Esta fantástica casa está situada en un pueblo tradicional en la isla de Pico en las Azores, con todas las comodidades para disfrutar de unas vacaciones inolvidables.

Reconstruido con la comodidad de nuestros visitantes en mente, este es un lugar ideal para sus vacaciones en las Azores.

La casa debe su nombre a una enorme figura que existía dentro de la casa mientras se encontraba en ruinas, que ocupa toda la zona de la cocina.

En el proceso de reconstrucción del árbol retirado desde el interior, pero hoy en día la higuera que crece de nuevo en el exterior de la casa, ofreciendo a finales de septiembre las figuras de excelente calidad


Acerca de la casa: Esta fantástica casa está situada en un pueblo tradicional en la isla de Pico en las Azores, con todas las comodidades para disfrutar de unas vacaciones inolvidables.

La casa fue restaurada a pensar en la comodidad de sus visitantes, claramente el magnífico paisaje que rodea el área y con un impressiveview sobre el océano.

La casa debe su nombre a una enorme figura que existía dentro de la casa mientras se encontraba en ruinas, que ocupa toda la zona de la cocina.

Actividades para sus vacaciones: Estamos a sólo 5 minutos a pie de las piscinas naturales, donde se puede disfrutar de un mar fantástico, y 30 minutos de un parque forestal de gran belleza.

Estamos ubicados a 20 minutos del pueblo de Lajes de Pico, donde puedes encontrar diversas actividades como el buceo, avistamiento de ballenas, paseos de la caminata, subir a la montaña, la pesca deportiva, y un placer para disfrutar de todo el potencial de las islas de las Azores en sus vacaciones de ensueño '.

Sobre la isla de Pico y Calheta de Nesquim: la isla de Pico le ofrece un paraíso perdido donde la naturaleza es el elemento principal, donde puede recuperarse de un año de esfuerzo y trabajo, y disfrutar de diversas actividades en la naturaleza

La casa surge de la revitalización de una ruina que después de más de 30 años de abandono, fue recuperado por completo ganando una nueva vida, con tres habitaciones disponibles para los huéspedes. Para la reconstrucción, se utilizaron materiales locales, la incorporación de la casa y el magnífico paisaje que rodea el área de bodegas.

Tierra de Tradición y Cultura, permite encontrar historias de otros tiempos, sobre la vida en Pico, la montaña, la pesca de ballenas. No se sorprenda con una invitación a probar el vino en una antigua casa de campo .... disfrutar de la sencillez y afecto y volver con una sonrisa.

Schönes Haus, in sehr schöner Lage mit super Ausblick von der Terrasse direkt auf das Meer!

Alle Gerätschaften vorhanden, Dusche etwas klein und umständlich aber ok. Lage, Ruhe und Ausblick sind perfekt! Ich würde wieder buchen.

Toller Urlaub Danke Maria für die Zeit in Deinem schönen Ferienhaus

Das Ferienhaus war in TIP TOP Zustand. Alles Sauber und aufgeräumt.Jedes Schlafzimmer mit eigenem Entfeuchter für den Fall der Fälle.(Haben wir nicht gebraucht) EIn Elektroheizkörper wäre ebenso vorhanden.(Haben wir nicht gebraucht.) Die Küche mit allem ausgestattet.(Müsst halt auch in die vielen Schubladen und den nicht mehr benutzten Kamin schauen:)).Selbst ein Riesentopf für unsere Langusten direkt und frisch vom Hafen war vorhanden.Einzigst ein Kaffefilteraufsatz und die dazugehörigen Filtertüten fehlten. DIe waren aber auch in ganz Pico nicht aufzutreiben. (Also mitnehmen wenn der gute Sicalkaffe aufgebrüht werden soll)Der 4-Flammengasherd ist gewöhnungsbedürftig und nix für Kinderhände,hat uns aber für unsere Rinderfilets Langusten und Spaghetti..... gereicht.)Selbst ein gut ausgestattetes Nähkästchen habe ich am letzten Tag nett drappiert entdeckt.Das WLAN funktionierte einwandfrei.EIn CD Spieler mit Radio ist auch da und selbst CDs mit Rockmusik sind vorhanden. (WIr hatten uns am FLughafen bereits eine eigene AzorenlokalmusikCD gekauft die uns die schönen Abende auf der überdachten Terrasse beschallte ) DIe 3 Schlafzimmer sind sauber und nett eingerichtet und haben je eigene Duschen und Toiletten.Duschen sind etwas klein reicht aber.Die Betten auch etwas schmal für ein Doppelbett. Reicht aber.(Man ist ja endlich im Urlaub::). Das Zimmer im Obergeschoss ist das "Materzimmer" und sehr gross. Badehandtücher waren im Überfluss vorhanden.Die Betten wurden von den Hausherren einmal neu bezogen.Kinderbett/Laufstall waren im oberen Zimmer bereitgestellt. Es gibt einen Raum im EIngangsniveau der mit einer Wachmaschine und allem möglichen Werkzeug austgestattet ist. Die Terassen und der Grillplatz haben eine perfekte Ausrichtung zum Atlantik mit schönem Blick über das abfallende Gelände und lassen keinen Wunsch offen.Wir haben mit unserem Fernglas (Nikon bis 20 fache Vergrösserung) im Wechsel die Delfine und Wale begeistert beobachtet. Selbst mit blossem Auge waren Sie zu erkennen. Die Hausherrin fragte gelegentlich ob alles in Ordnung ist.Wir waren wunschlos glücklich. Der hauseigene Stellplatz direkt am Haus ist für ein Mietauto ausreichend.Unser 2. Mietauto konnten wir etwas weiter unten in einem Nebenweg abstellen. Zu Fuss (15 Min) oder mit dem Auto(5 Min) gibt es "unten" am Atalntik die POCOBAR (auch Essen) und einen tollen Naturbadepool. nochmals vielen lieben Dank von uns allen.(Wir waren 4 Erwachsene und ein Kleinkind).

