This cabin exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable, warm and inviting. It has everything for everyone. Big enough for a large group. The host was very kind and receptive. I’d recommend this cabin who’d like a great experience in the foothills.

The host David is great! Lots of communication to make sure we had everything we needed and very quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. The Den was clean, warm, inviting, and most importantly relaxing. I can't praise this host and location enough. Everything for our extended family visit was great. Don't hesitate to book this one! We stayed over Thanksgiving week 2025 and were able to easily cook up Thanksgiving dinner in the well stocked kitchen. We will definitely be back.

Dave's Den is a spectacular cabin nestled in the beautiful forest near Big Trees state park and Bear Valley. It really was a perfect spot for our family group of 7 to have an autumn getaway. The house is very comfortable with plenty of space to spread out and then gather together around games, playing pool, cooking, or watching tv. We loved the bear and forest animal decor and each room had so many thoughtful touches. The beds are super comfortable. The loft area was spacious and we had a lot of fun at the pool table, and even tried out the drum set! Kitchen was well stocked and we did all our cooking at the house. Dave is a very responsive host. We even had a brief power outage but the generator kicked in to where we didn't even notice it. This is definitely one of our better experiences with a vacation rental and we hope to come back!

Book this one now! Super clean. Zero bugs. Super nice layout, upstairs game room is awesome! Host has all the extra’s included unlike some other places. (Beach towels, salt pepper, cooking oil, butter etc) also the host doesn’t skimp on toilet paper/ soap shampoo. 10/10 will stay again.

Wonderful family vacation!

We had a wonderful time playing games, hanging out, fishing hiking, using the pool. Highly recommend Dave’s Den. Dave was extremely helpful prior to and during our stay. He was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had and made everything just right. He really does want his guest to feel welcome and have a nice time. We will be back!

Absolutely loved our stay. Communication with Dave was great from booking through check out. Traveled with family and we were so pleased with all of the amenities. Dave truly thinks of everything from the well stocked kitchen to the loft filled with entertainment. Highly recommend!

We had a small family reunion with three generations--from 3-70 yrs old. Dave's house was a fit for all. We especially appreciated the extremely well-stocked kitchen--from tools and utensils to staples and treats. It made fun family meals convenient and enjoyable.The surrounding area was peaceful and gorgeous. And, of course, the location is just the best home base for day trips to lakes, hikes, caverns and Columbia old west fun. Great stay!

Great time

We had a nice time in this property. Weather was very nice even though it was peak summer. The property is surrounded by trees and that helped to stay cool in the night. Lot of games to play in the house, community swimming pool and outdoor games nearby.

My brother and our nephew stayed at Dave’s Den for two nights and had a wonderful time. The cabin is in excellent condition and well furnished. Our main goal was to visit nearby Union reservoir and we could not find a decent map on-line. We were very pleased to find a map in the entry way that included the remote roads we needed to get there. The surrounding area is very scenic and peaceful. It was an absolute pleasure listening to the wind in the trees and having a drink while barbecuing. It’s too bad our younger brother had to bail out of the trip at the last minute. He was a drummer high school and would have enjoyed the very nice set of electronic drums in the loft next to the pool table. Anyway, if I ever return to the area, Dave’s Den will be my first choice for lodging. The photo shows my brother losing to me in a game of 8-ball.

Splendid!!!

Can’t say enough about how great our stay was at Dave’s Den. Super clean inside, plenty of space for two families with big kids and room to spare. The bonus room with the poker table, pool table, darts, and drum set were so awesome, and not just for the kids. It’s about a 35 minute drive to Bear Valley for skiing. Leaving by 8:15 gets you to the slopes by 9:00 in plenty of time. Dave was extremely communicative and even left us surprise welcome treats. We would definitely come back. Thanks for everything, Dave.

Great Stay & Great Host!

David could not have been a better host! He was understanding and very communicative throughout the entire process. The cabin was thoughtfully furnished with so many games, kids toys, and even an electronic drum set. Our two boys loved playing with all the toys, and the legos and building sets kept them busy for days. We also used the winter tubes and sleds provided by David to go sledding. We will definitely go back next year and are already looking forward to it!

Dave was super communicative. Very easy to deal with, very helpful and available. We didn’t need him for anything at all, from the time we booked until we were in the cabin he was available. He even checked in to make certain all was well. And it was, even better than the listing suggested.

Great for families!

My family loved this home! The area is beautiful, there's lots to do nearby. We went to the recreation center for a bit to swim but it was too crowded. What else would you expect on labor day weekend though, right? However, the house was so fun that the kids didn't even care! They hardly wanted to leave. The game room was a hit, there were activities and games for all ages. We had ages 5-73 and there was plenty to do for everyone. Everything was very clean and beautiful and the kitchen was fully stocked with the essentials. All in all, it was a wonderful labor day weekend and we can't wait to go back sometime!

Wonderful family summer vacation

We had a wonderful summer vacation in this house. It is in a very quiet and cozy location with incredibly friendly people. A community pool with free access for renters is a 10-minute walk away. White Pines Lake, which has a sandy beach, playground, and basketball/tennis courts, is just a 15-minute drive away. Lake Alpine and Spicer Meadow Reservoir are about a 40-minute drive away, but they are worth a visit for those who love exploring rocky islands. Calaveras Big Trees Park and many trails are nearby. The house was very clean and well-prepared for our arrival. In the kitchen, you will find all the necessary appliances and dishes, including a coffee maker, dishwasher, and an oven with an air fryer. Everything is in perfect condition, so cooking was a pleasure! The loft has a huge space filled with games for everyone. All the bedrooms have new beds, and the bathrooms are fully equipped with all necessary accessories. Note that the internet is quite weak during business hours, and no coverage from AT&T or T-Mobile. There is no AC, but even when the forecast says 95°F outside, the house only warms up to 80°F. The owner responded quickly to our messages, and our stay was hassle-free. We really liked it, so we will definitely come back.

Lovely Cabin

This neighborhood has cabins that are larger than Arnold, and further apart. Camp Connell is slightly higher elevation than Arnold and stays cooler, it also will get more snow in the Winter

Big Trees Village is a big amenity - there are 10 passes for the guest. You can walk their or short drive. They have two pools, all sorts of courts and games and picnic area. Great place to cool off.
