Great location, heart of the Hip Strip

Great location, home was clean and everthing worked only negitive was the neighbor was remodeling from 8:00a until 7:00p every day. Has 24-hour security and as soon as you walk out the door taxis are ready and waiting and immediately as you walk down the spiral staircase. The balcony offers a nice view the host was exceptional very attentive to our needs

Very clean and cozy spot. it like home away from home, I like where it is location is very close to margarita Ville if your into having a good time like dancing also it across from Doctor Cove beach.

Great location and friendly security

We were pleasantly surprised with the amazing location. The beach is right out the door and some great restaurants within walking distance. The balcony was perfect for plays card games. The housekeeper was very friendly!

Misrepresented

False advertising. Lists Pool and restaurant on roof. Both out of service. List price - over 4000.00CAD. We paid 4175.00US. 40% more. Our host, Errol, did not tell us any of this though asked about pool and restaurant. He did give us back 400US after we complained. His place was clean and well located. He seems very nice..

Errol is the guy. 5 star rental property owner. He did everything smoothly and well. When there was trouble, we got quick answers and help. Recommended to everyone. Great Spot

We just returned from four weeks in beautiful Jamaica. If you want to be in the middle of the Hip Strip, this is a great place. You can walk to restaurants or downtown. Beds are comfortable and its great to have a washer and dryer in the unit. Right across the street from Doctors Cove Beach, unfortunately there is a $5 a day charge per person, but it does keep hustlers out and is an awesome beach. If you are staying long term there is some type of discounted rate. I wish we could have known. The pool is nice and the restaurant serves delicious food, although the service is very slow, but friendly. One can't complain too much however, as the Red Stripes are just $2 and the view is extraordinary. Our biggest issue was the street noise when on the balcony, traffic, honking, and the hotel next door. Not a problem if the door was closed. We never needed air conditioning as Jamaican weather is perfect. The grocery store downstairs is friendly and convenient and the patties are really good. Go early, as they go fast. Hazel sells fruits six days a week in front of the building. Kind of pricey but very convenient and delicious! We had some issues with internet and TV, and Norma was great and kept working on getting the problems fixed. Errol was very professional and went out of his way to make our stay great. He even called us from the states to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the internet TV problems. He then had Norma give us a cell phone with international minutes on it since our phones didn't work in Jamaica. We had a wonderful stay in the condo and highly recommend it.

Perfect location and setup

To begin with, the doorman, day or night was very nice and a good filter to the locals should they decide to try and come thru. Having a supermarket, tho small, was just the thing - and only 1 floor down so I rarely bothered with the elevator. Really never needed anything more. The Condo was very comfortable and way more room than needed for just 1 couple. Liked the fact that both of us had our own sink and the washer and dryer were a handy thing too. Had some difficulty figuring out the TV, but finally got it working and the cable was on the blink but managed to get a connection to another unit for my stay. You can actually see the sunset from the porch this time of year but usually I walked across to Bigg to watch and have a beer. At that time the beach was usually closed. Believe it or not the little portable jerk chicken vendors on the street, were fab. The hotel next door (to the right as you walk out) had a jerk vendor in the evenings and the breakfast there was wonderful. We also grabbed a spaghetti dinner there one night as we just had a hankering for some, and it was perfect too. The beach was where we spent most of our time - the mornings were clearer for snorkeling and I do advise doing a lot of snorkeling. Careful as some of the reefs are close to the surface and have a lot of things on it like fire coral and sea urchins you wouldn't want to step on. The goat at the beach was delicious if you don't mind picking thru the bones. All in summary it was relaxing and simple just to hang out. The houseboat closer to town was the best food but expect it to take quite some time after your order for dinner. I'm ready to go back already! - one more thing, only 2 ATMs in that area, the one to the left has been compromised so it is out of serivce, the one to the right is fine - only gives out money in Jamaican dollars and it seemed you get a better deal when paying that way. Don't go at night by yourself, lol. The other ATMs are at the airport and in town, at least the one to the right they did refill every morning. A good time to stock up.

OK, not great.

Erroll and Zona were great. The unit was clean and well equipped. It does really need a redo. The pool was very nice. We just did not enjoy MoBay as much as other parts of Jamaica. The Doctors beach was nice, but only open 8 to 5. They charge for everything, admitting, chairs, umbrellas. The Hip strip is just blocks of tourist shops.

I have been spending time in Mobay for almost 40 years. I love it.

The Montego Bay Club is badly in need of paint and upgrading. However, security was good, The pool was clean and the grocery was well stocked. Apartment 327 has a very bad view. The patio door was not in good shape and the kitchen and small appliances were dirty. The shower was not working correctly and someone should be available when renters arrive to show them how TV operates. We also were not told about the phone deposit at the front desk so local calls can be made.. There were many useful things in the apartment but, I am not sure I would rent it again but would consider renting a different one that is cleaner and with a nicer view. One higher up.

Nice place in a great location

The condo was clean and a bit larger than expected. The convenience store downstairs had everything we needed. Great location near Doctors Cave Beach. The street hustlers can be a bit annoying but a polite “no thank you” usually keeps them away. We will definitely be back.

