River Home en el histórico pueblo de Marina en San Croix

Maison sans Chèvres, nuestra encantadora casa de estilo artesanal, tiene dos pisos, ambos con grandes ventanas con vistas al St. Croix River.

La planta principal cuenta con una cocina encimera de granito con electrodomésticos de acero inoxidable hechas para disfrutar de cocinar y comer, un comedor con capacidad para 8-10 personas; un salón acogedor con una chimenea de gas, ventanas con vistas al río y un sofá cama de matrimonio; un baño de invitados y un dormitorio principal en suite con bañera de hidromasaje y ducha independiente.

El nivel inferior cuenta con un acogedor rincón de TV con un sofá cama tamaño queen, una sala de estar alrededor de una chimenea de gas, un baño único y un dormitorio con una ventana que da al río.

El nivel superior se marcha a un amplio, reciclamiento de la cubierta. El nivel inferior sale a un patio con una sensación de cabina río. Ambas áreas al aire libre con muebles para disfrutar de las vistas y los sonidos del río y para comer. Hay una parrilla de gas en la cubierta.

Como vivimos a sólo 10 minutos en coche, estaremos en la casa para darle la bienvenida a su llegada y estaremos a su disposición por teléfono si necesita preguntas contestadas o asistencia durante su estancia.

Lovely place in every way, including everything you need in the house, beautiful decor, spotlessly clean, incredible views, river access, etc. Our one caveat is that foldout sofas figure too prominently, representing 2 of the 4 beds in the house.

River House Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday stay at the River House. It offers everything you could ask for in a family vacation - well appointed accommodations, beautiful location, and convenient to parks and points of interest. Great base for exploring the area or just staying home and doing nothing in particular. Highly recommended.

Beautifully restored home on the river

The home and site are beautiful, with attention to detail, well stocked kitchen, fine furnishing and gorgeous view/access to St. Croix River. I'd give the stay 5 stars if not for the extremely uncomfortable sofa beds (billed as futons) that comprise 2 of the 4 sleeping options. The listing states 4 bedrooms...my bad for not reading the fine print at bottom of the page that explains the actual configuration of 2 bedrooms plus 2 den areas with fold out beds.

Girlfriends Getaway

Thank you Vincent and Christine for sharing your lovely home. We enjoyed our annual girlfriend get-away this year at Maison Sans Chevres. Your kitchen was a wonderful space to work in as we shared meals together and dined at the large table facing the river! Your vacation home has a lot of charm with beautiful furnishings and art. We wish that the description of your home would have accurately described the number of bedrooms and sizes of all the beds. We were expecting 4 bedrooms and sleeping mattresses, pull-out couch or otherwise as described, however, we discovered only two bedrooms, without closets, hangers or hooks for items and two pull-out couches that took away additional living space from the parlor and family room. Two of the sleeping mattresses were full-sized, not queen, which can make for uncomfortable slumber for mature adults. We also battled many spiders and webs on both levels of the home and found ourselves cleaning them out around the baseboards, and furniture. We feel this is something that should be taken care of by the cleaning service or checked prior to guests arriving.

Slice of Heaven on the St. Croix

We initially booked this property because of its proximity to Stillwater. We were met with a sweet surprise of Marine on St. Croix as a small town with safe streets, friendly people and the most beautiful views. This home has all the amenities needed PLUS beautiful scenes of the river, well loved furniture and all the comforts of home. Spacious and accommodating for a group with plenty of indoor and outdoors spaces for games, cards, reading and relaxing.

Fun Girls’ Weekend

My sister and nieces had a wonderful time at this quaint craftsman on the banks of the St Croix River. Such a lovely house - with a great kitchen and cozy living room with fireplace. And, absolutely amazing views of the river and fall colors. Being able to walk 3 minutes to the heart of Marine was an absolute plus. Such a fun weekend - thanks!

GF getaway

This is a beautiful house and a beautiful location. We loved sitting on the deck watching the river go by, for our morning coffee. A great spot for a quiet getaway.

Girlfriend Getaway

We were celebrating 10 years of an annual girlfriend getaway that all started with camping. We evolved into renting homes and this was one of our favorites. We loved the cute little town of Marine on St. Croix and the house was perfect. With 6 of us there was plenty of room. The big tables inside and out made it easy for us to play games and have some amazing meals. Thank you to our hosts for a really memorable and pleasant stay.

The Perfect Getaway

How idyllic can a place be? After viewing this home online for the months preceding our reservation, it exceeded even our dreamy expectations when we settled in for a week in June. The only issue was that we immediately limited our touristy destinations, as we didn’t want to leave! This cabin not only provided every comfort and more than you might expect in a fully stocked kitchen, it encouraged a restful stay with all the furnishings inviting a good read or conversation. We particularly enjoyed the great long table overlooking the river to share meals and spread out a puzzle. A patio table and comfortable chairs provided that same view from a shady deck, perfect for morning coffee and bird songs. I am reviewing the stay of three women who maintain their long-distance friendship over the years by choosing a destination to spend time together in the summer. Mason sans Chèvres was perfect! This home is truly a year-round option. We left thinking how cozy those fireplaces will be in a few months…….

Great place to stay!

What a wonderful place to stay! A gorgeous home so warm and inviting. Christine was a wonderful host meeting us at the property when we checked in. The stay was so relaxing and we will be back to stay here again. This place is a gem! The town was like stepping back in time. A must place to stay.

Charming home on the river

Our family enjoyed this craftsman style well kept home. Beautiful view of the river. We would have enjoyed using deck area if tree debris had been cleaned. However the immaculate and beautifully decorated interior was fantastic.

Beyond expectations

Pictures don’t do it justice BeautifulCraftsman house beautifully period furnished with much thought in all details. Two cozy fireplaces and a gourmet kitchen. Right on the river. Could not ask for more !!!

We have been farming in the St. Croix Valley for over 40 years. If you know anything about farming, you know that there is no 'getting away from work'. You're there 24/7, with all the joys and worries that brings. We never had a vacation home until we bought this river house in 2012. We purchased it with the intent of allowing us a perfect way to 'get away'. It only takes us 10 minutes to drive there from our farm, allowing us
to get away frequently and easily. You may be curious about the name 'Maison sans Chèvres'. Our farm is a large, commercial Grade A dairy goat farm. The river house is our 'home without goats.' We've stated the name in French to honor the river's name and the French voyageurs who explored it.

In the 50 years we've lived in this area, we've come to love the St. Croix River and the very unique town of Marine on St. Croix. When we were lucky enough to be able to get this architectural gem of a house - not only on the river but also in the village of Marine on St. Croix - we were thrilled. It is the perfect vacation home for us. As we're not able to use it full time, we enjoy sharing it with others.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The Maison sans Chèvres is a peaceful, warm, welcoming house. It has an incredible amount of character. Being right on the river allows for a unique connection to nature and the river towns north and south of us.

Marine on St. Croix is a historic town whose residents take a great deal of pride in their history, their natural surroundings, and the creative energy of people. There are numerous cultural events that occur here throughout the year: concerts in the historic Marine Village Hall, art fairs and exhibitions - from Fourth of July celebrations to a sometimes Christmas Market, taking enjoyment from life is an ongoing theme here.

Being in this warm, small town setting but still so close to busier life in the larger towns nearby and even close to the Twin Cities (St. Paul is only a 35 minute easy drive away), gives visitors an opportunity to experience a range of Minnesota life.

As for the house itself, remodeling, updating and furnishing this house was a labor of love for us. We think the results of our efforts reflect our appreciation for quality and for history.
