Hermoso apartamento recientemente renovado y modernizado; confortable y acogedor con sistema de aire acondicionado en la primera planta de la casa de campo. Tiene hermosas vistas a las zonas verdes llena de árboles y grandes jardines. La casa tiene una habitación doble y una habitación gemela con lavabo. Una cocina tipo galera totalmente equipada. Cuarto de duchas amplio con lavabo e inodoro. Una sala de descanso amplia con comedor y chimenea de carbón o leña. La sala de descanso tiene ventanas grandes con vista hacia el sur y a los jardines de la parte de atrás de la casa. Los huéspedes tienen a disposición el jardín y la cancha de tenis recientemente restaurada.

We stayed here to visit Edinburgh. Jamie was a very friendly and welcoming host who was keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The property is in a beautiful setting and the apartment large and comfortable. It took us around 25 minutes to drive into Edinburgh or 50 minutes on the local bus.

Stayed a month, left feeling revived and relaxed!

We stayed for a month at Helen and Jamie’s home with our three and one year old as we emigrated to UK, and wow, we left feeling like new people with new friends! We loved every moment of our stay. Kids loved the playground right outside the door!

Beautiful property. My son enjoyed the playground. Highly recommend. Was surprised there wasn’t basics like salt and pepper in the kitchen but I shouldn’t have assumed there would be. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Our favourite place in Scotland!

Our family stayed here for 3 nights and had the most amazing time. The house is magnificent with plenty of room for us all to relax. The master bedroom is incredible! Jamie and Helen were lovely hosts and helped us out so much. We loved exploring the farm and felt very much at home. Highly recommend!!

A peaceful refuge

My husband and I stayed for a week while visiting family. It was very convenient, clean and charming. The grounds were a big hit with our 3 year old granddaughter, especially the robot lawn mower! This was very convenient for walking in the Pentland Hills and also a very short drive to Balerno for the local Co-op. The family were very welcoming and helpful.

Nice and spacious Georgian house close to Edinburgh

My wife and I travelled with our two sons (17 and 19) to explore Scotland, we had a rental car, so we did not spend too much time at the apartment indeed. The apartment entrance is at the main house back door, accessing a small lobby which is shared with the main house, so it is easy to meet the lovely owners any time. The staircase is narrow and steep, not feasible for people with limited mobility unfortunately. There is plenty of space for parking a car, and the property is just 10 minutes away by car to one of the many park-and-ride facilities around Edinburgh. It is spacious enough for four people, it was created by splitting the upper floor of the main house. The bathroom has been refurbished recently, the two rooms and the living room are quite spacious with plenty of natural light through wide windows. There are nice views of the Georgian house gardens and surroundings from each and every room. The kitchen might not be equipped for proper cooking – e.g. the smoke extractor is small and in the opposite wall of the kitchen electric stove - but it is good enough to cook basic stuff. There is a Wi-Fi network to access the internet, but it was very slow though. The property is huge and in the middle of the forest, hence very quiet and allows for nice walks or jogging any time of the day. We did not need to heat the apartment, but there are some fireplaces and also radiators everywhere. Helen and Jamie are very nice and friendly.

Simply wonderful!

Absolutely fantastic 3 week stay for myself, my husband and our 3 year old. Property is excellent. Spacious yet cosy! Setting is incredible. An oasis of calm away from the busy city centre, but still within easy reach. Our little boy loved exploring the grounds. Goats, pigs, donkey, horses and chickens. And muddy puddles for splashing in. He had a ball! Host's were so helpful and very friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. 10/10. Thank you!

Lovely stay

Large, beautiful flat up a steep flight of stairs. Parking and entrance in rear of main house. Lovely views of fields and of the family’s pigs, donkeys, and hens. Very well-heated. Helen easy and kind to work with. Hope to stay here again in future.

Relaxing and friendly environment.

2 adults & 2 young children travelled from Wales to stay at the house for the New year. We enjoyed the stay it was like home from home. The children enjoyed visiting the donkeys every morning and collecting food for the pigs. Edinburgh was 20 min drive (highly recommend the events for new year) visited castle & Cramond island. We will be visiting again :)

Very cosy appartement and surrounding.

Comfortable and cosy appartement, very friendly and warm landlords giving a lot of usefull information. Kitchen equipped with everything you need and a little more. Direct bus connection to Edinburgh city center. Liebevoll eingerichtete Ferienwohnung, sehr freundliche und herzliche Vermieter. Gut ausgestatte Küche. Direkte Busverbindung in die Innenstadt von Edinburgh. We"ll come back.

lovely old charmer

Lovely old Georgian home...felt like Jane Austen might be dropping by for tea at any moment. Owners super easy to deal with. Grounds and surrounding farmlands are idyllic. Definitely quiet and removed but still a 2 minute drive to Balerno's little village downtown with co-op, chip shop etc. Farm animals and tennis court were a bonus for my 7 yr old boys - who knew they liked tennis! One thing to note - this is a converted upstairs unit and a spiral staircase that takes you from back of house up to the unit is quite steep and narrow...not sure if it was maybe servants quarters at one time?? I was traveling with my older mom (80) and she was a trooper getting up and down them but it's definitely not for anyone with mobility issues. There is a door that closes and locks at top of stairs so shouldn't be an issue keeping any little ones out of the stair well once you are settled in. Also there are a few stairs inside the unit from bedroom level to living area but these are pretty minor. Really lovely and relaxing...British countryside and charm at its best.

