The beds are not comfortable and my husband and son in law ultimately chose to sleep on the couches. The larger bed upstairs is so close to the slanted ceiling on one side that only one person could comfortably sleep there. You really shouldn't be able to charge a premium rate even on a holiday weekend with such poor sleeping options. There was also a fair amount of sand on the floors all cover and we had to vacuum our first day. The upstairs toilet is open to the room which is open to the house and not acceptable for what we paid for this place.

We enjoyed the well stocked Mississippi River House with it’s lovely view of the River. At first we were dismayed that the drive to Galena was 45 minutes, but enjoyed the comfy house and the scenic route to and from Galena that the disappointment passed quickly. We put together a jigsaw puzzle and enjoyed cooking breakfast and lunch in the kitchen that had all the equipment we needed. I recommend this house for hilers and nature lovers as there are so many trails nearby.

Great quick getaway to Mississippi!Gorgeous river views. Portable fire pit was great for evening fires.Very close to neighbors but they were pleasant and kept to themselves

We had a super time! House was very clean and well stocked with everything you might need. Plenty of sleeping space too. Wonderful host who was very responsive to any questions or needs. Minimal yard space, but several parks nearby, at least one within walking distance. The description did not include a grill and there was not a full sized grill, however there was a smaller electric Blackstone and a mini portable camping gas grill for outdoor grilling. I loved having the full sized washer and dryer and an added bonus was that laundry soap, softener etc. was provided. I also loved the endless supply of hot water, no matter how many showers were needed after a long day on the beach. Beautiful area with great restaurants nearby too!

Could not ask for more ...

We are three women, ages 75-86, who needed a good little "getaway" place, and Linsey's River House was perfect. The somewhat steep stairs up to the "upper" bedrooms, 1/2 bath, and lounge area had a good railing, and were quite navigable. Comfy beds both up and down ... Outside it was humid and mid-80's, but lower AC and the upper fans made everything quite comfortable. TONS of windows for good cross ventilation and river barge watching. Parking was easy - right at the door. We really appreciated the fragrance-free bedding & towels, and no stinky air fresheners! The host had absolutely everything labeled and accessible - with the exception of the coffee maker that was just too high for us oldsters. Solution: we moved it to a lower counter for our stay. Linsey was immediately responsive to a few questions, and we three agreed she had considered EVERYTHING in providing a great get-away. I have owned rental property, and I hope every guest treats this place with care it deserves. PS: If you have tweens or teens, they would love staying upstairs. Talk about a kid's paradise!

Quick getaway

Great property on the riverfront for a quick getaway! The dogs were welcome, and the owner has thought of everything that a guest might forget. We had a great time!

Beautiful overloook of the Mississippi River

The house is very nice, has lots of space and is stocked well with towels and coffee and such. But what really makes it special is the location. The overlook of the Mississippi River, both from the yard and from the upper-level deck, is spectacular. The pelicans on the river are numerous and a pleasure to watch. We also saw an eagle, osprey and Baltimore orioles and heard many songbirds. An owl calling in the pre-dawn darkness was icing on the cake. (We're not birders, just fans of wildlife.) There's also a nice show when a giant river barge passes on its way to the lock in Bellevue. We liked the place so much, we told our friends, who immediately booked it for two weeks from now.

Christmas in Bellevue

We enjoyed Christmas with our 5 adult kids this weekend. The space was great. I can imagine it’s equally as wonderful in the summer with the deck. Thanks again!

Family Thanksgiving

House was well stocked with everything we needed and more in the kitchen. There were also numerous card/board games provided. Loved the location right next to the river. Host was very prompt with responses.

A wonderful place right along the Mississippi River

It was very nice. Our only struggle was trying to get access in the door. Only because we left our home early morning and being new to vrbo did not realize the key entry code would be emailed to us after the fact, and I don't have email on our cell phone. So there was no phone # listed to call the owner for help on the door. We had to wait for a family member to go onto our home computer to find out later on that the email was sent with key code to access the door. I wish maybe the key code could be sent thru texting as an option, as we all don't have our emails on our cell phones. Other than that it was lovely. Thank you!

Picturesque River Location

This place worked great for a weekend with friends. It was very clean and well-stocked. The kitchen is small but workable. Deck area really nice. We liked it.
