Summary:

Dog-friendly 2-home rural SW MI retreat. The Oaks & Pines is a perfect escape for families or groups with up to 3 dogs. Our serene getaway has 2 open-concept homes with 8 bedrooms, 2 hot tubs, a 3-season sun porch/game room + 5 acres. Includes private lake access (1) mile from our 2 homes + 2 cozy fire pits & peaceful forest views. Ideal for up to 20 guests and no stairs!



The Space:

Our dual-home Oaks & Pines listing combines the charm of both White Oaks Haven and Woodland Pines Cottage, offering plenty of space. Set together on one 5-acre, partially wooded lot surrounded by nature, both homes offer year-round hot tubs, fire pits with plenty of seating, and open-concept living spaces.

White Oaks Haven is a much-loved 5-bedroom, 2-bath home that comfortably accommodates 14 guests and sits on a private, half-wooded corner lot. Recently upgraded with hard-surface flooring, this ranch-style home features a three-season sun porch with foosball and air hockey. Relax in the cozy living area with an electric fireplace, or cook up a feast in the well-equipped kitchen with a butcher-block island, then gather around our large 12-seat dining table. Guests will appreciate the custom walk-in shower with seat and hand sprayer, which helps make this ranch-style home even more accessible and comfortable for all.

Woodland Pines Cottage is a cozy 3-bedroom, 2-bath retreat nestled on a portion of the same semi-private, lightly wooded lot next to White Oaks Haven. Perfect for up to 6 guests, the cottage offers an open-concept living space with a 55” satellite-connected HDTV, DVD player, and a small dining area. The kitchenette is compact but well-stocked for your cooking needs (minus a dishwasher), and the well-shaded outdoor patio area features a charcoal grill and a small dining area. The always-open, covered, 4-seat hot tub ensures relaxation in any season.



Guest Access:

Guests will have full access to both Oaks & Pines homes (White Oaks Haven & Woodland Pines Cottage), including our two (2) all-season covered outdoor hot tubs (available year-round, even in winter). RV/camper parking is not allowed, and guests are asked to park only in designated areas due to underground septic systems and buried propane tanks.

Enjoy our nearby unfenced private lake access points (one per home & adjacent to each other), located just one mile away, each of which includes a private dock, canoe, and two (2) Adirondack chairs. If you're interested in kayaking or paddleboarding, rentals are available: $105 minimum ($35/vessel/day). You'll need to let us know at least 3 days in advance & prepayment is required, then we’ll have them ready for your arrival! Local boat rental options may be available, so please ask for details. The public boat launch is just down the street from the private swimming areas.

Check-in time = 5:00 PM; check-out time = 11:00 AM



The Neighborhood:

The Oaks & Pines is just one of our 15 getaways here in Lee Township, Michigan. Come! Join us as we celebrate all four seasons in Southwest Michigan! In spring, enjoy the vibrant blooms and greenery. Summer brings fun on the water—boating, swimming, and soaking up the sun. Fall allows for scenic walks through the nearby Allegan State Game Area and gives everyone a chance to pick that perfect apple from one of our amazing local orchards. And winter offers skiing at one of the local resorts or cross-country trails, snowmobiling, lake or pond ice skating, plus plenty more snow-filled fun.

We’re just 10-15 minutes from Crane’s Orchards and Dutch Farms - amazing pies and fruit picking. Enjoy a tasting and tour of local favorite Fenn Valley Winery, one of the many vineyards our area is known. For antique lovers, the area has a treasure trove of stores in South Haven, Allegan, Douglas, and Saugatuck. Summer brings adventure in the sun, featuring Saugatuck dune rides, sparkling South Haven beaches, biking trails, and fresh fruit aplenty: cherries, blueberries, raspberries, and peaches will be ripe for picking here in the farming heart of Southwest Michigan.

Note: We aim to maintain a peaceful environment for all our guests and neighbors. Large, disruptive parties are not allowed.



Getting Around:

To explore all the amazing spots in Southwest Michigan, you’ll definitely need a car! We are conveniently located near several key coastal towns—just 15 minutes from downtown South Haven, 20 minutes from Saugatuck, and 25 minutes from Holland.



Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) is located just under 45 miles SE of this home.

Gerald R. Ford Int'l. Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is located about 57 miles NE of this home.

Amtrak's Pere Marquette line runs daily between Chicago, IL, and Grand Rapids, MI through both Bangor, MI (15 miles south) and Holland, MI (25 miles north).



