The Octagon - Country Chic-2-BR house on US-23N in N. Alpena/Presque Isle.

No Pets. Visiting the Alpena and Presque Isle areas, your adventure begins at this 2-bedroom Octagon-shaped house. The site of a former bank in the 80s, this unique property sleeps 4. The ground level is bright and cheery with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (shower only), a Master with vaulted ceiling, a California king bed, 75" smart tv, and coffee station w/beverage fridge.

The 2nd BR has a queen bed and a 50" smart tv. The staircase leads to the lower level where the fully equipped kitchen and living areas are, including a washer/dryer and the original bank safe. It has the boardroom feel and is the perfect place to hide away after an afternoon of too much sun, concentrate on some work or take in a movie.
Each floor has multiple plugs and charging ports, and a 75" smart TV ready to stream using your services. (no cable) and the TV in the basement has a sound system. There is well water, but if you talk to the locals, it's the best there is! Something about the limestone-rich area. We leave a few bottled waters and 2 gallons for your ice and coffee needs. No Ice maker, we've got some trays, but you might want to pick some up. Fire pit with wood, a park style grill, bring your own charcoal and fluid. A circular, spacious gravel parking lot allows plenty of room for your boat trailers, no need to unhitch. Sorry, no RVs are allowed.
Right down the road from the new (2024) boat launch at Long Lake County Park.

Located on US23N, sure there is road noise and in the summer the rock haulers let you know they’re coming, but in the time where there’s no one whizzing by at 55, there is silence. There is seclusion with no neighbors nearby, except the guy diagonal across, in the summer he may be your DJ, but being in the middle of everything, there is seclusion with plenty of parking....and in the winter, well, it’s just magic!
With amenities like 2 natural gas furnaces, 2 AC units, Awesome Fiber WiFi, a full spice rack, air fryer, 2 coffee makers, blender, crockpot, Some ramen in the cupboard, towels, linens, games, books, plenty of places to lounge, and 2 refrigerators, our place will help you feel at home while you're traveling in Alpena and surrounding areas. Again, Sorry NO PETS.

Rustic Greenhouse Smoking Lounge, hangout space - Seasonal

30x20 - 600sf screened and ventilated greenhouse with shade screening.
This space is designed for the smokers, or anyone smoker friendly who wants to enjoy the outdoors, in a large portion of a tall waterproof greenhouse. There is space to hangout, furniture for several lounging scenarios. Near the firepit and outdoor grill.

Keep the party going outside if it rains, the sides roll up, but the inside can reach some real heat on sunny days (noon to 6pm), 90+ degrees so we've placed thoughtful shade cloths, an exhaust fan and other portable fans that can be moved around. on the flipside, if there's cold and wind, it is an oasis. If it's sunny and 40 degrees outside, inside is 70-80 degrees. There's a heating blanket incase it gets chilly when you roll down the sides at night. Sides are screened in to deter bugs. The front is hard poly and the sides are plastic manually rolled up and down. Has a locking door.

This space is only available as an add on for each day of your stay at the Octagon, for your entire stay. $50 per day plus an additional $50.00 cleaning fee. Example, if you are staying 3 days, the extra fee would be an additional $200.

This space is "add on only" to your stay, We do not rent it separately and it will NOT be rented/occupied during your stay unless you elect to add it to your stay.

Floor is foam and various carpets, please no shoes, if you want to keep the gravel and sand at bay. We also have a broom handy.

This space caters to the smokers and smoke friendly people who are in your group. The cleaning expectations would be like a hotel would have for their smoking rooms (other states and Native American hotels still have them) and it is like a tent, so we launder things regularly and do what we can to keep it fresh. It being outside helps and it never feels too smokey. The ceiling is 14 feet and there is good airflow. It's 30 feet from the Octagon and because there are no neighbors around, you can laugh and talk all night.

Thrown together with a Boho style with color and comfort in mind. I furnished it with second hand finds and Marketplace deals. This hothouse experience is just the way I like to enjoy my stay while I'm there, so why not let others have the same fun. A great add-on to give yourself more space to enjoy yourselves and give you an option from being cooped up in the house.

Great time!

The house is very comfortable and clean.There is everything you need for your stay.We had such a good time here we are considering coming back and when they say center of everything they're not kidding. Highly recommend seeing the lighthouses and murals in alpena. Besser has a nice sandy beach and beautiful hiking trails. I'm sorry I'm rambling on its just that we had such a good time.Highly recommend staying here.

Very unique and clean home away from home

We had a lovely time staying at the Octagon. Denise was a great host and provided everything that we needed for our stay. The house was very clean, the location was ideal for where we were visiting and all of the amenities were available in the house.

Perfect fishing getaway

This property was perfect for our stay for a fishing tournament on Long Lake. It was only a mile from the boat launch. The house was very nice inside. The hosts had all the necessities available to use like coffee and water and appliances. The house is very well appointed and the hosts were very attentive to our needs. I highly recommend the Octagon house.

Perfect winter getaway

We chose the Octagon for our Anniversary weekend away. Like any VRBO you don’t fully know what you are getting till you arrive. It was after dark and we drop up to a house that was lit up all around. Amazing welcome! The house was immaculate. They thought of everything you could possibly need! We loved the art and unique decor. Denise was amazing! Even helped us with the best route to the house etc. Can’t say enough great things

We kept driving by this little jewel and fell in love with it. Though on a busy road, it still feel secluded with no neighbors near by and otherwise total privacy

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

It was home to a credit union belonging to a local mining company. The building itself has history before that of being moved to this location from 5 miles away where it served as a place you did pottery in the 80s. It still has the bank safe in the lower level. The parking lot is huge and there is a greenhouse on the property, currently being used for storage, but will be developed into a smoking lounge in 2026, available as an add on feature.
