Chalet at the base of Schweitzer Mountain
Welcome to Sandpoint Chalet—your cozy, welcoming home base tucked away in the stunning Northern Idaho mountains. Whether you’re seeking thrilling mountain adventures or a peaceful retreat filled with small-town charm, this chalet offers the best of both worlds. Perfectly positioned just a short 15–20 minute drive from the Schweitzer Mountain ski lifts, you’ll find convenient access to some of the Northwest’s finest skiing, snowboarding, and year-round hiking and mountain biking trails.
For families and groups seeking variety, Silverwood Theme Park is only a scenic 30-minute drive, a beloved regional attraction that offers thrilling rides, water slides, and entertainment that will delight guests of all ages.
The chalet itself invites relaxation and fun. After an active day, soak your cares away in the spacious 6-person saltwater hot tub—a favorite spot to savor fresh mountain air under a starry sky. Step inside to a large game room, stocked with classic arcade games, exciting air hockey, ping-pong, fuse ball and other fun options that will keep everyone entertained.
Inside, you’ll find the bathrooms upstairs and downstairs freshly renovated with modern fixtures and updated designs to provide that added sense of comfort and style for your stay. The chalet comfortably sleeps up to 9 guests across flexible configurations, perfect for families, couples, or friends traveling together.
Sandpoint sits beautifully nestled among three mountain ranges and along the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho’s largest lake, well-known for its pristine waters and breathtaking views. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the wealth of activities available: hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Winter brings snowy adventures with Schweitzer Mountain’s annual transformation into a winter sports paradise offering skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and scenic chairlift rides.
For those who love arts and culture, downtown Sandpoint offers a vibrant scene filled with local galleries, live music venues, restaurants, theater, and charming shops and cafes, including a yummy chocolate shop. Don’t miss the historic Panida Theater for film and live performances, the Cedar Street Bridge Public Market for artisan goods and fresh local food, and the Bonner County Historical Museum to learn about the area's rich past.
Throughout the year, Sandpoint hosts numerous festivals and events celebrating food, music, art, and nature, making it a lively destination for visitors seeking authentic Pacific Northwest culture.
Please note there are trains that pass near the chalet with occasional horns during the day and night—an authentic part of Sandpoint’s lively community spirit and a reminder of the area’s historic connection to the railroad.
We take pride in delivering an exceptional experience to our guests. Our goal is to ensure every visitor leaves with cherished memories of their stay, the warmth of the chalet, and the welcoming nature of Sandpoint itself. We’re excited to welcome you to Sandpoint Chalet as we take over from Joey, a dear friend who lovingly cared for this special home.
