Older property with character. A bit quirky. Comfy beds and nice sheets etc. Good parking. Very clean. Modern appliances. Couldn't see how to access the 'beach'. A bit of TLC ..Fly screens, windows, doors could do with repair. Toilet flush flap not closing every time

We enjoyed our stay at the apple orchard cottage. The house was spacious and had lots of character. Natasha was quick to respond to any questions I had. Only comment as others have mentioned was that we did find it hot upstairs while sleeping. Thankfully Natasha has a big standing fan in each room which helped somewhat. The location was fantastic being just a short drive into Lunenburg and other south shore locations including the Lahave ferry to enjoy the shops and bakery there. We also enjoyed watching the deer roam the property at their leisure.

Another great stay on Corkum's Island! We made great use of the little beach this time, exploring around the island with our canoe. The house tolerated the heat pretty well, and we look forward to our next visit.

Corkums Island cottage

The owner should complete more preventative maintenance so guests do not have issues. Better cooling system in the upstairs bedrooms would be beneficial as it can get very hot even with fans.We enjoyed being near the water.

The house was in a great location. However the 6 of us feel that the house should have been cleaner than it was, the air conditioning did not work and there when I wrote the owners to inform them that the air was not working I received no response

Family getaway

Our family stayed at the beach house. It was as listed, beautiful, clean and quiet. Close to town but very peaceful in the evenings. Would 100% stay there again.

Favorite location on the south shore!

This is our second stay here and we loved it again! Corkums Island is so quiet and peaceful, while still being close to everything you'd need in Lunenburg. The cottage has everything you need. Bedrooms are big (and there are really 4, the extra one is small but very usable), it's dog friendly and the heat pump makes a huge difference. It's not an Instagram star or anything, but it feels lived in and cozy in a way that the black-metal Ikea-filled places can't match.

Location was great!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Apple Orchard Cottage in Lunenburg. Location was excellent. House was well equipped and comfortable for our group of 5. Quick drive into Lunenburg. Absolutely loved the breeze that blew through the house on beautiful sunny days!

Quiet beauty

We stayed for 2 nights. It was a nice quiet place with beautiful views and privacy. It was close to Lunenburg so we visited that twice. There was a nice quiet private beach just footsteps from the cottage. My children enjoyed looked for treasures like shells and sea glass. We saw a few deer walking around. The host was very quick to respond to questions and gave good suggestions about places to see and do :). We enjoyed our stay on Corkums island.

Perfectly peaceful spot

This house in Apple Orchard Lane is spacious and well equipped. We saw the sun rise over the water each morning which was just magical and we enjoyed seeing lots of birds and deer in the garden. Lunenburg is a fantastic town to visit, so picturesque and accessible. Everyone we met was pleasant and polite and so very helpful. Great holiday all round. .

Tidy and conveniently located for all areas we visited near by. Beautiful property. The house was older and taken care of. There must have been lots of rain previous to our stay as the home felt very damp. No AC upstairs however fans were provided. We saw deer and the locals were very friendly. View was fantastic and it was close to a beach that we could walk to and enjoy with the kids.

Great private spot on the south shore

We had a great time on apple orchard lane. The location can't be beat, just minutes outside of town but on a very private road, and only a oen minute walk to a public beach. The cottage has some quirks but was great for us - it's rare to find a place that is both pet friendly and has a heat pump, so getting both was a real treat. Three good size bedrooms (and a 4th you can use in a pinch) and two bathrooms makes it great for a family, and the deck gets afternoon shade so it's great for family dinner. I should tank this review so none of you take it and we can get our reservation next year, but that doesn't seem fair to the owners.

Could have been a lot cleaner

To say I was disappointed would wrap it up. We have stayed in many rentals. My expectations were, an old, worn farm house that was clean with cooling throughout. Not the case in this house. The Lockbox is about 16 to 20 inches off the ground, on a post under a platform. It was awkward and difficult to open. There are no hand railings on the steps to the back door or the deck. Steps were weirdly constructed; the treads were narrow and the risers high. Half of the back deck had no railings and more odd stairs. We opened the house door and a warm, musty smell was obnoxious. We aired it out for hours. Later we started the heat pump which cools only the lower floor. A musty smell lingered for days. The bedrooms were hot. Beds are low and not all of them were comfortable. The linens & towels were clean. There was litter and dirt in some corners & closets. There were A LOT of earwigs in the lower kitchen cabinets, drawers and floor, toaster or dead in bowls and cups. The fridge and counter tops were clean. Many of the dishes glasses, pots, bowls and silverware had food stuck to them. We washed all items before we used them. I didn't expect spider webs with healthy looking spiders earning a good living eating other insects. Instructions on recycling were a little confusing with both typed and handwritten information. We did the best we could based on what we do in our part of the country. Would I stay here again? No.

Before meeting Alex, Carla worked on a number of Super Yachts in Europe where she hosted the famous, wealthy, and business elite. Carla is a lifelong learner, continuously challenging herself to broaden her spectrum of food. To this end, she has expanded her scrumptious repertoire with specialist courses in Vegan food, Indian cuisine, and Kosher considerations. She thrills her guest's pallets with sophisticated nutritious foods with a unique twist creating a fusion of geography or a juxtaposition of traditional and modern. I first came to Lunenburg in 1984 I was just 17 years old and fell in love with the place. I said then that one day I wanted to buy a house here and in 1999 that dream came true.
