Sunrise House sits privately atop a hill with panoramic views of the Bohol sea and the Loboc River valley. It is a 410 square-meter single-story concrete and glass (floor-to-ceiling) home with marble floors and wainscoting throughout. It includes 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a living room, a TV room, a screened porch, a kitchen, and a moated dining area.

All rooms are air conditioned and bedrooms additionally have ceiling fans.

Other amenities on the property include a swimming pool and hot tub with waterfalls, a giant chess board, terraced outdoor dining, a full-sized outdoor pickleball/basketball court (with tennis and volleyball) and an orchard area with nearly 100 cacao trees.

Coconut palms feature prominently throughout.

The entire property is 3.3 hectares, to which you will have full access and use, with the exception of staff quarters, which are located at one end of the property, out of site from the main house and facilities (excepting the basketball court).

Sunrise House is situated above the city of Loboc, centrally located in the province of Bohol: approximately 40 minutes from the capital city (Tagbilaran), 50-minutes from the nightlife center (Alona beach, Panglao) and one hour from the popular Chocolate Hills.

Getting to Bohol:

Jeju Airlines provides direct service from Seoul, and Bohol is well serviced from Manila.

Alternatively, a two-hour ferry may be taken from Cebu.

Private Helicopter service from Cebu is available for $2,000 - $5,000.

Wherever/however you arrive in Bohol, your reservation includes car service; a driver will pick you up and deliver you to the property.

Amazing Christmas/ best house in Bohol and Philippines

Picture do not do this house and property justice. We are from the San Diego California/ La Jolla/Del Mar area and are familiar with high end houses - the “Sunrise House/ Silangan Bilay” is world class and could be placed in any of the finest cities in the world and fit in. Combine that with the caretaker Laarni and the staff that she maintains to care for guests and you are guaranteed a magical and unforgettable experience. This property sits high above the historic river valley of Loboc and Loay on the island Bohol in the Philippines on a prominent ridge that captures the sunrise every morning in stunning splendor. Visible in the distance on the other side of the valley on a promontory are a Cross that is illuminated at night and a shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe of Extramadura. Both appear to watch over the valley and the house.This house is a one of a kind custom built house in a one of a kind location with a one of a kind caretaker and staff.I cannot recommend Silangan Bilay/ Sunrise House more highly.

Wonderful location, house, grounds and housekeeping team

This is a really outstanding property, house and gardens. It's well looked after by Laarni, beautifully kept throughout, clean and beautifully designed. The architecture of the house is really unusual, which makes it all the more of an experience. We also appreciated Laarni's advice on trips out and her help with co-ordination and arranging drivers. The setting of the house is superb, high on the hill, so you have amazing views looking down and across. Sunrises and sunsets are wonderful and the floor to ceiling windows offer incredible views. Finally, our flight was delayed countless times and Laarni was so helpful, arranging pick up from the airport at 3am. I would absolutely recommend you stay in this gem of property.

A unique property in an amazing location!!

The villa is one of a kind for sure! Located on huge grounds on the top of a large hill which overlooks the surrounding jungle and winding river to the sea. Simply stunning! Laarni - the property manager - was so helpful and welcoming. She helped arrange food, tours and activities. All of which is necessary due to the remote location of the villa (which in itself was a big attraction for us). The island has so much to do and discover and the villa is centrally located to be strike out and do all the key attractions.

Loved Every Minute!

Don't hesitate to book this amazing home! The jaw-dropping views in every direction are enough to never want to leave. But then add to that all of the other perks and you want to pinch yourself to make sure you're not dreaming. We opted to have breakfast made for us every day as well as two amazing dinners during our stay. The smell of the delicious food was enough to motivate even three teenagers to come to the table early each morning. Each days' activities were perfectly orchestrated by Laarni - she took care of every detail and knew how to make everything special and set up everyone to help us each step of the way. You seriously can not get this type of service in any upscale hotel or any other type of place to stay. Our highlights included (but certainly not limited to) giving out candy to the children at the school, walking to the village down the hill and crossing the river to have dinner at the Loboc River Resort (while talking to the people and even cheering on a team during a competitive basketball game), drinking coconut water from coconuts retrieved on the property, relaxing in the pool, watching storms roll through at night and of course, watching the sunrise. We did all of the other amazing touristy activities as well - I can't believe how Laarni was able to help us fit everything in. So many fun family memories were made in this home. We will miss it so much and we are so grateful for our time spent there!

