30th Wedding Anniversary

Loved this place.Very comfortable for two couples. The grounds were beautiful and easily accessible to most attractions. I could have stayed forever! We were there in March 2025. The pools were very busy with lots of kids.I wished the management co would have designated an adults only area as well as not decide to change the garbage at 5:30am.Regardless,we had a great time.

Young family of 6 first time in Maui.

We had a great time at this property. There was great space with the indoor/outdoor living space. Quiet stay without loud pumping music. The pools are great for kids. They were entertained all day with little effort. Snorkeling just beyond the pool at the beach. Reef and fish were easily spotted. Even sea turtles. Plenty of room to spread out and play catch on large areas of grass. It was a perfect vacation!

The owners were very responsive to fix the AC and the Dryer that were both not working. I have stayed at this resort many times and this was my least favorite unit. It really needs a good update with repairs and cleaning all throughout. There are many areas that need a deep clean or repairs made. Someone should walk the whole unit and make a list of everything that needs to be cleaned or fixed. I understand that owners may not see the inside of their units very often but its important to have some inspect them well. I love the resort just did not like this unit.

Beautiful property

We’ve stayed in corner units at the Honua Kai in the past and love how roomy they are. This was noisier than the others as it was over the loading dock. My advise is to only do tiny loads in the dryer because larger ones won’t dry. The people were warm and friendly, service is excellent and so are the pools.

Beautiful property and ideal location

This property was exactly as promised. It is a beautiful location and the amenities were amazing. Communicating with the owner was easy and fast. They provided beach chairs, which was a huge bonus. The beach on this property was ideal for snorkeling amd we even saw a few turtles. It was myself, my husband and my 3 young adult sons. We also used the gym for workouts and walked the beach. We would definitely go back!!

Great place to vacation!

The property was wonderful as listed on VRBO. Unit was very clean and enjoyed our stay. My only feedback would be that the appliances (stove & refrigerator) need to be repaired/updated. Stove top does not work well and refrigerator ice maker/water dispenser did not work. Also, cooking supplies were very old. Pans, and utensils. I would definitely stay here again, Farzie was very good at responding to any questions. Great location and property to vacation at.

Cut short

Unfortunately, due to the Lahaina fires, we were told to leave after having been there for only 3 days, with 1 of those completely without power or cell service. We completely understand that it was not the fault of the property manager, however, there was little communication even after we were left and was able to get service. The pools were beautiful and views were amazing. The condo itself was nicely decorated with plenty of seating.

The bell desk personnel were very helpful and cheerful. The coffee shop was good with good service and fair prices. The Pool area has quite a bit of deferred maintenance. Hot tub jets did not work the entire week. pool slide was out of order. Pool waiters (from Duke"s) never asked to close out tabs. The service elevators were extremely noisy and we were 4 rooms away.

Great resort, very nice accomodations

First off, Farzie is amazing; very responsive and helpful. Beautiful property, the pools are amazing, the water slide is fun and proximity to the beach can't be beat. We had a great time. Words of warning: Don't touch the bug screen for the sliding doors to the Lanai. We used them once and they broke in our hands as we deployed them. VERY fragile, not worth the effort. Also, the A/C works, but every time you open a door or window it shuts off to save electricity. You have to manually restart it in the bedrooms in order to cool the place down.

Great resort. Not so great room

We were very excited to stay here. We’ve heard a lot of good things but you may want to reserve directly with honua Kai. I would not recommend room 220. The host was very rude. The air conditioning barely worked. It was pretty hot most of the days and nights. warm for the ac setting to show 65, but felt about 78. Luckily there were fans in each room that helped, the ac will turn off every time you open the lanai door. So we kept it shut as well as the curtains to help keep it cool. The dryer does not dry. We had small loads and took 4-6 times to reset the dryer. It would shut off every 3-5 minutes. Bare minimum kitchen supplies…great location, close to drives for snorkeling and swimming. Pools are great but only about 3-4’, no deep pools and fake lazy river…kids still enjoyed it. All in all it was fun. But next time I will research the rooms more. After the fact we checked customer reviews and most have been dissatisfied with 220. Broken hood vent and fridge. Ice barely worked. Older model of house: . Cockroaches. They did spray while we were there we had to leave from 9am for several hours for them to spray for bugs.

