The name Sand and Serenity was derived from the proximity to our beautiful lake and beaches, while having a peaceful retreat to return to. Centrally located 15 minutes from St. Joe and South Haven. There are 2 local beaches within 2 minutes from the house.
This is a brand-new modern home set back in a private setting on a wooded lot where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This house is perfect for couples, small families, or a small group of friends.

Shannon is a FIVE STAR HOST! She was quick to respond to all of my questions and needs. Her rental home is a new house, clean and nicely decorated ladies. The home provides all of the appliances you find in your own home. Including dish washer, washer and dryer. It is obvious Shannon has gone to great links to provide her guests with everything they may need, make your stay special and to make her home your home away from home. She provided all the Keurig coffee pods you may need, ingredients for s'mores, microwave popcorn, snack bars, a cabinet full of spices, pods for the dishwasher and washer. What a nice touch. The house has a beautiful covered deck, gas grill and fire pit all in a wooded setting. The house is in a rural, private setting, but a short drive to the beach, local cities and attractions. For us on a golf trip it was a central location for travel to the many great golf courses the area has to offer. I am not very good at at planning trips like this. So thanks Shannon for making planning this trip so much easier! Rent this property for a great vacation! Thanks Shannon.

This was our yearly MI family vacation with multiple familys. House was done so cute and very clean. Everyone had their own bed, space and the common areas were perfect for eating and hanging out. Literally 4 min from a great beach which was perfect being so close we can run back to the house if we forgot anything or if a little one needed a nap while others stayed on the beach. Cute intown pizza place although we just cooked at the house. Would stay her again! Definitely recommend!

Everything was exactly as shown and described. Shannon was very responsive and helpful with any questions before or during our stay. The location is perfect being half way between South Haven and St. Joseph's. Hagar Park/Beach was amazing and not at all crowded. We will definitely stay again!

We've stayed at many places in the US over the years and found that the term home away from home is greatly overused. But this here is the true home away from home. You have everything you need and then some. Space, cleanliness, amenities, and sufficient indoor and outdoor space. Room to play, relax, enjoy and just be close to nature. I love the location because even though your close to everything, you're tucked in the woods and get a different vibe. The host is friendly, kind, responsive and just knows what she's doing. She has a gem of a home and we cannot say enough good things about it. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Great Place

We enjoyed our stay very much! The property was great! House was new, clean, and spacious. Loved the deck and s’mores by the fire. Only thing missing was beach towels. We did bring our own so we were all set.

The property had plenty of space and a great covered porch area that we hung out on quite often. There were all the utensils, pots and pans and everything needed to make dinners. Just note that it is on a well system so if you’re not used to that, make sure to bring some water bottles. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely stay here again. The owner, Shannon, is very responsive. Thanks for a great family vacation!

This house had a great location and was easy to get to the beach and to surrounding areas for lots of day trips to explore. Plenty of beds for 3 adults and 2 children. Home was very new and in good shape. We enjoyed the backyard and large deck.Shannon was very responsive when we had a few (very minor) issues come up. She was very easy to work with. Our kids don’t always sleep well away from home and struggled to adjust to the new noises and would have done better with tvs in the bedrooms to help with falling asleep, so plan to bring a white noise machine or other sound options if you have similar sleepers. The house was also well stocked, but our only other (minor) complaint was that the towels were pretty thin and some had stains and holes, so I would probably pack my own next time.But these were very minor complaints and overall we had a great time. Would definitely return to the area and stay here again!

The Time of Our Lives

My husband and I stayed 3 nights with our son, his wife and their 3 children. We loved everything about the house. There wasn't anything needed that wasn't there. We spent 2 days at Silver Beach and it was perfect! Shannon was a great host with great communication. We would love to visit again!

Perfect place for a vacation

We loved that the house was in a wooded area. The fire pit and covered deck was awesome! We spent a lot of time relaxing but were still close enough to beaches and attractions. The house was very inviting, clean, and had everything we needed. We will definitely really book again!

Great weekend rental

We had a family wedding in Benton Harbor and needed a place to stay. This house was wonderful - clean, comfortable and had everything you could need. Lots of parking, clean open floor plan, beautiful outdoor deck & firepit, stocked kitchen with basic supplies. Perfect for our weekend stay! Would stay there again for sure!!

We enjoyed our stay in Coloma. the location was nice at the end of the road. the wooded area behind the house made it feel private. it was close to many of the Lakes tourist areas. Shannon was helpful and easy to communicate with. the fixing for the s'mores was a very nice touch along with the water and snacks. it was great to have the washer and dryer. the fire pit and deck were very nice, unfortunately the weather kept us inside most of the time. thank you Shannon

Girls Getaway

Relaxing Weekend Getaway

My aunt, mom, and I spent the weekend at this lovely property. Shannon was an amazing host who made the check in and check out process as simple as possible. She truly thought of everything needed for the perfect cottage getaway. She had chargers, items to make s’mores, dishes, tourist guides, you name it. You name it she had it. It was clean and spotless and even better than the pictures. 10/10 would stay here again!

Last year I decided it was time to build a home in Michigan and keep the family traditions going. After much thought I decided I wanted to open my doors to others so they can experience the joy that this area brings to me and my family.
Although Michigan is definitely my happy place, I am an avid traveler. I have been to 8 countries and all over the US. I love learning new cultures and ways of life. Many of my travels have been in Airbnb’s as it allows for a more local vibe. In my early years I was a hotel manager and truly have a passion for making guest experience the best possible.

My name is Shannon, and my family has been coming to Hager Shores for over 70 years. As a child our annual family trip was always to Coloma. Me, my brother, and sister looked forward to spending the days at the beach and the nights around the campfire looking at stars. My adult daughter has also grown up with the same nostalgia.
