Another great stay

This was our third stay in the apartment and we enjoyed everything. Especially interesting were the many surfers who waited for the best wave even before sunrise. We've never seen so many surfers at once. We were also happy about the almost daily visits of a Hawaiian Monkseal. We will definitely be back in 2026, the long journey is worth it. Ilona & Chris

Makaha Beach!!!

The unit is situated as good as it gets in this complex. Surfer show almost every day. The Pool was great and the service people could not have been nicer or more helpfull. Could use a bit of help on the dusting. The ocean and beach are absolutly awesome.

Awesome place

We really enjoyed staying at this place with our 16 months baby. There’s everything you need in the unit for a perfect vacation. Take a few steps and you’re right on a beautiful and clean beach. Go down the stairs and swim in a warm pool. The ocean was calm during our stay in July. Keep in mind, you’re about one hour drive away from most attractions in the island, so plan accordingly.

Great Vacation again!!!!

That was our second visit and wee spent four wonderful weeks in the condo. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. It is touching to experience turtles and monkseals life dirctly nearby. Selwyn was an attentive host, always available for questions, a big thank you for that. We hope to come again, but it's a long way from Germany tu Oahu. Mahalo! Ilona & Chris

This is a hidden jem overlooking Makaha Beach. A wonderful relaxing experience. A way to enjoy the beach without the crowds. Very accommodate, and helpful owner. Equipped with everything you need. Just don't tell anybody.

AMAZING

This condo was just like the pictures. It was amazing to fall asleep and wake up to the view/sound of the ocean. Unreal. The double lanai was great to enjoy a meal or coffee on. Management and security were all very kind. Sel gave great instructions, very communicative!

Awesome view

Fall asleep to the sound of waves, and wake up to watch the fishermen and the surfers while you sip coffee on your wrap around lanai. Makaha Beach is one of the best on the island - with beautiful blue, warm water. Explore the tidepools as they spread to the north of the condo. (I saw a small octopus there!) Take an evening stroll on the beach, heading south to the point, where we saw turtles playing in the crashing waves. If you want to explore Waikiki, but don't want to fight the traffic and pay to park, take The Bus that's conveniently located close by. ($2 senior day pass!) The condo is small, with a sliding door for the bedroom, but it has everything you'll need, and more, to enjoy all that Makaha has to offer.

Makaha Shores - Value Beyond Expectations !!!!

This unit is amazing in its entirety , for price point , location and amenities included in the rental. If you are looking for an out of the way spot to stay on Oahu , this would be one of those. It is 45min from Waikiki in smooth traffic by car , 1hr in AM rush hour. 1 1/2 hours by city bus which there is a stop right out front of the building. The unit itself is very comfy , 1BR w/ full bathroom , decent eating area for 3 or 4 people and a nice living room. The 'lanai' is wraparound from the living area to the bedroom and is more than adequate for relaxing by the ocean which is 20ft from the balcony. Its on the 2nd Floor of the building which gives the unit a much better vantage point for viewing the water and the beach areas , especially right from bed or on the couch. Million dollar views at sunrise and sunset. The unit included boogie boards , snorkel gear , beach chairs , sun umbrellas and various other items that were used at the beach or elsewhere. Everything you need to have a great day at the beach, which is a two minute walk from the front door. The beach is PRISTINE and empty compared to other beaches in Oahu , the only people there were very friendly locals. The water is very clear , clean and undisturbed. Waves were pretty good at times , depending on swell. Snorkeling was A1 quality for beginners and novices , lots of reef fish to be seen right off shore. 200 yards out will get you to where most West Oahu snorkel tours bring their paying customers day in day out. We had dolphins out front for 5 mornings in a row and the monk seal dropped by for a rest on a few days. Money cant buy that kind of stuff. Very clean and safe saltwater pool in the complex you can use from 9am - 9pm. Laundry on first floor runs on quarters 1.25 per wash and .25 cents for a 15min dry. Parking was great , security on duty at night.Not many sit down restaurants close to the building , lots of good stuff within a 20min drive , google is your friend. Quiet , respectful neighbors as well as all the locals we encountered were nice and friendly as well. No real problems were noticed with the neighborhood as some reviews might elude to. It is a humble building and neighborhood. If you are in to glitz and glam , this is not the place for you. The owner was a great guy , is local and dealt with any issues promptly. In short , if you are a down to earth person/family looking for a great out of the way , value packed place to stay on Oahu AND you have a car , this is your place

I don’t “want” to recommend, because then it will be crowded/taken when I want to return. Lol. It’s fabulous. One of the biggest units and lanais, away from noisy beach park stereos, and so close to the water that it’s like being in a boat on the ocean. Pool is great, and necessary for days when the ocean is rough. Can snorkel right out front. Parking is covered and secure, but was awkward for me. Rent a small car. Only downside is that the ocean can be so loud that you have to talk loudly/turn tv way up. Not really a complaint. 😎 Sel was communicative and friendly. Mgmnt on site, along with security. Neighbors friendly.

