Nuestra casa ofrece todo el confort que necesitará durante su visita a Monteverde. Ofrece una sensación de estudio con un estilo de dormitorio al aire libre. También se ofrece una maravillosa terraza / terraza para ver el bosque y el arroyo a continuación. La cocina cuenta con los utensilios necesarios y todos los electrodomésticos necesarios para cocinar, una estufa de gas, nevera, microondas, cafetera. We loved our stay at Casa Balbo! The property is beautiful, and loved having a little trail to explore. Close to everywhere you want to explore, but also nice and tucked away from the busy areas. Thank you Oscar - we’ll definitely recommend Casa Balbi to anyone staying in Monteverde.

We had a wonderful stay of 6 nights. The place had everything we needed and wanted. We were very comfortable and appreciated the great location to be able to access all of our desired activities within short drives or walks. Being located adjacent to a waterway was an extra bonus as it created a lovely atmosphere as we ate our breakfast on the balcony. Oscar was an excellent host and gave us great tips on what to see and do in Monteverde. He was great at making us feel welcome and at home. We would gladly return for another stay.

Larry is wonderful!

This is a beautiful house in Monteverde. Owner Larry is wonderful. He helped us booked the tours and even show us his secret gem, a HUGE hollow tree. We had a nice stay.

Great place!

Amazing property. Amazing location. The property owner was awesome and super nice. On top of that a huge help for me and my wife on things to do in the area even going as far as sending names and map links. The room itself was clean and well maintained. 10/10 would stay again.

Casa Balbi was an okay place to stay while my partner and I explored Monteverde. However, there were a few issues that would stop me staying here again. When we arrived we were shown to a different apartment than the one we booked and were told the one we would be staying in was an upgrade. However, based on the pictures of the one we booked (this review property), I feel like we received a downgrade. The apartment we stayed in could benefit from a dehumidifier as it often seemed more humid inside the apartment than outside, and we regularly had issues with clothes not drying or items in the apartment being damp. The shower was unfortunately poor, and you had to choose between having warm water or having enough pressure to stand under. However, the bed was comfortable, and the location was good for exploring Monteverde. Also, Oscar (the property manager) was very nice and provided great recommendations for local activities, restaurants, etc. Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay at Casa Balbi again, but I was impressed by Oscar's demeanour and attention.

Exceptional host

We stayed 3 days in Casa Balbi during our stay in Monteverde. The cabin is spacious and has everything you need for your stay. Toiletteries and essentials are provided for a day to get you out of trouble when you arrive. The host Oscar was incredibly amazing and helping us to book our tours even last minute. The grounds are lovely and well looked after. There was a stream by our balcony which was lovely. You have a lovely garden with hammocks and chairs to sit too. We felt very save y Parking was secure. All in all a lovely place to stay in monteverde

Decent and fair

Landlord is not so greedy as most ticos concerning tourists. The wind was shaking the roof, but the cabin is large and fully equipped. Nice garden and a little but steady warm water.

Highly recommend

Lovely property in a great location. It had everything we needed for our stay. The private balcony was a lovely spot to sit and the gardens were beautiful. It was clean and well equipped. We were met at arrival which is always a nice touch. Good information package was available. Very close to several of the parks as well as town - free pickup by parks seems to be available if you don’t have a car. There is so much to see and do with easy online booking for your adventures so your can plan your day. We tried Bon Apetit at the end of the road and the pasta and pizza was excellent. We highly recommend a trip to Monteverde and Casa Terraza!

Birders for Balbi!

You must stay at Casa Balbi! Especially if yu are a birder. Your hosts, Larry and his son Oscar are such good hosts, very warm, hospitabe, engaging, friendly, helpful. They live on-site so there is aways someone there to help or just to visit with. Oscar was especially helpful with arranging shuttle rides for me to various reserves in the area. The grounds are huge! Tropical birds are plentiful and easy to see. I stayed here for 3 months. I was surrounded by toucans and parrots every day. It is a short walk downhill to town and then an easy taxi ride back up. The grounds are huge, full of flowers, birds, butterfies, and mammals. White-faced monkeys are regular visitors. No need to stay anywhere else in Monteverde - if you have any interest in nature - and that is why you are going to Costa Rica - this is the place to stay.

Monteverde

A very pleasant stay in spacious and quiet accommodations that had a nice deck next to a small stream (bonus!). Location was close to Santa Elena and the many attractions of the Monteverde area. Oscar (and his father Larry) were exceedingly helpful, friendly, and a pleasure to speak with. Good guys! Their property, though not the easiest to find, was beautiful, well maintained, safe and secure, and very green/forested. I fully recommend these accommodations!

Excellent piece of paradise in Monteverde!

