Off The Grid Cabin con Elk Herd (y burros y caballos)

Esta cabaña renovada estaba en patines, y hemos agregado una hermosa terraza acristalada / sala de estar con un patio de salida para completar el diseño. Tiene energía solar, con un generador de respaldo ... y tiene un sofá cama, así como gemelos en cada habitación, por lo que la capacidad para dormir es de 6. Tenemos una maravillosa parrilla Weber, así como un pozo de fuego en el patio, cenas al aire libre y un agradable porche cubierto, para sombra en las calurosas tardes ... también tiene un cenador, en la parte superior del corral de alces aquí en el Rancho. ¡Un buen lugar para una siesta, o practica tu yoga matutino o vespertino!

We had a wonderful three day getaway! It was so nice to get away from the crazy city life and just relax in the beautiful mountains. This was the perfect place to do just that. The dogs probably enjoyed it even more than we did. The cabin was clean and ready for our stay. The hosts were amazing and had great communication. We will definitely be back!

Cabin was just what we wanted - quiet from our normal crazy lives. Cabin was close enough to Glenwood Springs for the hot springs. Our cellphones also worked at the cabin so we weren’t completely isolated if we needed to reach out.

We had an amazing time. The views from the cabin were spectacular. The fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs. We loved sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows under the starry sky. Both Mary (owner) Maureen (the cabin manager) and family were very helpful with recommendations for food and fun. It was such a wonderful getaway from city life.

It was exactly what I was looking for. A place secluded away from my normal hectic city life. Mary the host was great! She recommending activities to do around the area. I would definitely recommend the hot springs pool, and rafting. The weather was so nice we spent several days just relaxing at the cabin. If your a outdoor type person bring binoculars, and a spotting scope. Every evening, and morning there are mule deer, and elk around somewhere to find. Our last morning there I woke up to about 200 elk straight down the hill so I grabbed my bugle tube, and had some fun for over a hour. The whole herd ended up taking the ridge right behind the cabin. My wife even came out to enjoy it. That's something most people never get to experience. Coming from the humid heat of Missouri it was great to sleep with the windows open enjoying the mountain breeze, and no humidity. My son already misses Tim (one of the herd dogs on the property) I hope Mary isn't mad he would have dinner with us every night. And what ever you do, do not lay in the hammock after dark. There might have been more than one person fall asleep under the stars.

This cabin was just as described and the location and views were perfect! It was very peaceful and beautiful. It was only a 10 minute drive to the town of new castle in about 30 minutes to Glenwood Springs. It was my husband, me, our 14 year-old daughter and her 14-year-old friend, and our two dogs who came for the Labor Day weekend. The house were so kind and let us check in early so we brought our stuff and got settled and then went to the Glenwood Springs Hot Springs. On the second day, we were all loaded up to go paddle boarding at Harvey gap State Park, but when we got in the car, we had a flat tire. We were missing a tool to be able to get the lug nuts off so I texted Mari, our host. She replied quickly and brought the ranch supervisor to the location with the appropriate tools and a much better car jack so we could change the tire. Because it was a Sunday and the next day it was a holiday. We were concerned about finding a place to get it repaired. Luckily for us, she contacted the local tire guy and arrange for us to go over and have it fixed. She went totally above and beyond to help us out, and it was most appreciated! Because that process took so long, we ended up going hiking instead in a canyon near Glenwood Springs by the no-name Creek. It was a beautiful hike! On the final day, she let us check out late and we were able to go paddle boarding before departing back to the Denver suburbs. We highly recommend this cabin and host and location!

Awesome cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little cabin on a hill. It was as secluded as as can be with beautiful surroundings. The cabin itself was very clean with everything we needed. We didn’t see any elk but the goats came by quite often and were very entertaining. We would definitely stay there again

Mary is wonderful at communicating and making sure everything goes smooth. The place was just the get-a-way we needed for our friend’s wedding. We will return! The views are absolutely amazing and is such a peaceful place to stay. Highly recommend.

We had a great time. The location and property were terrific. We loved seeing the elk up close one morning and loved having a spot to ourselves for the weekend. Mary was great to communicate with.

We had a wonderful private get away in this no thrills cabin. The views of the stars, sunrises and sunsets were worth it on their own. But it gave my family a place to branch off and explore Rifle Gap State Park.Mary is also an incredibly generous host. Thank you for a great stay!

Another magical weekend

This place is amazing. It was our 2nd time staying and it was great! Very secluded, perfect for star-gazing, and overall delightfully peaceful. The cabin is super cozy- feels like home.

Perfect setting

We spent three nights here at the midpoint of our 2-week family trip. It was perfect for us. Spectacular sunset and sunrise. Cute town to visit and Rifle Falls State Park. Great hosts!

Scenic and Peaceful

My dad, my husband and myself stayed at the cabin and we had a truly relaxing time. The area is surrounded by amazing scenery and is so peaceful. The 2-person hammock was great for stargazing at night. The July heat did make it a little difficult to sleep but there were fans in the house and they helped direct air flow.

Guys weekend

Great stay at a beautiful place. Elk in the morning. Fire pit at night. Fun place to stay, that's a little difficult to find and get to.

Amazing views

The property is gorgeous! Fantastic views and the wildlife abundant! Being off the grid took a little getting used to, but not much! Hosts are great! Would definitely recommend!

Terry Porter was born and raised here in New Castle and makes Porter Ranch his home and living. He raises Rocky Mountain Elk here, and is a custom Hay Rancher. Custom hay IS our bread and butter, but we also have goats.. a lot of goats...and raise 2 natural bred imported dogs, lakeland terriers and pepper and salt giant schnauzers. come visit any time.

This cabin is for those special someone's who really want to get away from it all. You are completely secluded, with all the luxuries of home..you must be judicious with the power, and understand that there is a lot of responsibility with being in with the elk. BUT,,,,talk about a unique experience. You will love it... DOGS are free but must be crated or go with you.. or they will eat my curtains and break windows when the elk approach. If its hot, please check with me to house them in my basement. They are NOT allowed up hanging lake.. FYI>

Covered front porch, nice outside clawfoot tub for a sun shower, or a dog bath, private gazebo and complete solitude. Outside grill and fire pit, pull out couch and walk out grade Colorado red stone patio. Really nice and very very private.FREE WIFI NOW. It is slow. FYI.
