Breathtaking log cabin on 35 private, aspen filled acres. Multiple live streams on the property, with trails connecting them. The sound of water can be heard from the front deck. Three mountain peaks can be viewed from reclining couches in the family room or in the six person spa. Endless night sky viewing. Reliable, fast WiFi. Close to national forest and 15 minutes from the adorable town of Westcliffe. Furnished in rustic, cabin decor. Come experience a slice of heaven. The space Our genuine log cabin sits on 35 acres, with a wrap around porch overlooking multiple peaks. The soothing sound of creeks can be heard from the Adironack chairs on the porch. We are 15 minutes from the adorable town of Westcliffe. In Westcliffe you can bowl, visit the Sugar and Spice Bakery, tour the historic Beckwith Ranch, meet wolves at Mission Wolf or drive by the mining ghost towns of Querida and Rosita. Westcliffe is designated a dark skies community. Bring your telescope for amazing night sky viewing! Access to the Rainbow Trail can be found 5 miles away, on Hermit Rd. From Hermit Rd we enjoy the beautiful hike to the alpine Lake of the Clouds. We are 1 hour from Canon City, the Royal Gorge, fly fishing and whitewater rafting. The nearest skiing is Monarch Mountain, an hour and a half away. Make sure to you do not miss Bishop's Castle and Lake Isabel while you are here. Inside the cabin you will find a kitchen stocked with cookware including crockpot, rice cooker, coffee pot and spices. You are welcome to use any non perishables left by past renters, but please double check expiration dates. All trash should be disposed of at the end of the driveway in the bear safe dumpster. We do not have recycling, so all trash can be mixed together. There is a large supply of board games in the dining area cabinet. Feel free to enjoy them. The main floor includes a laundry room, dining table, family room with wood stove, two bedrooms and a full bathroom. The first bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has two twin beds. Upstairs there is a loft with flat screen tv, couch and Roku. The large master suite has a king bed, sitting area and workspace with a desk facing the peaks. The master bath has a shower and large jetted bathtub. There are blackout curtains in every bedroom. The house is heated by radiant in floor heating. The logs keep the house well insulated. Leaving the thermostat around 65 in the winter keeps the cabin quite toasty. Cattle may be on the property at infrequent times. An invisible fence keeps the cattle in their secured areas. If you see cattle near the cabin or on the road please contact us immediately. The internet is fast and reliable: download speed of 22.5 Mbps and upload speed of 2.8 Mbps. My husband is able to hold virtual meetings while our three teens stream movies on their phones. There is a Traeger grill on the deck. Please brush the grill after each use. There are pellets for the Traeger in the pantry. If you need help with its use my husband has created a You Tube video with directions. The url for the video can be found inside the house manual that is located on top of the piano. Guest access Private use of the cabin- two bedrooms, one full bath on the first floor and large master suite with bathroom on the top floor. Office desk set up in master suite with view of mountain peaks. Other things to note Wildlife: You may encounter bear, deer, bobcats, elk, bats, mice and others as we live in a rural setting. Please do not leave the door open at anytime. Please close the solid door over the screen door at nighttime, as well as any large first floor windows, so a bear does not enter the home. There is a grill and dining area on the back deck. Please do not leave food or trash out in this area.
We have professional monthly pest and mice abatement, but this is a country setting. We regularly seal the log cabin but moths can make their way inside in early summer and flies in late summer.
Pets: We have a NO PET policy. We aim to preserve a pristine, meticulously kept cabin that will be appreciated by many. If pets are seen on security camera review, a $500 fee will be charged.
4WD recommended: The driveway will be plowed if there is more than 9 inches of snow. From Nov- April you should travel with a 4wd vehicle and shovel in case you get stuck. We are not responsible if you get stuck and our crew will not be able to assist. Security cameras: There are three cameras on the outside of the cabin and property.
Fire risk: NO smoking on the property or inside the cabin. NO open fires allowed on the property. There is a wood burning stove fireplace in the family room and ample firewood on the porch. Please do not dump coals or ashes outside, as this is a fire risk. The cleaning crew will properly dispose of the ashes. There are fire extinguishers under the kitchen sink, near the fireplace and on the landing of the upper floor. Please see posted fire evacuation routes inside the front door.
Damages: If a guest causes any damage to the property, or its contents, guest authorizes owner to deduct cost or repairs/replacement from the security deposit. All damages should be reported to the owner before check out so repair/replacement can be arranged before the next check in. Any missing, damaged or stained inventory will be deducted from the security deposit as the property manager does a complete review upon check out. Please do not take extra supplies home. A message will be sent to a guest prior to any deductions from the security deposit.
Safety: We work our best to keep everything in perfectly functioning order. We aim to treat you as we would treat family. There are some things outside of our control, however. We cannot be held responsible for any injury, illness or accident that may occur on the property. Please use caution when walking around the property. There may be icy patches in the winter. There are several streams across the property. Small children must be watched at all times.
Well water: We have our own well and ask that you conserve water whenever possible. The water from the refrigerator is filtered. The property is on a septic system. Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper. There is no garbage disposal. Please dispose of all food particles in the trash can.
ATVs: You are welcome to bring a trailer with ATVs but please do not drive ATVs on the property. The closest access to the National Forest and the Rainbow Trail is 5 minutes away, off of Hermit Road (Co Rd 160). There is parking off of Hermit Road and ample space to de-trailer an ATV there. No RVs allowed on the property without prior permission. Please let us know if you will have more than two vehicles on the property.