Please note: We currently don’t offer electric vehicle (EV) charging on-site. Attempting to charge an EV here damages our electrical system; any violations will incur a $400.00 fee plus any repair costs. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly!



Other Things to Note:

**As of Fall 2024: We’re excited to welcome up to three (3) fully-grown small or medium-sized dogs per stay (two in White Oaks Haven plus one in Woodland Pines Cottage)! We’re unable to host cats or other animals. A non-refundable dog fee of $50 applies, and guests are responsible for all damages.



To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone:

1. Dogs must not be left unattended unless safely crated.

2. Please keep barking to a minimum so everyone can enjoy a peaceful environment.

3. Help us protect the furniture by keeping your dog off uncovered surfaces. We’ve provided blankets and towels to make things dog-friendly.

4. Clean up after your dog and dispose of waste in the provided scooper and disposal can.

5. Only fully house-trained dogs are allowed (puppy pad training isn’t permitted).

6. Please keep your dog leashed when outside, as the yard is unfenced, and follow leash laws at Upper Scott Lake access nearby.

7. Do your best to clean up dog hair and other messes before you leave.

8. For health and safety, we kindly ask that dogs not be bathed inside. We’ve got an outdoor hose and towels for rinsing off your pup after an adventure.

High-speed Wi-Fi is provided by 123Net, offering reliable connectivity throughout the home for streaming, video calls, remote work, and multiple devices. Feel free to log in to your favorite streaming services during your stay.

Loud parties with excessive alcohol/drug use are not allowed. All drinking games are prohibited. Township-mandated quiet hours are from 10 PM to 8 AM daily. We ask that nothing be stuck to our walls since this will damage the paint. You may not use tinsel, glitter, confetti, feathers, etc. during your stay since these leave a mess that is hard & time-consuming for our small staff to clean up.

No EV charging, fireworks, smoking/vaping (except in the designated area), or marijuana use (anywhere on the property). No exceptions.

Great place for family of 15, ages 1-65! Outdoor space was awesome for yard games. Well stocked kitchen which was great since we cooked all of our meals. I would highly recommend!

Loved “being away” from the tourist areas and truly spending quality time with my family. The limited mobile service was a plus too! We were able to have great conversation without interruption and be outside! My son’s graduation was the icing on the cake of this trip!

The big house has plenty of hang out room for a large group. Love the huge table for meals. Nice big yard for outdoor games and kids to run around. Only wish you had a picnic table near the fire pit for evening games by the fire. Lake access is nice for a small lake. They have a small sand area , picnic table, chairs and canoe. Great for small kids or folk that just want it very laid back and close to the houses.

Terrific and spacious double property that supported our family of 17 and a dog. The homes were immaculate and our hosts were very accommodating in answering all questions quickly and helping us find local food places. The great room in the main house was perfect for meals and gathering for fun and games. A favorite space was the 3 season room with views of the garden and expansive green space—so peaceful!The “older” generation appreciated having the smaller home for a quieter space to head to bed earlier, and wake up early without interrupting the late night games of the 20-40-year-olds. The homes had all needed extras including some baby gear and a needed pet bed. Everyone enjoyed their stay!Thank you for the lovely and comfortable accommodations!

This would have been a great vacation if the weather had cooperated. However, there were two storms with high winds. Power was out for nearly 24 hours and though 120,000 other locals were without power, this property was among the 3% who were last to be restored. I put this here so that travelers can be aware that the Palmer area is a rural locality.We enjoyed the property, lakefront, and peace and quiet (other than being on a fast main road), It’s a wonderful couple acres. Wish we could have enjoyed it even better, but we made full use of what we could until the lack of power was unbearable. The hosts communicated a very good emergency plan in the Vrbo app, which without power we couldn’t access (some of us had cell service and others of us had it knocked out.). So we couldn’t get full advantages but they offered water and ice and more which were greatly needed at this time. The host gave good advice about a day trip which we had reasoned out ourselves, so very wise.Best amenities we appreciated in these tough circumstances were the lanterns, flashlight, and first aid kit (clamshell in the water cut a kid’s foot at the beach).We appreciate the host and the property manager attempted help. We especially appreciated their understanding about our challenges with checkout - most of us had fled a storm and only one guy could return to finish moving out for checkout, and flexibility about us getting our own boats off the waterfront late due to the storm circumstances!
