Capitán Sam Sawyer era un hombre de las Bahamas industriosa que hizo su vida en el mar. En su vida, una esponja y tiburón pescadas. PHENOMENAL visit to GTC!

Everything was great and the people of GTC are AWESOME! The property is a 2 bed/1 bath home on Settlement Creek in New Plymouth. EVERYTHING in town is within walking distance, but we still tooled around in the golf cart. The host Marilyn was warm and welcoming and we felt more like we were visiting with distant, out-of-town family. Once greeted, she let us know where to find her - if we needed anything - but being a small town we did run into her. All was swell and she made it so welcoming! The home was neat and clean and had everything one could want for an easy. relaxing DIY 'away from it all' [meaning - no 'resorts'!], off the beaten track vacation. The locals of GTC could not be any friendlier and we met many new friends! Let's just say this ... WE'LL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Great location for our trip. The house was close to everything we wanted experience. The house was good for 4 adults. Dock is across the street easy access to your boat if you bring one.

Great Vacation

This was our first time staying in an island “town”. It was different and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Every day we met more locals and they made us feel right at home. Two of them went fishing with us on different days and it was such an original experience. The house was perfect for the two of us and very cozy.

Great location in the heart of New Plymouth

Quaint and historic home in the heart of New Plymouth. Restaurants, groceries, and wine available within walking distance. Golf cart mode of transportation is always fun! An enjoyable stay on Green Turtle Cay.

Clean and neat. On Main Street.

Without water and power for two days due to the previous hurricane . It would have been nice to have a generator for those times.

Great Location

Cap’n Sams is located right in the heart of Green Turtle’s town, New Plymouth. Walking distance to many restaurants and bars and just a short golf cart ride (included with rental), to everything else GTC has to offer. The home also comes with a dock so bring your boat (3’ MLW). Sleeps 4 comfortably and the AC is ice cold.

Great location, free golf cart, and amazing people!

Really enjoyed the convenience of the location. Right downtown in New Plymouth with a dock within steps of your front door. We had a boat rental so it was perfect location for us. The golf cart was a huge bonus however you can pretty much walk to any of the shops and restaurants in New Plymouth within minutes. What an amazing island, we can't wait to come back!

Lovely New Plymouth Town, Green Turtle Cay Historic Cottage

Lovely little cottage with New Plymouth water front view and dock. Everything you need for a nice quiet stay on Green Turtle Cay. A nice view of the waterfront and ferry landing makes for interesting time on the comfortable enclosed porch watching the boats come in and out of New Plymouth. Very quiet and comfortable. Golf cart makes everything on the island easy to get to and location makes the stay fun and interesting as well and convenient. Owners are on the island and any problem or question is addressed immediately. Very nice stay.

As if location wasn't enough to make Cap'n Sam's Cottage the perfect choice, their hospitality is always first class. A cozy cottage with comfortable beds after a long day on the boat and cold A/C with all the amenities you will need during your stay. Dockage for our boat right out front makes this an obvious choice for us. Within walking distance to customs, shopping & restaurants in town. Booked again for 5th year in a row.

we love GTC. This year, Marilyn met us at the ferry, gave us both hugs, and said "welcome home". We love the fact that GTC has no-one up in your face trying to sell you dodgy stuff, no beggars, no litter and no crime. Y'all can walk around at 3am in perfect safety. Never had a bad meal. Its a little more expensive than Florida ( no more expensive than Nova Scotia) but this is not significant for us. Best beaches in Abaco, no crowds, great fishing

Great location, perfect accomodation!

We have been coming to Green Turtle Cay for over a decade but have never stayed in town before. We chose Cap n Sam's based on its location on the waterfront in town and the fact it also had a private dock where we could keep a rental boat if desired. We throughly enjoyed the property, it had all the ammenties one would need to cook if so desired including a grill. The house was perfect for 2 adults and was nicely furnished. We loved our stay so much we booked a trip back next year! Thank you Marilyn and Jim and your team for making our stay so wonderful! Jason & Jen

As always, GTC & the Abaco's is great

This is a wonderful house, dead in the middle of town. Everything works well. Bar b que is typical Bahamas, but works fine. The house is cute, yet functional for 4. We loved the personalized service from Marilyn too. Met us at the ferry dock (50 yards away) & helped with all our little bags. Definitely will be staying again. Great location & views!

Capt n' Sam's is out favorite place to stay on GTC; our 3rd year back & already reserved for 2018! Marilyn & her team are great host. Greeting us at the dock & helping us unload our boat. They had the house ready with fresh flowers, a/c running & golf cart ready to take off in. Freshly remodeled with nice nautical feel -- it was perfect. As always a/c was cold & comfortable beds after being out on the water. Walking distance to our favorite restaurants, shopping, site seeing & sun sets or take the cart to explore the island. Sat at the dock every night enjoying the views. Our 28 foot boat had no trouble getting in or out, even in low tide. Nice cleaning table to clean your catch of the day. The place to stay -- especially if you have a boat.

Green Turtle Cay is fantastic!