Beautiful building and welcoming hosts in wonderful surroundings

We had a wonderful week in Scotland. We came mainly because of the tattoo and the fringe-festival, but already the holyday-apartment was worth the visit. Staying there is like living in a Jane Austen Novel...:-) We loved the furnishing and the spacious rooms. It was nice to walk in the garden and the woodlands and see the animals (Hungarian pigs, old donkeys and chicken). And the hosts (Helen and Jamie) are very kind. It was a special and wonderful holiday and we will certainly come again.

Wundervolle Ferienwohnung

Eine Wohnung, in der wir uns vom ersten Moment an sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Unglaublich nette Gastgeber-Familie. Wenn man die Wohnung mietet, ist es empfehlenswert ein Auto zu haben. Die perfekte Wohnung für uns, auch wenn wir uns vielleicht eine Spülmaschine gewünscht hätten, dennoch alles bestens. Kann ich sehr empfehlen.

Not quiet what we thought we would find

Not value for money. The appartment is clean and everything works, but the surrounding is not: I mean, the entrance, the (smell off) large kitchen use by the other inhabitants. Disappointing.

Ideal location to relax and play!

Lovely home and such welcoming hosts! The apartment was incredibly comfortable and roomy, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. The location was perfect; a quiet country setting minutes from a lovely village and a quick drive (or train) to Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

Great Place

Sowohl die Fotos als auch die Bewertungen hatten nicht zu viel versprochen. Als wir (Familie mit zwei Kindern, 8+15) nach einem herzlichen Empfang unsere Ferienwohnung beziehen konnten waren wir begeistert. Die liebevolle Einrichtung der Wohnung passt perfekt zu dem tollen Haus. Die Ausstattung ist toll, selbst mehrere Adapter für Steckdosen waren vorhanden. Helen und Jamie waren sehr herzliche Gastgeber, nahmen sich immer Zeit für ein kleines Gespräch und gaben dabei viele Tipps. Für uns war die Wohnung hauptsächlich Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung von Edinburgh. Die Busverbindung von Balerno zum Stadtzentrum mit Taktzeiten zwischen 10 und 30min ist sehr gut.

Magnifique appartement très grand et très bien décoré, très chaleureux, parfaitement équipé, magnifique jardin avec tennis, plein d'animaux (chiens, ânes, cochons !), tres calme, literie très confortable, chambre parentale immense. Propriétaires charmants, discrets et présents à la fois si besoin. Parfait pour visiter Édimbourg et sa région mais il vaut mieux avoir une voiture car un peu excentré à la campagne mais c'est ce qui fait le charme aussi. A recommander +++

Beautiful family friendly holiday house

The house is beautiful and a lot bigger than we expected/perceived from the photos. We were worried about staying away over christmas with our two young children (2 & 4), but we needn't have worried, as the house had been beautifully decorated for Christmas. With a large real Christmas tree in the living room and additional Christmas decorations in the second bedroom. Our stay was very relaxing and quiet in the remote location, but comforting knowing that the owners were close by if we needed anything. We had some lovely days out, visiting the Christmas markets in Edinburgh, which were definitely worth the visit, and the Glasgow science centre, which all 4 of us loved, especially the kids. For families with young children we would definitely recommend it, however we were surprised when we arrived that there were stairs (only 5) in the hallway between the kitchen and the bedroom. For us this was not an issue, as we brought with us a barrier stair gate (over 92cm) to stop the children charging up and down the stairs. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely come back again. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.

Lovely retreat from huzzle and buzzle

Helen`s and Jamie`s historic mansion is just beautiful ! It`s a bit off from Edinburgh city but can be reached easily by car or bus. However, we recommend to hire a car since it allows more flexibility. The rooms are spacious and are perfect for 4 persons. The new bath is also spacious and nicely decorated. A fireplace gives a touch of a romantic holiday ! Fully recommended & very nice proprietors !

A 'True Home Away from Home'

What a wonderful place to stay: comfortably fitted out with all the necessities to make your stay perfect. Each night we were abe to cook up a storm in the kitchen and sit in front of the TV after our meal, enjoying a peaceful night after the day's activities. Blissfully quiet, very clean, with great country side all around and yet so close to Edingburgh. The hosts Jamie and Helen are very helpful and knowledgable about the area. Their array of cute and funny family pets and the odd nervous squirrel made our holiday especially enjoyable. In fact, after getting to know and love the area due to the help of our hosts, we are pulling up stumps in Australia and moving to Scotland!! So, if you are looking for a wonderful place to stay, don't hesitate to book this fabulous apartment, but beware..you may never wish to leave.
