Acerca de este alojamiento
Hikers, Bikers, Birders, Writers, Artists - Explore the San Diego Backcountry
Casa de Granero is a spacious modern, apartment located on the top floor of the Questa Farms barn. Overlooking pastures and native oak forests, the entry balcony provides an intimate setting for morning coffee, evening cocktails and star gazing. The fully equipped kitchen has service for six, features stunning quartzite countertops and copper accents, ample prep area, farmhouse sink and standard refrigerator. It opens to the light and bright country pine dining area with adjacent work space and picture window framing the nearby hills. The open living room is comfortably furnished with a queen sized convertible sofa, television and two recliners. The main and entry bedrooms feature queen sized beds with quality linens, televisions, wifi and internet. When the convertible chest bed in the large entry room is closed, the space functions as a game/work/exercise area. The spacious bathroom features a rainfall shower, two person tub and reclaimed barnwood vanity. Large windows throughout the unit provide plenty of light and magnificent views of the countryside. Air conditioning and heating are available. Guests have exclusive use of an enclosed patio with barbeque (gas or charcoal), fire pit, lounger, table and chairs for six and an Alaskan cedar soaking tub.
Two parking spaces are designated for guests of Casa de Granero. The stairs to the second story apartment and enclosed private patio are located at the end of the covered walkway leading from the parking area. Livestock and poultry in the barn and paddock areas adjacent to the parking area may be viewed from the fence and patio. The guest area is fully fenced and gated.
The ranch is in a remote, dark sky location with limited cell phone coverage. Free range cattle and wildlife are often on roadways. There are no streetlights and few street signs once you are on the Mesa. Black Canyon Road is a well graded, winding dirt road (1.3 miles to our gate). It is advisable to arrive during daylight hours to facilitate navigation and to allow you to fully appreciate the beauty of the area.
Groceries may be purchased at major supermarkets in Poway, Escondido, Temecula and Ramona. A small grocery store, Don's Market, is located at the intersection of Highways 76 and 79 in Santa Ysabel and stocks meat, alcohol, produce and staples. Local wines are available from wineries along wine trails in the area. Check websites for location and hours.
The closest restaurants are 15 minutes away in Santa Ysabel and at Lake Henshaw. More options are available in Wynola, Julian and Ramona. Check websites for locations and hours.

Preguntas frecuentes
Acerca de su propietario/a
Propietario/a: Richard B Macgurn
I spent my whole life avoiding doing anything I was not good at. There was a lot to avoid. To say I was not handy was an understatement. There was no repair or assembly which I could not screw up. Naturally after 44 years of practicing law I bought a ranch and moved to the country. Now I try to do all the things I do not know how to do. Raise livestock, repair equipment and fences, and enjoy the country life. It is better to laugh than cry.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Mesa Grande has not changed much in the last 100 years. Life here is slow, quiet and beautiful. The people are friendly and helpful, the wildlife is abundant and the vistas and night skies are spectacular.
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
This peaceful space is my paradise.