Best Place On the Island!!

I've lived on Oahu for many years and I never knew this beautiful little condo existed. Constant views, wave sounds and so much fun and joy. The unit was great with a large expansive balcony to just relax and hide on, away from the babies. The unit is well maintained and a home away from home vibe. Had everything we needed. Didn't need to buy a thing. If you have a lot of work to do or need to telework, may not be so easy because it's so relaxing. We had a lot of work to do on the island so coming home to this everyday was amazing. 10 stars 🤩🤩🤩!!!

Beachfront sunrises and sunsets

The condo unit was exactly as described in the listing. The owner was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to our concerns. The ocean waves crashed feet from our 2nd floor lanai and the expansive sandy beach was just a few more feet. Whale sightings, seals, sea turtles and dolphins were all seen from the lanai as were sunrises over the mountain, rainbows, and sunsets. The beach is perfect for surfing, snorkeling and playing. The location on the west side of the island is more laid back and quiet than other high tourist areas. The grounds and the pool were well maintained with tropical plants and trees. A winning stay!

Get cozy with the ocean

This was my 3rd stay at Makaha Shores, unit 211 by far the best. Less than 20' to the ocean, you become emotionally part of it. I spent two months in this unit and in that much time the ocean becomes something else to a person. Selwyn is a great guy, easy to talk to and more than helpful. The unit has pretty much everything you need and no shortage of fans (the blowy kind)! Lanai is huge with a unobstructed view of ocean at one end to a view of Makaha Beach Park at the other. Surfers galore and waves that will humble you. The complex has a fabulous heated pool, elevator, laundry and grills all within arms reach (well, almost). The property is incredibly well maintained, the staff is friendly and VERY hard working. Thanks Sel, I hope to drop by again!

What a great place to stay. We spent New Years Eve and all of January in this awesome unit. Every morning we woke up to the view from our bed of the surfers riding the waves and the boats carrying the snorkelers to the reef in front of our building. Every evening we watched the whales spouting and breaching and the sunsets from our lanai. Beautiful beach just steps away from our building where we could spend time relaxing on the beach chairs that are supplied in the condo. This unit has pretty much all you need to enjoy a vacation at the beach. There are lovely views all around you from the large lanai, including the ocean, the sandy beach and the mountains behind you. Great base to set out on easily attainable routes to anywhere you want to go on the island. The heated salt water pool was great for days when the surf was too rough for us amateur swimmers to use and nice to have happy hour and meet new friends. Sel was a very easily reached and most welcoming host. Thanks for sharing your condo with us, we will certainly stay here again next time we're back in Oahu.

Urlaub im Paradies - wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wir haben zu zweit 6 wunderbare Wochen im Appartement von Selwyn verbracht und uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Alles im Appartement ist so wie beschrieben, Selwyn ist ein sehr guter Gastgeber, jederzeit erreichbar und sehr hilfsbereit. Auch das Management der Anlage war sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich, ebenso die Eigentümer anderer Appartements, die wir kennengelernt haben. Unser Lieblingsplatz war der große Balkon mit dem fantastischen Ausblick auf den Strand und die Berge und das Meer direkt davor. Wir haben an unserem Strand Schildkröten,Hawaiian Monk Seals aus direkter Nähe und sogar Delphine beobachten können. Ebenfalls empfehlenswert ist die Unterwasserwelt, ein Paradies zum Schnorcheln. Makaha ist der richtige Ort, wenn man fernab vom Trubel Ruhe und Erholung sucht, absolut empfehlenswert!!!

Doesn't get better than this in Makaha!

Like all the other reviews , I have to agree that this is a great place to rent. The view is unbelievable from this condo. You will have everything you need for a comfortable vacation. It is exactly as you see it in the pictures, you will find everything you need in the kitchen, the bed and furniture are clean and comfortable. The patio has two comfy loungers, table and chairs for your meals. It also comes with two brand new Tommy Bahamas folding beach chairs, one new folding beach lounger, a new beach umbrella and an assortment of beach toys. On our first day, Chad, one of the care taker showed us all around the building and explained pretty much all we need to know. If you have been to all of the attractions that Oahu has to offer and you just want to rest and enjoy the beach with a good book, this is the best place that I can recommend. We spent many hours watching whales and spinner dolphins in front of our patio. If you want to visit all the attraction the H1 is about half an hour away . We actually can't wait to come back and this is the only unit we would consider. If you get the chance don't miss out on it. We were here in February and got to see the Buffalo Big Board competition right in front of us. Selwyn is a great guy who is easy to contact and fun to chat with. I have to agree with you in that our unit Makaha Shores #211 is truly an amazing place especially for anyone that wants to get away from the city and loves the surf and sea. I feel sad - like a sense of loss - every time I have to leave after a stay. Makaha really is like being on another Island yet you have all the tourist attractions within a 30-60 minutes drive if you choose. As for the Ukulele playing being "pretty good" and me being a "great guy" now that's a little overstated! ...but thank you anyway. We look forward for your return. Until then A Hui Hou and Mahalo.