Awesome location for quiet time

This place was amazing. Would stay here again in heartbeat. The house was pristine and gorgeous with a glass wall looking out to the ocean. A few of the lights could use updating/replacing along with the AC units as they we finicky and a little loud. Nothing that detracted from the stay though. Just a note that the property is quite isolated so you will need a driver or motorcycle to get around for sure. But if you want quiet and seclusion this place can't be beat.

Tropical paradise with great service.

Had a four-night stay with five adults. Was greeted by the on-site host Laarni, with a fresh coconut drink poolside, and she explained all the features of the home and area. As explained by the previous guest reviews, the house is beautiful, very clean, and well worth the daily price. The home is beautifully appointed with Asian antiques, an entertainment room with a smart TV, comfortable beds, hot water, good air conditioning, and strong WIFI. There is an on-site cleaning maid and a gardener who also does pool cleaning in the morning. Some have complained these services impact your privacy, but we didn't find that to be the case. We utilized the on-site cook, and all meals were very good, and we didn't have to do dishes. The garden wraps around the house and has a huge selection of tropical plants. The pool was clean and the water temperature was warm. House is on top of the hill, and has a beautiful view of the river, ocean, and area. Home is about an hour from the airport, but Laarni was always available to make transportation arrangements for you at a reasonable cost (P1,800 for 7 passenger airport van). The billing at the end for the cook and food was accurate, with all receipts provided. There are two routes to access the home, with the one from the north in very good condition and the one to the south not so much, but was fun seeing how the locals lived. Needless to say, we wish the home was closer to the USA.

Best in Bohol, must stay.

Upon arrival, we had coconut drinks on the patio, that set the tone for a wonderful stay at the Sunrise house. Laarni was attentive, arranged our driver and activities. We loved our time when Laarni would come over to discuss the next days activities. The staff Marilou, Jocelyn and Adrian were professional and helped to cook and maintain property. When you stay here you’re apart of Laarni’s family. The pictures of the views and home are unbelievably gorgeous, tropical and lush, I couldn’t get enough of it. The glass walls made the views just as gorgeous, inside as out. Many places for our family to gather and chat. I feel honored to stay here. The island is recovering from a typhoon and earthquake, bringing tourism to the island helps the people. Looking at previous reviews, we had hot showers and WiFi was best in the bedrooms, the staff were always around during the day and needed to maintain the integrity of the home.

Incredible villa

This villa is one-of-a-kind. The interior is impeccably presented and it's like living in a work of art. The exterior is equally incredible with amazing views of gardens, rivers, and the ocean. It was also very quiet at night. The caretaker Larni was also amazing and was always a call/text away to help us plan trips/dinner. She lives on-site in the caretakers house. The only two suggestions I have relate to privacy... for example: 1. There were a couple instances staff randomly entered the home without knocking. Considering privacy is listed as one of the benefits, I'd prefer if staff knocked first. On our last day, cleaning staff even entered the home a couple hours before our checkout. It was a bit unnerving to wake up to noises coming from across the hallway and discovering someone was in the kitchen. 2. There's an outdoor bathroom located next to the pool. There was some sort of meeting going on at the caretakers home and the guests seemed to be using the pool bathroom. We were outside at one point enjoying the pool when a lady randomly walked in, didn't say anything to us, and entered the bathroom. As a result, I would encourage the staff to use more discretion when entering the property and/or it's grounds when guests are present though. Despite the minor privacy concerns, the house was incredible and I wouldn't let this deter you from renting it. The pictures don't even do the house justice. It will leave you breathless.