Great condo with large balcony - we will definitely stay again!

My wife, our 2 year old and a my brother/sister in law stayed in this condo and had a fabulous time. The layout of the condo is great for families as the bedrooms/bathrooms are separated and there is a large open area in between with the kitchen/dining/living spaces. Since this is a corner condo, it has a larger balcony but this was was HUGE. The pictures on the site were very accurate and I think we saw more rainbows by the mountains than I can ever recall seeing before. We spent time at the pool grounds, the beach and exploring the island and had everything we needed in the condo to do those things easily - beach chairs, boogie boards, towels, travel guide, etc. There was even a pack-n-play for our son. The owners really thought of everything. There is some construction going on next door which the owner, Farzie, was kind enough to inform us of several months ago. There was minimal (if any) increased noise during our stay and in fact, our son was so fascinated by the cranes that we had a hard time peeling him away from the balcony to go to the pool/etc. We are already planning our next vacation for the winter and hope to stay here again. Maholo!

Wonderful Kaanapali 2 BR

This was a really nice two BR unit in Honua Kai. This place is huge. The pictures really don't show how large the place is. Plenty of room to spread out, massive lanai. This is a mountain view and you can't really see the ocean from the unit, but that didn't really affect our opinion of the space. The place had a nice assortment of kitchen items - pots, pans, dishes, cooking utensils, etc. Also came with a very nice assortment of outdoor equipment (chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, etc). Working with the owner was easy and the manager was quick to respond to questions. The only time we needed help was to get corrected wifi information and the owner was quick to let us know that the info had changed. Only a few slight complaints. There were a few places where the heavy use was showing. The master bath's shower door had a broken seal at the bottom, which didn't really affect us. We only watched tv for maybe 15 minutes during our week stay to watch the end of a march madness game, but the tv reception glitched out every couple of minutes. I'd stay here again and would recommend this as a place to stay. Mahalo!

Not Good For Families w/ Young Kids.

This was our 3rd time staying at this resort. We love the resort amenities & you can't beat the location. The best beach in our opinion is just a 10-15 min walk from the resort. We would NOT stay in this condo again. First off, the huge patio is great but it's actually a SHARED patio with several units. It actually appears it's shared with all the other units on the entire floor. The only thing separating the patios is a large planter that even an adult could walk by. So for families with young children this place is a nightmare especially if you have a runner! This place is not maintained & so many things are falling apart. The ice maker doesn't work because the cover was not installed properly. It ended up falling off completely and you could see inside it had been repaired before and held together with zip ties. Drawers on furniture fell off, shelving in the freezer fell off, NONE of the doors locked properly inside the condo so that was fun with us having 2 toddlers opening the bathroom doors while we are in there and no lock on mom and dad's bedroom door for some private time. The toilet handle broke so at the end of the trip we only had 1 toilet. We made the owner aware of all of these situations and she showed no empathy whatsoever or tried to make up for anything. The garbage disposal didn't work and her response was she would have a tech come the following week & no other units have one. Owner was snippy & there's a novel at the place with all the rules. Never again.

Not as expected

We were excited about the large lanai, but realized after our first morning on the lanai that when sitting down, you are looking at the cement wall. Most of the other units have glass walls. The lanai has its benefits in that you can always find sun and shade and can be protected from the wind and very private, but since we traditionally spend our mornings and evenings on the lanai when in Hawaii, it was a change to not have anything to look at. It's the first time we spent very little time on the lanai. I also noticed that hardly any units in this complex provided cushions for the outdoor furniture, this unit was no exception. There were also cockroaches in this unit. The place was sprayed (part of a regular spraying for the entire complex) a week into our stay and there were still roaches a couple days later. On our check out day I saw the Terminex guy and he said he would go back and spray when we checked out. So maybe that will do the trick. Other than that, the place is nice. Linens were nice, beds comfortable. Plastic cups were available (they look like glass - at first I thought there wasn't a plastic option). Pools were nice, Dukes is excellent. Beach out front is great for boogie boarding for our 9 and 11 year old kids. We would return to Honua Kai, but would pay more and stay in a unit with glass walls on the lanai and higher up to maybe help with the cockroaches.We had friends staying on the 4th floor and they never saw a cockroach.