So disappointed! Only 2 rooms, not 3. Deceitfull

The house location was good, the village and the natural pool very nice. *****BUT****** the house was not at all the one described. Only 2 rooms instead of 3 announced ! The third room behind the house was closed and, when we found the key, what a surprise ! A very bad surprise ! It seems to be abandoned for several years. All inside was so wet, moldy and dirty. There were old and used sheets on the bed.... it was awfull ! The ground floor front bedroom's shower was dirty, we had to wash it to be able to use it and the room was very wet. We met nobody during all the week ; only an old woman the first day who didn't speak english at all. We felt we were note expected and that the house was no more rent for a long time. What a disappointment for us ! All was perfect in the Azores except this house.*** Please, avoid it.*** There are plenty other nice places.

Quiet paradise, views to die for, serine swimming hole

This place was wonderful. We arrived to a basket filled with fresh bread, cheese, wine, and jam. They were all delicious. The views were magnificent! The location was perfect for those looking to get away from it all. There's the best swimming hole right down the street about a 1 min drive. The swimming hole has bathrooms, a slide, and a bar. I have nothing negative to say about this place. I wish I could live there.

Belle vue, mais prestation a revoir

Si nous avons apprécié la vue sur caletha do nesquim, et l'appartement en haut, en revanche, l'humidité et l'absence de ménage dans la chambre du bas nous a fait regretter cette location. vu le prix demandé, c'est inacceptable. nous avons eu tout loisir d'admirer des blattes se baladant le long du mur, surement suite au grand nettoyage que nous avons fait en bas. Bref, le cadre était idéal, mais le reste... Je ne recommande pas.

Ein Ort zur Entschleunigung

Das Haus liegt in einem abgelegenem, jedoch sehr schönen Teil von Pico. Das Haus lebt von der tollen, überdachten Terrasse, mit einem grandiosen Blick auf das Meer, von dem man aus Wale und Delfine beobachten kann. Beachten sollte man, dass man bis Madalena ca. 1 Stunde unterwegs ist. Das Naturschwimmbecken ist unweit und toll, die Bar da Poca daneben sehr nett. Einen Punkt Abzug gibt es von uns, da uE die Duschen durchaus renoviert werden dürften und auch die Ausstattung der Küche etwas dürftig ist. So gibt es keinen Backofen, keine Weingläser und keine großen Pfannen etc. Da wird es bei Vollbesetzing eng beim kochen.

The time become whole, fragments of an unique view

The island is quite, low traffic, unique landscape and friendly pleople. Adega da Figueira was the perfect refuge, warm and breathtaking view. I was dazzled with Pico peak, I loved it. In a short time I was able to gain the strength and energy to go back to my stressfull life. Thank you so much for the beautiful place. I'll come back for sure to explore more places .

We would come back for sure!

