Experience nature, right by Hillsville, Va. a few ft from a stocked creek.

The Firefly sits amongst the trees, just a few ft from the noisy creek bank. A nice rock path takes you into the crystal clear water that is stocked September- May. This safari tent has lots of solar lighting, power, a refrigerator, composting toilet that is odorless and clean, and an outdoor hot and cold water shower. Enjoy the outdoor soaking tub by the creek, a charcoal grill, drip coffee maker, and plenty of stacked firewood by the firepit. There is a hard surface road to the property and then a gravel drive. Only three miles to Hillsville for shopping and dining. We allow pets but please clean up their waste. Sit by the creek and let the sound put you to sleep, hike nearby trails, visit The New River Trail for mountain biking and hiking, flea markets, ziplining at Buffalo mountain ziplining, visit local breweries and wineries, and six miles from I-77 and The Blue Ridge Parkway. The winter months are heated with a propane wall heater and a pellet stove. These keep it toasty warm in single digit weather but be aware that if it’s below freezing, the water lines do freeze under the tent, so you may not have running water at times. There is the conventional bathhouse at the top of the hill but it freezes as well in single digit weather.

I am disappointed that you were not totally pleased with your stay and if you have any suggestions, please let me know. This is the first four star review I have received and I try to make improvements as I can. Thanks for being a great guest in this cool space, sitting right by the creek. You had horrendous weather to depart in and I hope it was ok.

We had a lovely stay! The creek and the area is beautiful. Lots of firewood was provided so we sat out with a fire both evenings and really enjoyed cooking on the pellet grill. Our dog had a great time. We were cozy warm inside and enjoyed hearing the creek at night. There were people staying at the campsite nearby one night and they were great neighbors. Lots of various provisions already there and everything you might need to cook.

Amazing slice of mountain peacefulness

This was a wonderful alternative to our normal tent camping since most of the campgrounds we go to were impacted by the hurricane. Definitely looking forward to another venture here

Second stay at this lovely location. We were able to experience more outside activity this year as we brought our son (14) and our daughter (22) stopped by. Plenty of room to run and play.We will definitely come again next year for our AnniverSCARY (10/31). Thank you to the owner for the updated heat source and unique experience!

Great Place to relax and unwind!

The host, Jodee, was quick to respond and very helpful. Don't pass this place up! Fully stocked house with: electricity, inside bath, outdoor shower and the land with the stream don't miss this, bring your pole. We absolutely loved it. Very peaceful.

Trout fishing Trip with Son

Amazing! The host was very communicative, inviting, and her property is one of a kind. We did not catch any trout but will be returning this spring. 5 star property for sure and such a great value!

Wonderfully Unique Property

My husband, dog and I visited this local vacation property for a long weekend. The property is spacious with a trout stocked creek at your doorstep! We enjoyed relaxing to the sounds of nature while fishing and reading. Solar lights are a romantic and fun touch at dusk! There's electricity and multiple heat/cooling options. Mini fridge and running water made our trip feel like home. Location is a few minutes from shops and restaurants. I recommend Fancy Gap Country Store for delicious food and ice cream! Thank you, Jodee for answering all our pre-trip questions! We will definitely be back. Maybe we'll bring the kids next time <3
