2/10 Horrible

I don’t know why this says San Jacinto. The place we were supposed to stay was in Galveston. We arrived around 6 pm on a very frigid night. The place was extremely small and very outdated, which we could overlook. Our INABILITY TO STAY in the rental was based on 3 factors. 1. My husband is very allergic to cigarette smoke and the bedroom area reeked of it (note: no smoking signs were visible in the unit). 2. There was a freeze warning in effect that night, but the unit has no heating system. There was a space heater which we found after asking the host. It had a short in it and did not put out enough heat to combat the freezing temperature. We considered it a fire hazard that wasn’t worth the risk. The host claimed to have done a walk through shortly before our arrival but neglected to turn on the space heater as a matter of convenience. 3. My husband had shoulder surgery recently and has prostate issues requiring frequent trips in the nighttime. The only restroom was down the spiral staircase which my husband had extreme difficulty traversing. The risk of falling for him was too high. 4. (Not a factor in our decision) there was ample parking for 4 vehicles in the driveway, but a renter in another unit had selfishly blocked the passage leaving other renters to haul luggage from the street to behind the main home where the rentals were. Please note that our host was quick in responding to our communication, but made no extraordinary efforts to address our concerns.