Very nice little holiday adega with a magic view over the sea! The terrace is superb as it is covered. So wind and even rain will not disturb the view on the magic sea. We saw dolphins every day from the house (different species, big and small groups). Sometimes very near! We even managed to see the blows of baleen whales with our binoculars! Fantastic. It is a vey calm place, nice garden and the kitchen is well equipped. Very friendly household lady that cares for all your little problems. If you want to calm down, relax and enjoy a splendid view over the endless ocean this is your place to be! We did some nice walkings nearby, some great dolphin and whale watching tours (with lots of baleen whlaes and dolphins) and had fish for dinner every second day. Our small baby (1.5year) enjoyed the stay as much as we did!

Lovely house in a great location

If you are looking for something special, rent a house Adega Figuera in Calheta de Nesquim. You will find your "home" for your holiday on the island of Pico. At the moment you become inhabitants of this unique island. Thanks to its location the property offers stunning ocean views. Breakfast on the terrace and view of the ocean filling the fishing boats, jumping dolphins has become a regular ritual each new day I spent in this house. Similarly, I enjoyed every evening to the voices of the ocean as the waves encounter lava. I sat on the terrace into the late evening hours and endured incredible luck. My companions in the evening were "Cagarros", talking birds ... I am really very happy that I chose for my holiday house Adega Figuera, magical place full of peace and beauty and I highly recommend it to all who seek peace and quiet. Dear Maria & Fernando, thank you very much for the warm welcome and thank you both that I could at least several days to become a part of your beautiful home. I wish you all the best. Next spring I'll be back to your house, where again I live through my new beautiful holiday. With love Irena

Best place ever!

This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever been! The great view over the ocean from the breakfast table... watching Dolphins from the house.. everything very clean and tasteful decorated. It really felt like home! A place were you will find rest and where you can enjoy all beauty of nature! The temperature was great during our stay and we could cool down in the natural pool close by. This is for sure a place we will come back!

Amazing Adega da Figueira with great traditional rustic room design, lovely relaxed atmosphere. The House was so beautiful and comfy, very quiet too at night. This was lovely. Can't recommend it highly enough. We were very impressed.

Charming holiday home with great panoramic view

Very nice house inmidst untouristy "real Azores"-area. Although built anew with original stones and tiles, it looks very much like the historic adegas that you'll find in the neighbourhood. The panoramic view from the terrace is fantastic - the sea and the sky is ever changing, the scenery with its lights and shades simply stunning. The new roof over the terrace allows you to stay outside all day long. Watching dolphins (5 different species) is something we'll never forget (bring binoculars with you!). We liked the nice walks to the sea, to Calheta de Nesquim and to the country side. The island itself is very nice, very quiet, lots of unspoiled nature (full of flowers) - and the roads are in very good shape (even the smaller mountain roads that lead you through the thrilling mists that you often find in the upper mountain regions). The sea was surprisingly warm, the natural pools are a good protection from the currents and the waves (ideal also for kids). Noelia and Natalia were very friendly and helpful in every way; thanks again to Maria and Fernando, the owners, for a fabulous holiday. Our two weeks seemed to fly away - next time we'll stay for longer!

A tasteful place for a relaxing holiday

We spent 10 days in Adega da Figueira in October/November 2012. We estimated the comfort and the interior arrangement, which is made flavored and with affinity for the history of the place. Unfortunately we didn`t use the big terrace often, because it was raining mostly. But we saw bats (endemic animal of Pico!) and dolphins, the Atlantic ocean by storm! We recommend Adega da Figueira for everybody who enjoys to stay in a quite place middle in a small village near the sea and the highland of the wonderful Pico Island. The natutural swimming pool, the fantastic landscape in the highlands and the Atlantic are fantastic. We thank to Fernando and Maria for the warm and friendly welcome. The perfect house for the serious whale watcher

At around 300 metres from the shore, and 70 metres above sea level, the upper terrace provides uninterrupted views of the ocean and the huge number and variety of whales and dolphins so close to the coast line. During our 3 week stay we recorded over 100 whale and dolphin sightings, accounting for more than 700 animals and at least 6 species. Highlights included 15 sightings of breaching sperm whales, leaping clear of the water as well as lots of fluking as the animals sounded. Watching a group of 4 Risso's dolphins harass, hit and chase off a False Killer whale was as spectacular as it was unforgettable. Sightings could last for hours and we found that the best time was between 1600 and 1900 hours when the sea seemed simply full of life and animals when Risso's could be guaranteed. Quite simply the best place we have ever been for land based observation - watching wild animals without disturbing them - fantastic. We used 8x40 hand held and 20x80's binoculars mounted on a tripod. Lovely people, friendly, quiet island and Natalia and Noelia are wonderful and will make your stay a real delight. If you love to watch marine megafauna, this is a great place. You will also see huge hovering buzzards and daytime bats too. Magical place, highly recommended. John and Val, Isle of Man.