We had never been to Bahamas before and we were a little intimidated about renting an unknown property in another country but the owners/staff of Capt. Sam house made it a breeze. We flew into Treasure Cay, took a 5 minute taxi ride to the Green Turtle Ferry, and a 10 minute ferry ride to the island.( Ferries are proudly reliable and frequent) and we were met at the dock by Marilyn and Sam to take us to the house which was only 100 yards away. They showed us the necessities of the house and got us our golf cart ( very helpful). House is nicely decorated and had all the luxuries of home like cable TV, wifi, air conditioning and cooking utensils. We took the golf cart to multiple gorgeous beaches daily and explored every nook and cranny of the island. Groceries were easily available although pricey compared to US. Many great restaurants to choose from. Being in New Plymouth was fun as we got to see all the goings on of the small town. Best part of the trip was how friendly all the GTC people are. We will be back!

Very Special Cottage, Island and People!

Our recent family vacation memories often get me thru daily stressful days. Just have to close my eyes and I'm back having my morning coffee on the front steps of Captain Sam's Home....waving and morning greetings from all the locals who walk by. There is a delightful easy activity at the nearby ferry and I enjoy being a part of it so much. This was our 3rd vacation to Green Turtle Cay and always stayed at Captain Sam's Home...and always will! The owners Marilyn and Jim make sure everything is perfect for our stay. And their team member Sam assists us with any of our needs plus by far the happiest person I've ever met. Every single time he greets you, he wishes you a "Super Duper Day! And that is exactly how you feel staying there. The home is just wonderful with a living room in front filled with windows and great light, two very comfortable bedrooms, large dining room table, back patio with BBQ grill, and very well stocked kitchen. We completely make ourselves at home and so easy to do there. Kitchen has all that we need to prepare the daily conch and lobster that we catch ourselves or purchase from the local fisherman that we now consider friends. Or we hop on our convenient golf cart that comes with the rental of home and head to the local grocery stores in town to decide what is for dinner tonight. We love the grocers, Sid's, Lowe's and Curry Grocery Stores. They take such great care of their customers. Or we decide to walk right over to Harvey's restaurant or The Wrecking Tree for "Fried Chicken in a Bag"- yes, just say yes and order it! Yum! Or even talk to our Super Duper Sam and his Mother will prepare a real local dinner of Fried Conch, Peas and Rice and my ultimate favorite Macaroni and Cheese. It is worth every single penny! We highly recommend Captain Sam's House to everyone we know. It is the most special place as you rent the home and golf cart to explore the gorgeous island but you get so much more...you become part of the island life and the people.

Absolutely what we needed - perfect setup

My trip was a father/son fishing vacation. I rented a 21' center console from Sunset Marine which was less than a mile away, and tied it right up at the Cap'n Sam's dock. It could not get more convenient than what we experienced. The house was clean and cozy. Kitchen was well equipped, and we sure cooked a lot of fresh fish. I won't say much about the fishing here because I would like it to remain "unspoiled" but on this my 2nd trip to GTC, I would say one of the best fishing trips ever. Having the Golf Cart was a great bonus, because when you are out on the boat from 7am to 5pm, the last thing you want to do is get back on it to go for a drink or dinner. The location of the house doesn't really even require the golf cart though - so much right within walking distance but even if you don't get a boat, the golf cart can bring you to countless world-class picturesque beaches that you would probably have all to yourself. The locals are very nice friendly people. I have never felt threatened or uncomfortable in GTC - all great people.

Excellent Stay at Cap'n Sam's

We stayed at this lovely cottage on the waterfront during the New Year's week. It has everything you could possibly need for a one week stay. It has a convenient porch from which to see all the activity in the harbor and a private dock. During our stay we enjoyed watching the Junkanoo parade from our door step. It also has a full kitchen with newer appliances and enough dishware for a small family. It was a warm winter so the air conditioning was on and it worked fine. We were also able to use the WIFI and cable TV provided to our satisfaction. We found the location was perfect for a first visit to New Plymouth within easy walking distance to restaurants and the small grocery stores in town. The golf cart included in the rental is HUGE. It is the main means of transportation on the island and your only way of visiting the best beaches on Green Turtle Cay. It would cost you $250-300 to rent one for one week so the fact that it is included in the rental is a blessing. The owner is very personable and made sure the cottage was in good condition before we arrived. We highly recommend Cap'n Sams to anyone visiting the island.

Just what we were looking for......

Just an awesome experience from start to finish. Before we left our house, we had plenty of available support for all island info via email or telephone from the owner/staff, and were able to help us set up the things we wanted to do there. Jumped off the ferry at the GTC public dock and walked the 100 feet to the front door of the cottage which had been very well-prepared for our arrival. The cottage had everything we needed to enjoy our week there, including superb air conditioning and a nice golf cart at our disposal for transportation all over the island. The residence was very clean, and is fully equipped for a nice standard of living. There is staff present next door during the daytime, and are very accommodating for any questions, needs or problems we may have. The private boat dock right out the front door is a true gem of a feature, enabling us to be on the water in just minutes after closing the front door. The island residents are very friendly and social, the food at the local restaurants is outstanding, and everything is a short walk from the cottage. There is no doubt that we will return to GTC, and when we do Capt'n Sam's Cottage is where we will put our feet up for another week.
