Jack and Elsie's Creekside Hideaway in Mazama
Summary:
Jack and Elsie's is the original historic cabin at Wilson Ranch in Mazama. Built in 1948, this one-bedroom cabin sits beside Early Winters Creek, offering tranquility and a touch of local history. It features a king bedroom, a classic stone-built gas fireplace in the living room, and a well-equipped galley kitchen. Just steps from the Methow Trails year-round system, this cabin provides an authentic Mazama experience surrounded by mountain scenery.
The Space:
Jack and Elsie's Creekside Hideaway is a wood-paneled, one-bedroom cabin nestled within the Wilson Ranch property. Originally built by Jack Wilson in 1948, it retains its classic charm with warm natural finishes and a sense of history.
The living room, anchored by a stone-built gas fireplace, offers a relaxed place to unwind after a day on the trails, with views of the surrounding pines. The cozy bedroom features a king-sized bed. The galley kitchen includes an electric stove with oven, under-counter refrigerator, microwave, sink, coffee maker, kitchen utensils, cookware, and a dishwasher
A door off the living area opens onto a small deck overlooking Early Winters Creek, equipped with a propane BBQ grill and a pair of Adirondack chairs. A picnic table sits nearby for outdoor dining beside the water.
The cabin is yards from trails connecting to the extensive Methow Trails system for world-class Nordic skiing, mountain biking, trail running, and hiking. North Cascade Heli Skiing is also based on the Wilson Ranch property, making this cabin a convenient choice for heli-skiers as well as nordic skiers (expect to see and hear helicopters during ski season).
The Neighborhood:
MAZAMA
Wilson Ranch is located 2 miles (10 minute bike ride) from the Mazama Store and the Methow Trails trailhead (for access to hiking, mountain biking, cross-country ski and snow-shoe trails). In addition to the store with its renowned bakery and groceries, Mazama is home to the Goat’s Beard outdoor store (with mountain bike and fat bike rentals), the Mazama Ski School for cross country ski lessons and rentals, and the popular Mazama Public House for local brews, food and music. Please be aware that the Sandy Butte Bistro at the Freestone Inn is not currently operating, and Jack's Hut may or may not be open on a very limited basis.