First off, the photos don't do justice to what this property actually offers. It's a property with little casitas huddled together on a larger piece of acreage, wonderful landscaping, lush forest, and also has that "finca" feel with a bit of open land where sometimes cows will roam. The place is beautiful. I stayed in two separate casitas over the course of 1-2 months and enjoyed my stay immensely. The property owner and managers were so accommodating, checked in with me and catered to making sure I had what I needed. I'm a remote worker heavily dependent on WIFI and was able to work without much interruption. The property is away enough from the center of tourism to enjoy a serene monteverde experience and close enough to access what all of Monteverde offers. The property is also very close to the Santa Elena Cloud Reserve, which I find more enjoyable and beautiful of the reserves in Monteverde. I hope to return soon!

Lovely cabin style stay

The owner of this home is extremely kind and welcoming. The property is beautiful and on a large plot of land. These are small cabin like homes that are very clean and have everything you need for a great stay. Shower is good and the water is hot. There is a restaurant that is not far but the little town would be a bit of a walk without a car. If you are used to walking it's not that far. Would definitely recommend this stay!

Awesome host and property

Larry was probably the coolest guy we have met during our stay in Costa Rica. The property and accommodations were awesome and a excellent stay. I just can’t say enough good things about our stay. My wife had a issue with her braces and he hooked us up with a local dentist. I think I made a mistake booking my reservation and he got us a place to stay in town with a friend. The experience staying and communicating with Larry is top notch and I couldn’t asked for more. Larry speaks fluent English and Spanish that made our stay even that much easier. I’m considering my wife staying long term while I return to the US for work. I know she would be safe and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while I would be gone.

Perfect stay in Monteverde

The property was beautiful! It is located on a farm in the mountains and we would wake up every morning to the sound of cows, howler monkey, and humming birds on our balcony. Close walk to town and a short drive to both the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and the Selvatura Adventure Park (hanging bridges). Also, for you beer lovers, the Monteverde Brewing Company is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the property. The hosts Larry and Oscar were amazing and extremely helpful. Our stay in Monteverde would not have been the same without them. We will definitely be back. Pura Vida!

Crisp, serene stay

Casa Balbi was nothing short of amazing. The grounds staff were always present when needed and still remained private. Oscar made sure I had all i needed and gave me plenty of insight on local amenities and suggestions for a wonderful mountain experience. The land was amazingly kept and beautifully landscaped. There were great near by restaurants and markets for fresh produce. The balcony and stargazing seclusion was by far my favorite about the property. If you're looking for a great stay in lovely, fresh and crisp mountain scenery then casa balbi is hands down the place to be.

Perfect blend of value, convenience, and quality

I stayed for 54 days. Larry, Diego, and Oscar did everything they could to be helpful make things easy. They are great people. The location is perfect for exploring the cloud forest. And you cannot beat the price.

Great place for families

Larry was a great host. We didn’t get to meet him in person, but he had someone greet us when we got to the property, the place was great! we felt safe, and comfortable. They even had an extra bed set up for our little girl. We really enjoyed our time at Casa Balbi. And we highly recommend this place

Casa Balbi is a fantastic place to stay! Larry is a great ambassador for the city of Monteverde. He knows exaclty where to go to see the city and he has great hookups for tours. I would definitely stay there again!

Relaxing holiday

From the moment we arrived the owners were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful If we asked for anything that we needed it was immediately brought to us The owners were very helpful in recommending the best things to do and see as well as where to find great shopping and local great tasting food Weekly maid service kept our place wonderfully clean The friendly , helpful owners make you stay , whether it be a few days or longer, very enjoyable!

Delightful casita

My husband and I spent 6 weeks at this casita in Monteverde. Larry and Oscar, our hosts, were very attentive and helped in many ways. Larry gave us a tour and introduced us to people and kept us aware of events in the area. He makes a point of being there when people are checking in. The casita has a kitchen which helped for breakfast and snacks. We liked the Wifi and the tv with several English channels. It was very comfortable and the sound of a little stream lulled us to sleep. It's a little walk on the unpaved road to two restaurants and several little stores where you can find most items. I would recommend it highly. If you have challenges walking, you would want to have a car but we did fine without one.

This property is a slice of heaven in Monteverde and it just makes you take in the Cloud Forest Experience. A true jem and we are blessed ro be living here. You can take tours from Casa Balbi to the Canopy Ziplines, the Santa Elena Cloud Forest, Curi Cancha REserve, Monteverde Cloud Forest and many other trails that will lead you to magical locations that you will remember for a lifetime.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Quiet. Remote, but close enough to town. What made us fall in love with Casa Balbi was creating the Organic gardens, planting the tropical flowers, watching wildlife cross the tree tops and just being relaxed in a very quiet location. It is amazing to be in the clouds of Monteverde. You will have the opportunity to be in a magical location and fall in love as we did with Casa Balbi.
