Peaceful and serene location near great hiking

Great location and plenty of room for 3 couples. Clean and well equipped with everything you need. Quiet location where you can hike right from the house. Dog friendly too! Very much enjoyed our stay and would stay there again

Great Mountain Escape

The home and property were perfect for our vacation. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. I will say that it takes about 30 minutes (in the summer) to get down the mountain to any stores. Not a negative but just be prepared. We enjoyed the drive and there are trails on the mountain nearby to hike and enjoy. I highly recommend this home to get away from it all!

Beautiful Subalpine Mountain home in a rather remote location .

I was surprised by how clean and well furnished the home was, as well as it's very remote location. The access road is quite bumpy, so drive with caution. It takes you all the way up the mountain, amidst the snowcapped mosquito range and several 14ers including the legendary Quandary Peak and Mount Democrat. The surrounding wilderness is Subalpine Fir/Spruce Forest with plenty of wildlife. During our stay we viewed White Tailed Deer, Moose, Chickarees, Golden Mantled Grounds Squirrels, Chipmunks, Mountain Bluebirds, Hummingbirds and Woodpeckers. Some very nice unexpected amenities such as a complimentary bottle of wine and several games including a poker table and interactive family games. All in all a very nice getaway property with clean comfortable minimalist decor. Our only concern was the long, bumpy and heavily grated road requires a little bit of patience for smaller vehicles. Nonetheless it's is an amazing rocky mountain getaway location that's well worth the rate. Thanks Steve 👍

My goal is simple: I want you to leave feeling like you got more out of your trip than you expected, and I'd love to host you.

We chose Valley of the Sun because it gives the best of both worlds: total mountain peace and quiet, with real convenience close by. The property sits tucked into a forest of pines and aspens, with views toward Pennsylvania Peak and quick access to hiking, biking, and cross-county skiing right out your door, so you'll likely spot deer, elk, moose, bear, or other wildlife wandering through during your stay. It's genuinely quiet here, the kind of quiet that makes mountain trips feel like a real reset.

At the same time, you're only about 10 minutes from the town of Fairplay for groceries, dining, and local charm, and roughly 40 minutes from Breckenridge if you want world-class skiing, hiking, or biking. We also love how close it puts you to fly-fishing and off-road 4WD trails for the more adventurous days. It's a neighborhood that lets you unplug without giving up easy access to everything South Park and Summit County have to offer, and that balance is exactly why we fell in love with it ourselves.

Chalet la Chouffe is a genuine mountain basecamp, not just a place to sleep between activities. It sits on 1.5 private acres tucked into the pines, so you get real space and quiet between you and the neighbors, something that's surprisingly hard to find in a lot of mountain rentals. Inside, you've got multiple fireplaces to gather around after a day outside, an open kitchen, living, and dining layout that's ideal for groups who actually want to spend time together, and a downstairs game area with a foosball table and game table for the nights you'd rather stay in. At over 2,600 square feet with room to comfortably host family and friends, it's built for gathering, not just crashing.

What really sets it apart, though, is the location. You're perched below the Mosquito Range with views toward 13,000-foot peaks, surrounded by National Forest, and close enough to wildlife that spotting moose, deer or elk from the deck is a real possibility, not a brochure promise. And unlike a lot of secluded mountain properties, you're not sacrificing convenience for that seclusion: Fairplay's shops and restaurants are 10 minutes away, and Breckenridge's skiing and mountain biking are only 40 minutes out. It's the rare property that gives you a true escape and easy access to everything, at the same time.
