Burglarized

Someone broke into the house at 1am and stole our items. The property manager states we needed to go through customer support to be reimbursed for the days we didn’t stay as we no longer felt safe there. VRBO customer support took our complaint and then closed the case without doing anything. It has been very difficult to reach customer electricity went out for must if the day, parties going on, construction workers across from us that made us Leary and the security

Great location, lot of space. Great host, very helpful in getting us checked in and quick to respond to our needs. I just wished there were places to hang towels in the bathrooms and some reading light near the beds.

Il s’agit d’un deux étoiles pas plus qualité /prix n’y est pas

Lieu qui a besoin de rénovation : Nous ne recommandons pas cette maison. Bien que la maison est belle apparence sur les photos, elle manque beaucoup d’entretien. Si vous chercher pour une maison 5 étoiles, celle ci offre au mieux 2 étoiles. L’eau chaude est uniquement pour les douches, le bbq est en piteux état, très sale. Les chambres n’ont pas de garde robe , ni support ni aucun crochet pour y mettre les serviettes. Le ménage était très moyen.Le propriétaire fait des rénovations mais il est loin d’avoir terminé. La porte avant laisse de nombreuses fentes et nous pouvons voir à l’extérieur pour les moustiques et les fourmis se promènent à l’intérieur de la maison( comptoir et table de la salle manger. La cuisinière et l’ameublement sont en piteux états. Les prises de courant ne fonctionne pas dans la cuisine. Le comptoir de la salle de bain de la chambre des maîtres n’est pas fixé et est dangereux . Le plafond dans la chambre au Rez de chaussée est en décomposition.

Great home base

I will start with the pro’s. The check in process was easy, location was excellent if you have a car. It is in the edge of town which makes it quiet and in a gated community making it feel really safe and private. There is a great soda close by for meals if you don’t want to cook. The yard is huge and the pool was great. Overall the house was bigger than we expected, excellent view if the weather cooperates. Comfy furniture to relax after a long day. The fortuna areas has so much to do for any type of traveller. We would of went 5 stars with the property but we got turned off by some ants that took over the kitchen. This was partially us not being familiar with how to take care of them and I am sure Danny will have taken care of it by the next renter. I would agree with some of the previous reviews about no towel hooks, water gets on floor in the upstairs ensuite and the towels are so new they leave a little lint. Overall this house is great just with some rustic elements of the area.

Convenient for weekend travel plans

Great location for needing a spot close to all the activities La Fortuna has to offer. The outside area was great for relaxing in between our activities.

Place has Potential but too many negatives for us!

We left a day early! The outdoor set up and pool are the nicest part of the house. With a little bit of investment and some elbow grease, this house could be amazing, however the negatives outweighed the positives for us. The shortcomings mentioned in previous reviews had not been taken care of when we arrived - most importantly, the faulty and dangerous outdoor fireplace. The inside reminded us of a college rental - ie. Ripped sofa, bad lighting, no side lamps in any room, no hooks to hang towels or a place to hang clothing, loose faucet in primary bathroom, backed up drainage in shower, several outlets that didn't work, no screens on any door or window and, constant neighborhood construction noise starting at 7:00 a.m. Other than that, the location is close to town and the view of the volcano is awesome! P.s. Danny supplied a toaster, more towels, blankets and a blow dryer so, those complaints were resolved.

Beautiful setting

The highlights were the beautiful view of the volcano from the master bedroom balcony, and the backyard with sitting area and pool. We were lucky to have a great sunset on our first evening and then drinks and snacks around the pool. It was quiet in the evening. The location provided easy access to places we wanted to go.

Not happy with house

Lots of ants on kitchen counter, hot water breaker would trip. No toaster, not enough cooking utensils or bbq utensils. Bbq was in poor shape. Pool light didn’t work, pool lounger was broken. The taps were loose in upstairs bathroom. No glass tray in microwave. Very dangerous fire pit. Should have cover on it. Exploded 2x during our stay. Pictures showed pool table and trampoline which did not exists. Host Danny did respond very quickly any questions we did have. Property needs some tlc. Was very close to downtown la fortuna

Place could have been cleaner

Random lizard poop, I assume, on bedspread and sculpted towels on bed. Bathrooms did not have hand towels. Check in was easy. Never met the host. We loved the fire pit for evenings. I loved watching all the hummingbirds and volcano view was the best!