Property is Not as advertised

The property advertised hot shower water and WiFi. Before I booked this listing, I asked owner about these items and he said yes. But cold showers every day and no WiFi until we had to pay for managers extra fees. Then she turned it off right away. Extra fee was for food cooked while there. On the our food bill, she ordered a ‘One Step’ pregnancy test and made me pay for it, plus extra food for her family to eat. Not happy!!

Our group of 8 people, want to say a big thank you for a wonderful time at your house. The house was adorable, with special design and equipped with everything needed. It is located in a very beautiful place, where everywhere around opens beautiful landscapes and is silent and piece. The personnel was outstanding, all the time we felt 100% cared for. Beautiful hideout gem in mountain

Our family loved our stay in Sunrise House. The property is better than the pictures. The house is comfortable and impeccable. The property manager Laarni is extremely caring and took care of our every need. The house is located far from everything, it's a great place to relax and unwind from the crowds. If you want to travel to the beach or to any of the other beautiful sights in Bohol, the property manager can arrange a car. The location is beautiful, overlooking the river and ocean . it is definitely far from any major town and the surroundings are pure nature. We were extremely thankful to the owners for allowing us to extend our stay and we loved every day.

Great experience and location!

We enjoyed our stay at this place. The view was awesome, the house superb and clean, the location very tranquil. We had a fabulous time taking walks to a nearby neighborhood, viewing the sunrise each morning, lounging in the pool and just relaxing! It's an hour away from Alona Beach and other beach areas but close by to Lila Beach for whale shark watching/swimming. Laarni, the property manager, was very helpful throughout our stay, making sure we were comfortable and arranged for in-home massage, mani/pedi service, and local tours. Our cook, Cora, was great and we all loved the food she made for us! This experience was great and we can't wait to go back!

Perfect paradise

There is no other word or description that would describe this place better than an idyllic paradise hosted by the most incredible host on the planet. Laarni has made our stay unique and there isn't one little detail I could pick on about the house or our stay. I could write forever but there is no point, havr no hesitation hesitation, best villa, best host in the world.

Amazing stay

It’s been perfect 6 days 🤗 Laarni is a great host, she’s 100% available. She’s very hepfull, knows the island so she can organize a lot of activities for you. But don’t be scared to be far from the ocean, the view itself is worth. You can have a driver for each day, it’s very cheap. Don’t hesitate to use the service of Marietta who is a good cooker ! Thanks to her, it’s very relax and her food is good.

Abschalten auf hohem Niveau

Nach einer langen Rundreise auf den Philippinen, hatten wir zum entspannen und erholen uns etwas besonderes gesucht. Unsere Erwartungen waren hoch und wir wurden nicht enttäuschen. Die Unterkunft liegt etwas abseits vom Trubel und ist etwas ganz besonderes. Das Personal vor Ort erfüllt jeden Wunsch sofern er realistisch ist. Sollten wir Bohol noch einmal besuchen werden wird definitiv diese Unterkunft noch einmal wählen.

Vacation Home

The sunrise house was an amazing experience! The caretakers Adrienne and Larna were such great people! They always made sure we had everything we needed and more!! Our cook Marieta made the most delicious food everyday. And she was also very helpful with everything else. We really enjoyed our experience. The place and the people there have gone above and beyond for us making sure my family and I had the most wonderful vacation. And we definitely did! We can’t wait to come back. Thank you!