Tolles Appartement, überragender Ausblick, erholsame Gegend, gepflegte Anlage, nette Nachbarschaft

Meine Frau, unsere 10 Monate alte Tochter und ich haben einen Monat in den Makaha Shores verbringen dürfen. Abseits des Trubels konnten wir perfekt entspannen. Supermärkte, kleine Restaurants und Fastfood Ketten sind wenige Autominuten entfernt. Ein Auto sollte hier auf jedenfall sein! Das Appartement macht von Anfang an einen super Eindruck, der Ausblick und Balkon sind phänomenal! Meeresrauschen und Surfer direkt vorm Schlafzimmer. Auch Delfine konnten wir beobachten. Der Strand ist direkt nebenan und u.a über den Komplex zu erreichen. Die Anlage ist sauber und gepflegt. Die Manager machen einen super Job und sind stets hilfsbereit. Auch die Nachbarschaft, ein Mix aus Eigentümern und Urlaubern, ist ausgewogen. Alle waren sehr freundlich. Der Aufenthalt mit Kleinkind war ideal. Der Pool war für unsere kleine perfekt, wenn die Wellen zu stark waren. Sel, der Eigentümer, war sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Alles in allem uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen. Wir werden gerne wieder kommen. Mahalo

Here is a translation of your comments:......... . My wife, our 10 month old daughter and I have been allowed to spend a month in the Makaha Shores. Away from the hustle and bustle we could relax perfectly. Supermarkets, small restaurants and fast food chains are a few minutes away. A car should be here anyway! The apartment makes from the beginning a great impression, the view and balcony are phenomenal! Sea noise and surfers directly in front of the bedroom. We could also observe dolphins. The beach is right next door and over the complex to reach. The area is clean and well maintained. The managers do a great job and are always helpful. The neighborhood, a mix of owners and holidaymakers, is also well-balanced. All were very friendly. The stay with toddler was ideal. The pool was perfect for our little one if the waves were too strong. Sel, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. All in all, highly recommended. We will be back. Mahalo

Highly recommended! We want to go again!!

We had a gorgeous time at this codo. Spend on the lanai all the day, never tired of looking at the view. Waves, skies, mountains, swimmers, surfers, anglers, fishes...sea turtles! Have a Breakfast, lunch & dinner had at lanai, it’s just like an exclusive restaurant!(no matter what I made) The owner & residential manager were very kind &helpful. Highly recommended! We want to go again!!

Beautiful, Relaxing & Just as Advertised

This was our first visit to the West Shore of Oahu. The condo was clean & comfortable with a Million $$ view. Makaha Beach is steps away for swimming, snorkeling & surfing. The complex was very secure & clean & included laundry facilities & very nice pool area. This area is not for the typical tourist but if you have a sense of adventure & love a peaceful, less crowded environment this is for you. We checked Trip Advisor for Waianae restaurants and were able to find a few in the area we liked. We traveled all over the island planning our trips outside the busier traffic times. We definitely recommend this condo & would certainly stay again.

Outstanding view of Hawaii's Makaha Bay, Beach.

The owner provided excellent communication via email, telephone and fax as required to facilitate our booking, our stay and our closing of a one month vacation. The unit is in the last large condo unit on the north west coast of Oahu. My husband and I found the unit more than large enough for our needs. The kitchen was recently upgraded. The queen size bed was comfortable. The balcony is exceptionally large and offers spectacular views of the waves rolling on to the shore. Daily we enjoyed our favourite beverage watchings surfers and divers. We had the opportunity to watch whales on the horizon and several times we saw dolphins jumping in the distance. Security in the building was excellent. The residential manager was helpful. Groceries were available within a three mile drive. Surf boards could be rented locally. Golf was great at Makaha Valley CC. We played through Golf Now to get discounts. The residents were a mix of local folks and vacationers. All of us enjoyed the heated salt water pool. There are a number of small local restaurants, but generally this is a quiet hidden away location. It is about an hour from Pearl City and Honolulu due to traffic conjestion on the island. However, if you want to experience the Hawaii that you have seen in old movies, then this is the place. We would recommend it highly to anyone not looking for crowds and noise. This may not be the ideal place for young adults looking for night life as it is very quiet after 9 p.m. You will definitely need a rental car. There is a bus service, known as THE BUS. The service runs regularly, but timing can be inconsistent. We managed to see the entire island by scheduling our trips around the traffic reports. Several shopping excursions were made to local malls. We also found the dryness associated with this side of the island as an advantage to rain associated with the windward side. On the rare occasions when it did rain briefly, we could see beautiful rainbows in the valley behinds us, that led to the mountains that are only a few miles away. We hope to return at some point. The unit facilitated one of our best vacation experiences. Grab a few trip books, and plan to relax at the condo, and drive out to see the island and all its beauty.
