 10-minute walk from downtown Mystic, with sweet water views toward Tufts Cove.
THE SPACE
Ay ay, captain! You’ll have your own private bedroom in an antique home with authentic seafaring roots—plus access to shared spaces that make it feel like a true home-away-from-home.
Home highlights
~ Private guest room in a circa-1810 historic home
~ Water views of Tuft’s Cove
~ 10-minute walk to downtown Mystic (shops, restaurants, and the riverfront)
~ Super fast WiFi
~ Cozy shared living spaces for relaxing after a day out
~ Outdoor areas to enjoy fresh air (seasonal)
Living & shared spaces
The home is filled with sun, wide-board floors, and original features.
You’re welcome to enjoy the shared living room for a cozy cup of coffee or a quiet evening in.
The shared kitchen is set up for light use only—perfect for simple basics like:
~ Fridge space
~ Microwave
~ Toaster
~ Coffee maker
It’s not set up for cooking full meals (no stovetop or oven cooking for guests).
The good news? You’re in the perfect spot for dining out. Mystic has wonderful, award-winning restaurants just a short walk/drive away, and I’m happy to point you toward favorites depending on what you’re craving.
Your bedroom
Your private room is set up for deep rest after a day of wandering Mystic—comfy queen mattress, fresh pillows, lovely linens, fluffy towels, and little thoughtful touches so you can pack lighter.
*Please note: there is no TV in the bedroom. (You’re welcome to relax in the shared living room if you’d like screen time.)*
ACCESS
~ Your own private 2nd-floor queen bedroom, plus light galley-kitchen use (fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker) for easy breakfasts and snacks.
~ You’ll also have access to shared common areas in the home (living room, kitchen, and outdoor spaces as available/seasonal).
~ Smooth sailing check-in: a Schlage keypad is on the back door for flexible arrival times. Your personal entry code will be sent the day before you arrive.
NOTES
~ Your private guest room does not include a TV (perfect for unplugging after a day in Mystic).
~ The bathroom is adjacent to your room and is private for your use only.
~ For peace of mind, the bedroom door locks from the inside. It does not lock from the outside. At this time, this is the only private-room offering in the Burrows Home, so you won’t be sharing the home with other room guests at this time.
NEIGHBORHOOD
If you’re here for the classics, you’re in the right place:
~ Mystic Seaport Museum (a must-see for maritime lovers)
~ Mystic Aquarium (make a date with the belugas!)
~ Downtown Mystic’s shops, bars, and restaurants—just a 10-minute walk from the house
Maritime “only-in-Mystic” treasures
Mystic Seaport Museum is home to National Historic Landmark vessels, including the Charles W. Morgan (the last wooden whaling ship) and the Sabino (a historic steam vessel). And when fall rolls around, Clyde’s Cider Mill, the oldest steam-powered cider mill in the U.S., is a can’t-miss stop from mid-September through November.