Adega da Figueira- our best choice!!!

We spent 5 wonderful days at this lovely house and felt very very comfortable! The house is beautiful and romantic, Equiped with everything you need and set up with lots of love! From the terrasse we enjoyed the stunning view over the ocean, the garden and other adegas. The house is very well situated, we liked a lot to go swimming at the close by natural pool or doing walking tours up to the hill. And we enjoyed the silence around the house. Wonderful holiday close to the Atlantic

When approaching and entering the Adega da Figueira, we immediately felt that we had made the right choice : the location was rural and yet quite central with a fantastic sea view and the cottage was inviting. Very soon we felt at home since everything was well-maintained and very comfortable and quiet. From the terrace, we saw dolphins and could hear the cory's shearwaters (cagarros) with their fascinating sound. The whale-watching trip was very rewarding and the island is ideal for walking with some very well indicated trails. We discovered nice villages, interesting museums, good food and cosy little harbours and natural pools. Calheta de Nesquim really is an attractive place to stay : small but lively with a nice fishing harbour and museum, a lovely church, a well-restored windmill and a cosy bar next to the pool. We would like to thank Natalia and Noélia for their kindness and useful trips. We hope to get back soon! Quiet and charming place

We stayed there for an extended weekend and it was the perfect getaway. It is a very quiet place with an amazing view of the ocean, near a natural swimming pool and vineyards The house is very well equipped and has everything you need to prepare and enjoy a great dinner in the evening or a nice breakfast in the morning, indoors or outdoors in the balcony. Excellent for a romantic trip or a family getaway. We can't wait to go back!

Dream Holidays

We have 3 kids and this was everybody's first time in Azores. We decided to stay in Pico and just travel for a day trip to the surrounding Islands Faial and S. Jorge. This was a good decision because boats are easy and Pico is a wonderful place to stay, culturally very rich. To stay in this cottage "Adega da Figueira" was just perfect. They have all the facilities to the kids, a nice environment inside and out and the perfect sea view. We felt home while in there. The person in charge of the accommodations is a local and it is very nice and was always trying to please our needs. Definitely we'll go back.

Qiuet place with a fantastic view!

A Adega da Figueira tem uma localização fabulosa. Ao acordar a porta logo se abria para gozar a magnífica paisagem. Os proprietários são pessoas muito simpáticas e prestáveis. Todas as dicas foram fabulosas e importantes. Adorámos o restaurante " O Ponta da Ilha" na Manhenha. Whale watching e a subida ao Pico foram momentos inesquecíveis, apesar do grau de dificuldade na subida à montanha. Enfim foi muito agradável mas ficou ainda muito por ver, apesar de já ser a 3ª vez que fomos ao Pico!

So peaceful and nice to stay!!!

The Adega da Figueira is extremely nice and in a fantastic position with a beautiful view of the ocean.The rooms (3 in total) are big and comfortable with everything you need !!!Guests can also use the kitchen and barbecue outside to prepare their own food. If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay on Pico island, this is it! It was absolutely a gorgeous stay for us and I would love to come back again!!!

We have been doing holidays in Azores since 1991, until one day in 2005, we definitively fall in love with Pico and decide to by a ruin to rebuild.

After traveling to all Azorean islands we choose Pico because it's pure nature, the mountain as a special impact, it's one of the best places in the world for whale watching and people are really nice.

I live in Ponta Delgada, and Mrs, Natalia, is our local contact at Calheta
de Nesquim.

She only speaks Portuguese but most of our customer consider her has very nice and
efficient when something need to be addressed.

She is in permanent contact with me, and if there is anything you consider is not ok, my mobile phone 00351 91 962 07 35 is available 24h, to coordinate any necessary action.

We both want you experience to be five starts, and We'll be available shall you need
any assistance, to make sure you enjoy your days.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Since the beginning the idea was to create a place that is simple but comfortable, where a visitor could feel like if it was at home.

The house is equipped has if we live there, and has lots of pieces that make part of our live, arriving there you can fell you are making part of a story, not only staying in a house.

It's very curious that several customers when we speak with them after their stay, comment that they felt like at home :)

The quietness from the house, the whale tradition from Calheta de Nesquim, the amazing natural pool - one of the best in the Azores - are some of the good reasons to stay with us.

Adega da Figueira is located in an island in the middle of Atlantic Ocean, as such, it is
subject at times to bad weather, raining and humidity days.

This is just an additional challenge, and never a reason not to visit the island.
