Consider this one-bedroom apartment with full kitchen and bath your home away from home while you visit Vermont's gorgeous Mad River Valley. Well equipped for you to just bring your gear and groceries and relax. After a day of skiing, enjoy the view of the private forest from your wall of windows. Or have an apres ski beverage by the Solo stove on your private patio, weather permitting. This rustic spot is your tranquil retreat from the crowds of both city and slopes. High speed Internet and surge protected power strip lets digital nomads rule the world before or after hitting the slopes.
This cozy space features a hybrid memory foam queen bed with plush pad, large pillows, and luxury sheets, perfect for a restful night. The bathroom offers both a shower and a bathtub, making it easy for guests to unwind after a day of exploring. Propane heating with pellet stove backup and electric space heaters are provided for your comfort.
The living room has a sofa and a large bean bag chair so you can stretch out in front of the HD smart TV. The wifi allows you to connect your streaming apps, and it is also connected to a rooftop antenna for broadcast stations. The ottoman has an extra blanket, but the Rinnai space heater should keep you warm, but please lower the heat before you leave for the day. I ask that you lower the insulated blinds at night and when you leave for the day. They work amazingly well to keep you warm.
Since the entrance is at the rear of the house, you can easily imagine yourself in the middle of the woods. I tried to maintain the 70s feel to the place by decorating with old Vermont ski and farm culture items. The apartment is well-equipped with modern updates: microwave, toaster, Keurig, HD smart TV, Sony bluetooth sound bar, high speed fiberoptic internet, and deluxe bedding. Your kitchen has a full sized oven and refrigerator, along with cabinets of dishes, glasses, mugs, cookware, tea kettle, drip coffee pot, and utensils. I try to anticipate every need so let me know if there is something you need.
The property has about three acres of forest and meadow, and I am developing it to be a sustainable permaculture mini farm. We are solar powered and have full house battery backup to get us through outages. I live in the upper portion of the four-storey house, which I continue to renovate and update. My big dog Fluffanutter (Fluffy) may bark when you arrive but she is friendly will be leashed outdoors. You may see my brown tabby cat Felix outdoors if he managed to sneak out--please let me know!
The privacy of this location allows us to enjoy nature in some very special ways. You may see deer strolling by, pausing to forage for a meal beneath the snow. Perhaps a flock of turkeys will walk or fly by. It's quite a sight to see these huge creatures take off in flight! After a snowfall, I love to walk the property to see who the recent visitors were. Some of the tracks are a mystery but that makes it even more fun.
Mad River Valley is a vibrant, tight knit community of outdoorsy and artsy Vermonters. Skiing in the winter, hiking, kayaking, biking, and fishing in the summer. I like to say that I came here for the skiing and the views but I stayed for the people. I love it here and I bet you will too!
