Welcome to The Nene Hideaway! Nestled one block from Richardson Beach in Hilo, Hawaii, this delightful, two-story stylish cottage is the perfect retreat for guests seeking a serene beach getaway. This adorable, updated property with jungle views is ideal for couples, families, and small groups, as it sleeps up to eight people and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The spacious, open-concept Great Room, which includes the living room, kitchen, and dining room, is perfect for hanging out, preparing meals, playing games, or watching TV. The well-equipped kitchen comes stocked with essential pantry items, a Coffee & Tea Station, storage containers, ceramic & plastic dishware, and wine glasses, to name a few. It also has paper towels, dish soap & sponge, trash bags, and basic cleaning supplies.
Each floor of the home features a bathroom and a bedroom, providing a convenient layout for parents with kids, multi-generational families, or two couples/singles traveling together. The bathrooms are well-stocked with essentials, including towels, a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, toilet paper, and a makeup removal station. The house has 300 Mb/s WiFi throughout and a desk in the upstairs bedroom for when you need to work remotely.
There is a lovely lanai with fantastic jungle views, perfect for a relaxing morning or evening nightcap. The property has hibiscus, bamboo, banana trees, an avocado tree, and other tropical plants. In the carport, you will find all the necessities for a fabulous day at the beach, including beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach toys, a cooler, an umbrella, and boogie boards. Beach towels are stored in the linen closet.

Erinn was raised in the mountains of Northern Utah, is an avid travel reader, and organizes as a hobby. Robert spent his early years in the Bay Area of California and his teenage years in the Sierra Nevada Mountains; he is a mechanical engineer and a huge Jimmy Buffett fan. Together, they are parents to three teenage children. The family first vacationed on the Big Island in 2015 and purchased their home on Kalaniana'ole Street in Hilo a few years later.
Over the years, they have hosted and shared their home with many visiting friends and family members. When the opportunity came up to purchase two nearby licensed vacation homes from another Hilo family, they decided to take the plunge and are now the owners and hosts of the Barefoot Beach House and The Nene Hideaway, both located in the Richardson Beach Park area of Hilo, Hawaii.
Robert & Erinn strive to be thoughtful hosts and work hard to ensure their homes are places others will enjoy and make great memories. They prioritize cleanliness, style, and amenities. The Nene Hideaway is located in Keaukaha area of Hilo near Richardson Beach. Our peaceful home is one block from the oceanfront drive of Kalaniana'ole Street. Kalanaiana'ole is lined with Hawaii-style homes, marvelous beach parks, and endless swimming holes. It is the premier place on the island's east side to go to the beach, swim, snorkel, boogie board, surf, and fish. So, if you want to get a feel of "old Hawaii" and be within walking distance of the beach, this is the place!

The popular oceanfront scene along Kalaniana'ole quickly settles down to a few cars and a handful of walkers in the one block it takes to get to The Nene Hideaway. This makes our home the perfect combination of having the ocean access of a beachfront neighborhood while also being hidden away on a small lane in a quiet, peaceful jungle setting.
Very few properties and neighborhoods on the island's east side have walk-in ocean access since much of the east coastline is lined with cliffs and rugged terrain. Finding a vacation home where you can easily walk to the beautiful and swimmable beach parks on the east side of the island is a rare find... one that you should not pass up!
