Cozy Mendocino Coast cottage, wood stove and fire pit. Pet friendly!

Relax and unwind at our rustic yet cozy two bedroom guest cottage, conveniently located between Mendocino and Fort Bragg, just minutes from all the spectacular Mendocino Coast has to offer.

Willow Cottage @ Barte Woods has a long history. The woods have been in our family since 1933, and the guest cottage has been expanded four times through three generations! The cottage has a living/dining space with cute wood stove (wood provided), smart TV, comfy loveseat sofa, armchair and dining table. The well equipped kitchen has the handmade cabinets from the very first cabin on the property, and includes modern conveniences of a full size fridge, gas stove and microwave.

The master bedroom has a king sized Heavenly® bed. Enjoy the majestic trees and pond beyond through the 7’ patio doors, or step out onto the sunny patio and listen to the birdsong. Please note the master bedroom is accessed via the jack and jill bathroom - a quirk of a cottage built up over many decades! Please also be aware that the cottage has steps Inside the home if any guests have mobility issues.

The second bedroom has a built in twin sized cabin bed, plus a spacious desk for work from home options. The fast WiFi adds to the convenience.

The bathroom has a walk in shower and modern vanity.

Guests also have access to a private fire pit and a washer and dryer.

The outside space is expansive, overlooking the pond and forest beyond.

Please note the pond is not fenced and during the wet season can be over 6' deep in places. Please be aware of this if booking with toddlers or young children, and/or pets that may have an issue with deeper water.

Your hosts live in the neighboring house, located about 50’ away. Your total privacy to fully enjoy the cottage and outside space is our aim, but we are readily available should anything need attention during your stay.

One dog is allowed, subject to a pet fee. Dogs should be kept on a leash, and must be friendly towards other dogs, as there is another (very friendly) dog that lives in the neighboring house.

the hosts were most welcoming and warm and the cottage was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Nice outdoor area within a well forested perimeter and gated entry. Very enjoyable backyard patio area with a fire pit and firewood provided by the hosts. The indoor wood stove kept the cottage warm and cozy.

We loved our stay at Jo & Ed’s cottage! It was perfect for our toddler and dog as there is outdoor space as well as plenty of room inside the cottage. It was quiet and cozy while still in a very convenient location near town. We also got to meet their sweet golden retriever, Sunny, who was an absolute sweetheart! Hoping we can stay again someday soon.

Very clean home. Furniture and beds were comfortable. Quiet and relaxing. Being dog lovers, we enjoyed meeting Sunny. He followed us in the house while we were packing the car, and he seemed to be inspecting the rooms, lol.

Perfect spot close to beach

Very happy with our stay at the cottage. The kitchen is well equipped if you plan on cooking during your stay. Beds are comfortable. Everything was very clean. The area is great for hiking, Jo and Ed gave excellent suggestions for the activities we were interested in.

Favorite spot in Fort Bragg

My wife, son, and dog came out with me for a work trip and this place was great. Jo and Ed were amazing hosts, the property is beautiful, and pet friendly. The location is out of the way but only a few minutes from town. We definitely plan on staying there again.

Great weekend at Willow Cottage

The property is clean, and well equipped providing everything needed for an enjoyable stay from coffee maker to firewood and a fire pit. The property is really nice and secure. There is a binder on the coffee table with instructions, information, and tips. I've been coming to Ft. Bragg for 50 years and learned of a new-to-me beach from the binder. The hosts are friendly and helpful. If available I would love to stay there again.

We had such a fantastic stay! The cottage itself is charming and perfectly appointed, but the real stunner that stole our hearts were the grounds. It's a beautiful property, and we enjoyed the fire pit, all the thoughtful outdoor seating, the forested views and trails, and of course the huckleberries! Our dog had a blast too. It was so relaxing and just what we needed to decompress and use as a base camp for our Mendocino coast adventures. Jo and Ed are a delight - they are excellent communicators, friendly, and respectful of your privacy. We highly recommend a stay at this cottage, and are already hoping that we can come back soon. Thank you Jo and Ed for sharing this special property with us!

Recent stay in Fort Bragg

The house was very nice and offered us plenty of space, location was close to both downtown Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Host were friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We came in late the first night so they kept some lights on to make it easier to check in. If I'm looking for a place to stay in the area again I would definitely see if this place was open first.

Jo is a local Realtor, and we also run a property development company. We love houses, but always consider them homes with different personalities.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

The cottage is situated on our own property, called Barte Woods. The property has been in our family since 1933! We are excited for guests to come and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the woods. We have 40 acres of private woodland here, but share it with so much birdlife, as well as deer, foxes and jack rabbits! We are located near the Botanical Gardens, less than a ten minute drive into both Mendocino and Fort Bragg.