My new home away from home

After staying in hotels for at least 40 years in Jamacia, I will never stay anywhere besides this condo. It has everything you need and is in a perfect location. It was very safe for two women in their 60's traveling together. The little market on the second floor was most convenient and the restaurant on the penthouse level was convenient if you did not want to "go out" for a meal or cook. The pool on the penthouse level was nice for the days you did not want to go to the beach but wanted some sun. The balcony at the condo was positioned in such a way that you caught a wonderful breeze constantly - we spent a good deal of time out there have coffee and or cocktails. A big surprise was that there were 2 sinks in the bathroom allowing both us to have our own little private area. The water pressure in the shower was plentiful. The beds were comfortable and had adequate storage to hang our clothing. The owner was very helpful and had very communication with us. Can't wait to go back!

The property is conveniently located on Montego Bay's prime road. They call it the HipStrip.

I love the convenience of leaving my apartment and walking down stairs to the beach. Also, I was able to buy fresh fruits right on the ground floor from the fruit lady. Additionally,I enjoyed my beef patties, my Ackee patties, my shrimp patties--I did try them all from Rasta's convenience supermarket located on the second floor. I was also able to book a tour from the tour desk on the second floor to the Luminous lagoon in Falmouth. What an experience that was ! When I grew tired of the beach I went upstairs by taking the elevator to the penthouse level and relaxed by the pool. Although the apartment had all of the amenities of home, I refuse to cook! I treated myself to some awesome authentic Jamaican cuisine by the Seaview Restaurant located on the top floor next to the swimming pool. Staying at this apartment was indeed a relaxing retreat. I had everything at my fingertips I could walk downstairs walk the road at nights to Margaritaville to dance the night away where to visit the blue jazz bar to have a nice tropical martini. The jet set a retreat at the Montego Bay Club what is the ideal spot for a real summer getaway. It was relaxing, home like, convenient and had everything that I look for for an awesome vacation.

Perfect for spring breakers but not if you are used to more luxury

I rented this place so I could have a cheap place to stay with enough room for me, my mother and husband so we would not be on top of each other. The place was spacious enough, it smelled like it was cleaned, it is just an older property that is falling apart. If you need a cheap place to stay and you are just looking to sleep there but be out and about most of the time, this place is perfect. It is right across the street from doctor caves beach and it is a good location (right on the hip strip) so plenty of shops there to browse around and bargain for trinkets. If you are not used to being out of the country in a poor area, then you should probably stay at a resort. But if you want to go to Jamaica and not have to spend a ton of money, this place is good. There is a security that monitors people coming and going so it is fairly safe during the day. Not recommended to be out after dark though for sure.

Excellent Value in Prime Location!

I stayed here with my husband and mom, (on the sofa bed) and everything was exactly as advertised if not better. Our stay was very comfortable and full of options. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and catching the nice breeze. We liked that the unit was only 3 floors up and so close to the on site store where we bought drinks, snack and some groceries. We also got some groceries down town and made meals every other day. Everything is so close from the beach to the little shops and restaurants so you don't really need to take a taxi unless there are specific places you want to see. As for the condo there was nothing we wanted for that wasn't available right there for us. We had no complaints whatsoever and highly recommend this unit. You won't find a better price and location and we would love to stay there again. Thank you Errol for everything, you were a great host and perfect gentleman throughout the rental process :)

Comfortable and accomodating

Overall, I would say that on the whole, it was a satisfying stay. We had a fairly short visit of only 4 nights. Before arriving the owner provided plenty of information on how to make the most of our experience, directions from the airport, where to find food, money exchange, beach access, etc. The building itself is due for some TLC, however security is present at all times at both the upper and lower entrances to the building. The owner checked in regularly to ensure we had everything we needed. We had some trouble with the A/C, but have since learned it was a problem for the whole building and the owner has very little control over such issues, but by our last day, it was cooling very nicely. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals in the unit. The washer and dryer in the room was wonderful. From what I can see of other rentals in the building, this is the only one that provides that convenience. We loved the close proximity to Doctors Cave Beach, as well as being only one floor up from the convenience store, which has a little bit of everything, we didn't realize they had patties until our last day (in a warmer near the cashier with a microwave on top to heat them up). The stairs and elevator are right outside the unit, with only one flight down to the store and another outside large circular stairwell to the street. We never made it to the pool, which explains a lack of review of that area. Miss Hazel, down at the base of the stairs on the Hip Strip (or low road, as old timers call it) always had the most beautiful fruit for sale. She even peeled and cut up a whole pineapple for us and put it in a plastic bag, for the healthiest, sweetest fast food ever! 3 out of 4 of us had our first taste of Star Apple, which Miss Hazel generously gave us at no charge. We ate twice a The Pelican Grill which is within walking distance. Everything was very tasty. The Pelican Grill has been serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for almost 50 years in MoBay. Gracious servers and authentic Jamaican Cuisine. Burgers (tastiest burger ever! as everything tastes better in JA) and fries as well, we had a Jamaican food night and a burger, fries and chocolate shake night. I would definitely stay in this vacation rental again, it was very comfortable for the 4 of us and the price made this trip affordable enough for us to go for it. We will return and stay longer next time. Thank you Errol for your hospitalty