Spectacular stay at the sunrise house

Everything about this place and the staff was amazing. The only downside was the crazy road you have to drive on to get up to it, but once you were there, it was like paradise. Very clean and well-maintained. Remember, you are in the middle of the jungle, so you’re going to find a few spiders and critters around, but not a big deal. Totally worth paying the extra daily fee to have your own personal chef. She did an amazing job and the food was wonderful. We had them arrange a driver for us each day which made things much easier. The one thing I found a little unusual was the fact that the staff, most of which live there on the property but in the outside garage, walk around the yard and into the house kind of at their own pleasure. It felt like we didn’t have 100% privacy. It wasn’t a big deal, but just something to be aware of. Communication was great. They were very accommodating when we were delayed because of bad weather and had to push our trip back a day. No problems at all. We would definitely stay there again!

Perfect Jungle Paradise!

I and my wife had a wonderful holidays at the Sunrise house. We enjyoyed the panoramic river and sea view from the villa and swimming in the everyday cleaned up pool and we appreciated the great help by Laarni Hilot site manager arranging everything like a snorkeling tour to Pamilacan island, the Countryside tour including the Chocolate hills, Tasha monkey park, butterflies park, the hunging bridge. Also we have many many thanks to Maria Corazon housekeeper completely cleaned up the room and cooked the excellent dinner and to very kind drivers of Presco, Sonny and Larry. Stunning view

The sunrise house was perfect for our family of 10. Ms Laarni was very accommodating to all our needs. The cook Ms Marietta provided us with delicious Filipino cuisine. They have spoiled us during our stay. I would definitely recommend this place. We didn’t want to leave. Thank you to the wonderful staff for the great experience!!!

What a gem

We had an amazing time at Sunrise House and so glad we took the chance to stay here. Yes, it is on top of a mountain and seemingly in the middle of nowhere. But if you are for some reason in need of a large house in Bohol, this is the one. We were 7 adults 4 children and stayed 3 nights. The house is very memorable but I'd say what made our stay is the amazing staff that helped with literally every aspect of our stay. Thank you, Laarni!! What a treat to have home cooked meals every day while on vacation. Flexibility with the booking itself was also great. Keep in mind you will still encounter elements in the middle of a jungle - there are bugs, lizards, humidity, sensitive plumbing, unpaved roads, etc. While they are more than relaxed to have kids around, note the house itself is filled with marble floors and glass walls. We will be talking about our experience at Sunrise House for a long time. It was definitely the highlight of our travels.

Schöne und ruhige Villa nahe dem Loboc River

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit im Sunrise House. Das Haus ist ziemlich abgelegen, ca. 40-45min. mit dem Motorrad entfernt von Tagbilaran. Dafür ist es sehr ruhig und verfügt über eine geniale Aussicht! Es solle auf normale Roller verzichtet werden, da der Weg zum Haus sehr steinig ist und die Pneu damit Probleme haben. Mit einem Auto oder einem Motocross Big Bike ist es jedoch kein Problem! Die Onsite-Managerin Laarni war extrem hilfsbereit und freundlich. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an dieser Stelle! Sie hat uns vollumfänglich in allen Belangen unterstützt. Das ist nicht selbstverständlich und wir wissen das ausserordentlich zu schätzen. Das Haus verfügt über 3 Schlafzimmer. Der Zustand ist gut - jedoch ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. Leider funktionierte die Spülmaschine nicht. Der Pool wurde täglich gereinigt und war einwandfrei. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft und die tolle Zeit! Beste Grüsse

Denny and Ellen searched for over a year to find the perfect location with sweeping views of the hills overlooking Loboc River and the Bohol Sea. We have numerous coconut, mango, cocoa, papaya, avocado trees, and banana plants. We enjoy cool nights, gentle breezes and escape from the noise and hustle of the city, and the Sunrise House is the perfect place to do just that!

Out of all my travels, I have never been to a place where the people there will bend over backward just to make you feel at home, even if you have never met them before. It is such a hospitable land and I have never even had so much as a sour look from anyone in 20 years. Perfect for vacation and family time.

Private setting, onsite security, onsite hostess, swimming pool, basketball/tennis court, facilities to accommodate corporate retreats and training, as well as 24-hour accommodation by our on-site manager who lives in her own home on the property.