Great for a family of 4

We really enjoyed our stay at this rental. Starting off was a little rough as we didn’t know wifi password and couldn’t get a hold of Danny because we arrived very late. Our phones didn’t have service because of our carrier so that would have been nice to have upon arrival. Danny greeted us our first morning with 4 extra towels, a welcome gift, and was available for any questions we had. He’s a very nice host. My only recommendations would be a welcome book with frequently asked questions, towel hooks (we just draped the towels on the chairs downstairs), and to figure out the hot water heater (the breaker would trip a lot when we were taking showers). We loved how the neighborhood felt very secure. It’s close to downtown, but yet still very private. Our family of 4 felt very comfortable at this volcano home.

Great property with view of volcano!

The house and property were great! We enjoyed the private outside deck and pool, with the view of the volcano. Both bedrooms have their own AC units, which was needed. Only downside was not having anyplace to hang towels, and not having a bathroom mirror in the bathroom upstairs (it's over the dresser in the bedroom.) Big plus- very comfortable beds! And, you can't beat the view from the upstairs bed, in the morning! Would definitely stay again and recommend!

What a great place!

Despite visiting during the rainy season, which meant that fantastic view of the volcano was covered by clouds, we still enjoyed our stay very much. The house is clean and modern and well laid out with a very comfortable king sized bed in the master suite. The yard is great, with a beautiful pool, covered sitting area and fire pit (also a grill area, which we didn't use). The location is perfect; just outside La Fortuna and convenient access to stores, restaurants and tours, but also very safe feeling. For now the neighborhood it is in is mostly vacant, but other houses were being built, so it may feel less private in the future. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely home base

I would definitely stay here again. Danny was very nice and helpful. The neighborhood is peaceful and well-maintained. Things to keep in mind: There is just enough room for 1 SUV to park in the driveway and still close the gate. Request extra towels as there are two bath towels in each bathroom and no beach towels provided. They did happily bring more towels on request which was nice. When we originally booked there was a bunk bed in the downstairs bedroom but it was a double bed when we arrived. Pics have been updated now though. The property is very cute and you do spend most of your vacation outdoors, but keep in mind there is very little space in the bathrooms and no closets to hang anything. It would be great if there were some towel bars too. The upstairs bathroom has no shower curtain and water does get on the floor (extra towels!) The pool and outdoor area is amazing and we enjoyed coming home to swim after a day of adventuring. Waking up to the volcano view was breathtaking and probably my favorite part. Be sure to inquire about extra guest fees; it was just us and our 2 teens and we had to pay extra. Worth it to be in such a nice place so convenient to town and activities. Will definitely stay again!

Close to town/great backyard

We really enjoyed the backyard at this property. It is very inviting and the pool was a big hit with the kids. The view of the volcano is amazing. Danny met us in person and explained a few things at check in. He was very helpful with what we needed. Also, when we arrived he had fruit and coffee for us. Very kind host!

La Fortuna home with private pool

This property was amazing. Danny was a wonderful host and great with communication. Thank you for the coffee and pineapple welcome gift. We loved it and so thoughtful. House was wonderful. Pool and yard were perfect. The waterfall feature on the pool was a little noisy but, no problem we let Danny know and he switched it over to the pool pump. The Master bedroom. The bed and pillows were so comfy and the sheets were high quality. We were impressed with the quality and slept like a dream. The only thing I would add is a dresser in the small room off the master bedroom so people would have somewhere to put clothes. And a curtain in the master bathroom shower. Whenever we had a question or needed anything (extra towels) Danny was quick to respond and very attentive. Thank you for sharing this amazing home. Neighborhood was gated and private. We had a wonderful vacation and would rent again.

Amazing house close to everything

Our house was adorable with a great backyard. Danny was an excellent host. He communicated with us to make sure we were having a great stay. We had car issues and Danny was willing to help us out! I would definitely recommend staying at this place. The location is very close to La Fortuna!

Amazing view and wonderful property manager

This is an adorable house with a family friendly pool and backyard. The outdoor pavilion was wonderful for doing yoga in the mornings. It was amazing to watch the volcano sunset and live sort of like a “local”. The property manager, Danny went way above and beyond the call of duty to made our stay comfortable and easy.
