I believed I was scammed by this host! One week prior to the stay they called to say the road leading up to the house needed repairs and I could cancel or they could offer me another place that was not on VRBO. Since my trip was less than a week away for a big event at the convention center, I was worried about finding another place that would be able to host my family and pet. The host uses a property manager who called me to explain the offer, saying the other house was wonderful, better than the advertised house on VRBO and we should be happy. I should have realized then I was going to get scammed. The house is list for sale, and the link was sent to me. The pictures on the link, did not look too bad and things looked minimal, but clean/updated. So, I thought I was being nice and doing them a favor decided to just stay there. OH MY goodness.. Upon arrival - THIS was not what the house looked like inside. They used AI or something to make the house appear clean and updated in the pictures!! The carpet was covered in stains from the 70s, the couches were absolutely disgusting! The floors are warped in areas has if been under water. We were afraid to touch or sit wondering about all the stains. We immediately began calling hotels knowing we would not enjoy our stay here. The host said that they could not refund me because the trip had started, and I needed to call VRBO. VRBO said the host can refund me, but didn't. Now I'm waiting to hear back from VRBO. Complete scam.
