House was as described and really great layout/well appointed. Comfortable. Very easy to work with host. We would absolutely rent the home again. Pool area was really wonderful—even in December!!

Great Historic Galveston Property

We had a lovely stay at the Sandpiper for a dance competition with 5 moms and daughters. It was well located and convenient to The Strand and Seawall. Great home, overall!

Our family joined us at the Sandpiper House to celebrate our son's graduation from University of Houston. We had a fabulous time!! The home was perfect for all 12 of us and we never ran out of hot water!! Cary was excellent with responding to all of our questions. Definitely Five Star hosts!

The house was even more amazing than the glowing reviews make it seem. Stunning property, me and my bachelorette group had an amazing time. There are a few notes I would like to highlight that might help future travelers:1. The layout was hard to understand from the listing. There’s 4 bedrooms upstairs, with 1 secondary king suite with a detached bathroom downstairs. Technically 8 people are sharing one bathroom upstairs. If someone is staying in every bed, you’ll likely need to share the primary en suite bathroom. 2. The bunk suite works for 4 adults maximum. They have twin trundle beds underneath but I think you’d need to pull those into a different room for them to be operable. The bunk room was tight and there was very little storage. 3. The pool is deeper and larger than it looks in the photos!4. There was standing water in the upstairs bathroom shower that we told the owner about but wasn’t fixed during our stay. 5. The AC turned off on the first floor but the owner was able to resolve this promptly. 6. The kitchen was smaller than I exoected but it’s very nice.7. There is not a tv in the living room! This was such a bummer as a movie night was on our itinerary. 8. There’s a ton of outdoor seating. 9. When we arrived, the fridge and freezer took several hours to cool down. 10. The AC did end up working well. There’s one room upstairs that’s warmer than the rest but there are fans through out the house. All in all, book it! You won’t regret it.

Cary is a wonderful, responsive host! The home is beautifully designed and impeccably clean. Any minor issues were handled promptly and professionally, which we greatly appreciated.One note for future guests: the listing indicates Bedroom 5 has 6 beds, and even when I asked for clarity, I was told it could accommodate up to 10 guests. Unfortunately, this did not work well for our adult group. While the four double beds are comfortable, the trundle bed is not suitable for adults. This setup is fine for families or small children (the trundle), but it did not meet the needs of our women’s retreat.Overall, it’s a phenomenal home, and I would happily book again for a family stay or smaller group—just not for a group of 12 adult women.

The property was beautiful, very nicely appointed, and pristinely immaculate. We rated the pool as good simply because we never had a chance to use it during our stay. We were, however, very impressed with the design and beauty of that area. The only reason we rated the house as good instead of excellent is due to a couple of problems that we encountered. The king bedroom on the west side of the house would never cool down and was too uncomfortably warm for one of our friends to sleep in. She was forced to sleep in the bunk room next to it which maintained a nice cool temperature - so maybe a ductwork issue?? There was an issue with the TVs in the upstairs bedrooms. We could only get them to turn on, but we could never do anything past that. Could never get them to move from the initial page to any setting to allow us to watch an actual show, movie, or program, and could never find any instructions on how to explain how to get it to a useable playing mode. Because we were on a tight schedule we never had time to report these problems.And we also wanted the owners to know that when we arrived there was water on the kitchen floor and what looked like some buckling on the ceiling just as you stepped into the kitchen from the dining room, so there may be a small leak somewhere. We do want to say that we had a wonderful time at the Sandpiper and we would love to come back in the future. Thank you for your hospitality!
