Unwind in Surfside Beach at this lovely cottage. Smell and hear the ocean but set back so you can enjoy your privacy. This cozy retreat features a tropical bedroom with a king bed and a bunk bed for the little ones, perfect for a serene night's sleep. The living room offers a cool space to relax & has a sofa bed for additional guests. Enjoy Gilligans' amazing ocean side deck & bar where you can relax and listen to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, There is also a fenced pet yard with a comfortable sitting area so you can chill with your furry friends.AC, WiFi, and a washer / dryer insure a hassle-free stay. We're happy to assist with any questions during your stay in paradise.........

We were just a quick walk over the bridge to the beach, just like advertised. Great little place that made beach life way. Kevin was great and flexed as our schedule was complicated. Thanks so much! Highly recommend.

Great weekend getaway

Every year, we take a beach trip for my husband‘s birthday. We’ve been to Florida, Alabama, Gulf Coast, East Coast, South Padre Island, and Corpus Christi. This year, we decided to go to Surfside because of how close it is to home, but I was a little hesitant because I’m not crazy about Galveston. To my delight, surfside is a lazy, laid-back beach town. I found Gilligan’s beach hut, and thought it was perfect for my family of five and one small dog. And, it was. Right on the beach, perfect size, and amenities. I especially appreciated the fenced in area for my dog to run around and so I did not have to put her on the leash every time she went outside. We had everything we needed and the communication was great. We are planning to return in August for a longer trip.

The tap water in this house is yellow, smells foul and tastes awful. My dog wouldn’t even drink it. It leaves a film on your skin. The EPA report for poor water quality in Surfside shows 6 cancer causing chemicals above safe limits. Google it. The owner denies the problem. The very nice next door neighbors, who live there, haul 15 jugs a week from the city’s industrial filtered source for daily use because the tap water is so gross. The city offers an industrial filtered source because they also acknowledge the poor water quality! Yet the owner does not. Stay away from this rental unless you like to drink and bathe in slimy polluted water. It’s a shame because it’s a cute and cozy house right near the beach.

Funny-every dog including ours that has been there drinks the water.....I have not had a single complaint about the water until you, and we have no issues when we are there, so why would i have any reason to "acknowledge " anything? It is beach water and anyone who has ever been to a beach anywhere recognizes the inherent taste of municipal water supplies, but it is neither "slimy" or "polluted" Of course drink bottled water, no matter what municipal source you have. The EPA report you mention cites it as safe for consumption but recommends bottled water. You were just working for a discount and I wouldn't bite.......

Kevin, the host, was the easiest & friendliest owner I’ve ever worked with for a stay. He was very communicative, very friendly, had a ton of great information & advice, & really made the trip stress & hassle-free. Such a tremendous experience! On top of that, the home was very well maintained & cared for, had all the amenities you may need, & was literally right next to a beach access boardwalk. Super convenient! In addition to that, this home is definitely pet-friendly, as there is a fenced in yard beneath the home that even has doggie/poop bags conveniently provided in a container that’s mounted to one of the stilts near the stairs. We did not bring our dogs with us this trip, but we will definitely consider doing so the next time we come down. It’s rare that I stay in the same place multiple times, but this experience was so wonderful that my family & I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when we come visit. Kevin has definitely done a great job making Gilligan’s Beach Hut feel like a home away from home. We can’t thank him enough for the wonderful experience & cozy weekend by the sea.

This wonderful little beach hut was damaged in hurricane Beryl summer of '24 but thanks to family efforts has been restored to it's original charm- with the addition of the amazing new outside bar!

"Surfside Beach Village" is the quaint little beach town everyone dreams of visiting- golf carts are a primary form of travel and there's nothing else like driving down the beach. No high rise condo's here......

Beach is right across the dune walkway but house is set slightly back so beach traffic is not right in your face
