Encantadora casa de campo situada en el corazón de muchas atracciones locales. Espacioso para dos personas con un amplio dormitorio arriba. Hay un baño privado con ducha y lavamanos con un baño privado separado pero también con baño privado. Una terraza fuera de la habitación de arriba es ideal para tomar el sol y tiene una vista espectacular del Chateau de Montfort. En la planta baja tiene un salón / comedor equipado con un televisor. Hay una cocina que contiene todo lo que necesita para la preparación de alimentos. El patio de abajo está cubierto y tiene una barbacoa.
Hay un nuevo restaurante "Angelus" en el Village con un gran chef. Una nueva panadería y tienda de vinos también está en el pueblo.
Natación / piragüismo en la Dordogne es de unos 2 km de distancia. El centro comercial LeClerc (supermercado) está a 4 km. Sarlat, La Roque Gageac, Domme, Castleneau y Beynac están a 5-10 kms. Lascaux y muchos sitios prehistóricos están a 15-20 kms. Es un lugar ideal para explorar todos los lugares extraordinarios de Dordoña.

Maison charmante

Découverte de la région et quoi de mieux que cette charmante maison comme pied à terre. Maison très agréable et fraîche lors des journées bien ensoleillées. Bien équipée, couchage agréable et sa terrasse idéale avec vue sur le château de Montfort !

Perfecte locatie.

Woning in de steen van de streek met uitzicht op het kasteel. Rustig gelegen, maar toch op korte afstand van de toeristische hotspots. De woning was super uitgerust. De restaurants op loopafstand zijn aan te bevelen.

Dank je wel! Ik ben erg blij dat je van de mooie Dordogne kon genieten. Dit is een ongewoon jaar geweest. Ik hoop dat u weer kunt komen als de zaken volledig geopend zijn. Ga door met reizen, zo kunnen we onze ogen openen. Thank you so much! I am very happy that you were able to enjoy the lovely Dordogne. This has been an unusual year. I hope you will be able to visit again when things are fully opened. Continue to travel,it is the way we can open our eyes.

The return to Montfort

Nothing much has changed since our last visit to Montfort Maison except that everything seems to have gone up in price. The house was adequate for our needs and the bed being particularly comfortable. The food speciality being foies gras and canard every menu has it. We enjoyed our stay very much

Dusty, poorly maintained and potentially dangerous.NOT RECOMMENDED.

On arrival at the property in early evening, found a dusty, stale smelling property with very dated facilities and bedding, which we didn't use for the entire week of my stay, choosing to renew it the next day from the local hypermarket. The setting was wonderful, with a view of the chateau but it soon became clear this was a very neglected property amongst pristine neighbours.A neighbour advised several previous visitors had complained or left early. After a clean and a day's airing the house was (just) bearable. A call to the service agent regarding the gas cooker not working took a full 28 hours to visit, and she was a very surly individual, speaking no English, who proved very unhepful. The calor gas cooker was in fact working, but the gas bottle appeared empty to me, so my mistake. The agent appeared annoyed, however at the unnecessary callout, and was certainly not able to resolve the non operating T.V. Areas of concern, which we managed to with some effort work around are as follows. 1. Precipitous staircase leading to upper floor, with wholly inadequate handrail. 2.Balcony with view to chateau had a broken rail, very poorly repaired by inadequate fixings. Also, a trellis screen attempting to add safety to the open railing, was in itself a hazard, as it was fixed only with garden wire, twisted to a sharp point at several locations, risking cuts . 3.Bathroom door from bedroom could not close, leading to unhygenic smells and lack of privacy. 4.Calor gas bottle for cooker was inside the house , immediately next to the cooker. Absolutely safety risk 5.Bed was propped up by another botched home made support, totally inadequate. Again no repair, no renewal of a vital part of furnishing. 6.Toilet openly housed in utility room, immediately adjacent to kitchen separated only by a thin wall and opening door only inches from the fridge. I made no complaint to the agent of the above, due to the surly and inadequate response of her visit, and also because I could not afford alternative accommodation as I had laid out lots of finance to travel to and pay for this holiday.I was also waiting on refund of damage deposit in case of repercussions. In conclusion, I have lots of photographs evidencing the above which I am quite happy to share, but this forum has no facility.

Hello Eric, I am sorry you are unhappy. I am puzzled by your review. The fact that you did not address your concerns either to myself or the caretakers is concerning. The bedding is all brand new just purchased for this season. You were the second client to use it. The walls are stone, restored in the traditional 'point jeune'. This has a beautiful traditional effect. The bed has the added support in case a large guest arrives. It is not necessary it is just there for added support. The gas bottle for the stove is brand new. I'm sorry you did not understand how to use it. Yes there is an extra toilet in the laundry room. The railing on the balcony was just replaced this spring. There is a prominent picture of the staircase leading up stairs on the website. It is there so that people with mobility problems know there is a spiral staircase. The TV and cable box was also just purchased this spring. It was working when you arrived. We had to call out a technician after you left at a cost to us. We decided not to deduct the 75 euros from your damage deposit in the spirit of good nature. You made a reference to our neighbor saying negative things. We have never had clients leave or complain. Unfortunately our neighbor has vindictive jealous attitude. We pray for him. Again, the fact that you did not address your concerns either to myself or the caretakers is alarming. I wish you well, keep traveling and discovering! In understanding we find peace and happiness. Sharon

Erholsame perfekte zwei Wochen im Tal der Dordogne! super vacances! Perfect stay at Dordogne!

Wir hatten richtig Glück mit der Wahl des Ortes und des Ferienhauses um die Region des Périgord Noir im Tal der Dordogne in zwei Wochen zu erkunden! Montfort ist ein ruhiger, kleiner aber doch zentral gelegener Ort auf einem Felsen über der Dordogne, mit einem kleinen Bäcker und zwei sehr guten Restaurants. Das Ferienhaus Maison de Montfort ist ein hübsches typisches altes Steinhaus mit Holzdielen oben bzw. Kachelfliessen im Erdgeschoß. Es ist angenehm kühl obwohl draussen die Sommerhitze war! Ausgestattet ist es mit allem was man sich wünscht, wie in den Objektdetails beschrieben. Es ist sehr gemütlich und perfekt für ein Paar. Im oberen Stockwerk befinden sich Schlafzimmer (das Bett hat sehr gute Matratzen), Badezimmer und ein separates WC sowie die sonnenreiche Dachterrasse mit herrlichem Blick auf Schloß Montfort (und den Sternenhimmel!). Im unteren Stockwerk ist das große Wohnzimmer, die Küche und ein separates Abstellzimmer mit noch einem WC. Toll war die schattige Terrasse zum Hof, man konnte dort immer frühstücken und Abendessen. Mit dem Auto ist man in 5min. mit dem Fahrrad (etwas hügelig) in 10 - 15min am Strand. Zu Fuß (direkter Pfad) wohl in 20min, das haben wir aber nie ausprobiert. Der nächste große Supermarkt ist in Cenac. Kanuverleih wie an dieser Stelle der Dordogne üblich direkt am Strand (soleil plage). Zu allen schönen sehenswürdigkeiten wie Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Sarlat-La-Canéda ist es 20 - 30min mit dem Auto, das Vézére-Tal ist in gut 50min zu erreichen. Uns hat es dort sehr gut gefallen, sobald wir wieder dorthin fahren, würden wir wieder dieses Ferienhaus nehmen. We were really lucky with the choice of the place and the holiday home to explore the region of the Périgord Noir in the Dordogne valley in two weeks! Montfort is a quiet, small but centrally located place on a cliff above the Dordogne, with a bakery and two very good restaurants. The holiday house Maison de Montfort is a pretty typical old stone house with wooden floorboards above or tiled on the ground floor. It is pleasantly cool although outside the summer heat was! It is equipped with everything you want, as described in the object details. It is very cozy and perfect for a couple. Great was the shady terrace to the courtyard, you could always have breakfast and dinner.By car one is in 5min. by bike (a little hilly) in 10 - 15min on the beach. We loved it there, as soon as we go back there, we would take this holiday home again.

Maison de Montfort Visit August 2018

The location is excellent for exploring the area, the venue has all the amenities necessary except if your English and want to watch TV as there is only World News in English but as the sun shone every day it was not necessary. The lack of WiFi caused me a problem as French Bars and Restaurant don't tend to have free WiFi and if they have, I have no French to ask for it. We enjoyed our stay very much it was a pity we did not meet the two ladies Joelle and Brigette. We will return.

Good position just outside beautiful village

The Dordogne is as beautiful as ever. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting a number of places we have previously visited, all within very easy reach of Montfort. There are so many different types of excursion: prehistory (Lascaux, Vezere Valley), chateaux and castles (Beynac, Castelnaud), villages (Domme, La Roque Gageac), towns (Sarlat), and beautiful countryside everywhere. The gite was fine for a couple, for a week. Its position was its best feature. It had all the required facilities, as stated, but needs a little refurbishment. Lighting was very poor and made reading in the evening difficult. TV had only French programmes, no wifi (also lacking throughout the area.)

Maison de Montfort is perfect for the two.

Maison de Montfort was perfect for the two of us. The view of the chateau is truly magnificent and the village has everything you could want; a bar, bakery and beach! The house itself is well designed and equipped and very comfortable. Despite atrocious weather in the latter half of the week we were able to eat outside under a sturdy roof and enjoy the view and the birdsong.

Perfect location!

I was invited to visit this lovely location by a friend. The weather was not great but the area is really beautiful. The house was comfortable and has a great view of the castle. Fantastic photos with changing light. It is close to all the major attractions in the area. Spacious, comfortable and convenient to everything to sum up.

Calme et Tranquillité

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cette maison. Nous avons apprécié le calme et la tranquillité du site. La vue sur le château de Montfort est magnifique de jour comme de nuit. La maison étant en pierre, elle garde une certaine fraîcheur malgré la chaleur dans la journée. Cette location est idéale pour visiter le Périgord noir et profiter de la Dordogne accessible en 20mn à pied ou en 5mn de voiture. Nous avons beaucoup aimé l'accueil de Laurence et son mari qui nous ont conseillés sur des activités et des sites à visiter. Nous avons vraiment passé un superbe séjour.
