Cristine's Cozy Cottage in the Woods; Close to Town & Pet Friendly Fenced Yard!

Go back to a simpler time with a visit to this quaint 1940s country farmhouse, complete with a front porch that overlooks Volcan Mountain and an acre of fenced land filled with whispering pines, fragrant cedars, and majestic oak trees. Perfect for our furry friends! I'll supply the lawn chairs for the ultimate in relaxation if you supply the wine from one of our local wineries. Or, if getting out and about is more your speed, come hike in our crisp mountain air, visit an 1870s gold mine, or feast on a succulent apple pie. This tribute to my own grandmother (with many of her vintage antiques and linens) is located one mile from historic downtown Julian and is at the end of a 1/8th of a mile private gravel road. Recently redesigned, this 750 square foot bungalow is perfect for a romantic get-a-away or for a small family of four who wants to experience going back to a gentler time.

In the main house, there is a queen size bed in the larger bedroom, a full size bed in the guest bedroom, and a comfortable foldout bed in the living room. The cottage has the original oak hardwood floors, a quaint country kitchen, an outside BBQ, and Smart TV with DirectTV as well as Netflix, HULU, YouTube, Paramount Plus, Prime Video, and HBO Max. Plenty of private onsite parking. Julian is less than an hour from San Diego, so what are you waiting for?

We loved the cozy cottage. It was the perfect size for the three of us and in a great location for exploring the surrounding area and enjoying meals and Julian apple pie! The cottage is decorated so cute and wow, so quiet and peaceful! We loved all the different tea and’s coffee products. It was very clean, was in a wonderful neighborhood to walk and checked off all the boxes we were looking for in our mountain retreat. The host’s communication was wonderful and friendly and we know it’s not if we come back but when. And a huge bonus was stargazing at night as Julian is a designated international dark sky community!

Third time stay

This is our third time staying here and as usual we had a great time. So quiet in a cute cottage filled with antique decor. It's close to town and dog friendly, and the host is so nice and helpful when we book. Highly recommend!

Peaceful Getaway

Loved all the apple items in the cottage, and the porch was an amazing place to sit and enjoy the quiet on warm days. It was cozy and comfortable with lots of snack and coffee options. It is a wonderful location for enjoying the town or doing hiking. We hiked every day.

My husband and I and our dogs had a great stay at Christine's Cozy Cottage in the Woods. Cris was so great at communicating with us all along the way from booking to checking out. The cottage is adorable and has everything you could need. The yard is a great for the dogs to run around for a bit. Our favorite part of the cabin had to be the porch. We loved having coffee in the mornings and enjoying the evenings there, it was so beautiful and peaceful. The bed was so comfortable, we slept great! We spent our time exploring Julian and taking long walks. It was an amazing getaway.

Cute little blue house

We enjoyed our weekend at this well appointed and adorably decorated little house. Quiet neighborhood yet close to town and lots of great hiking trails. It was nice to spend a weekend away, yet so close to home. We'll definitely be back.

Peaceful Weekend Getaway

My husband & I had a wonderful stay. My experience of Cris is that she is in communication from start to finish, thinks of every detail, and she makes you feel at home. The house is cozy and has everything needed. I loved that it was away from the town and the property was full of well thought out touches. We will definitely stay again!

Thank you Honey! As a child in the 1950s, when things got hectic at home, my Mom would wake me up and say,"Get up, we're going to Grandma's!" And, after an hour drive to LA, my grandma would be at the front door waiting for me with chocolate chip cookies...I have tried to recreate this experience with this mid-century farmhouse, complete with my Grandma's treasured heirlooms...and a return to a gentler time.

Enjoyed Julian

Charming place. Had all we needed. Comfortable for my wife and I and our pet bulldog. The owners had it all decked out with Valentine treats and chocolates. Very nice. Looking forward to returning, staying here, and hiking up Volcan Mountain next year.

Cozy cottage in Julian

We stayed at Cristine's cottage for a weekend and really enjoyed it. It has all the amenities you would expect and some more. Lots of attention to detail throughout. We particularly enjoyed the quietness of the area and the evenings at the front porche. We will be back in the future.

Julian has always had a special place in my heart...my first memories are of my mother waking me up in Orange County at 4am and piling me into our Volkswagen bug for the 2 hour drive up to Julian to catch the birds singing at sun up! She was an avid bird watcher, and we came to Julian at least once a month during the spring and summer months. When she passed, I started making trips by myself to Julian in memory of her and bought my first vacation rental in 2011. This cozy cottage is my second of three vacation rentals, and it's my favorite, and as mentioned, it is a tribute to my Mom and her mother with many of their antiques and furnishings.

The cottage is in the Whispering Pines neighborhood, which is a 5 minute drive from downtown Julian....just close enough to enjoy the town and its festivities, but far enough for the quiet and peacefulness of country living!

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The cottage is on an acre of wooded land with oaks, pines and cedar trees with room to explore while basking in the majesty of a view of Volcan Mountain. In addition, there is a medicine wheel on the property with Mason jars for guests to gather nature's jewels, such as our red rocks or fall leaves, and set their intentions or prayers for the coming year.

If more room is needed for additional family members, there is a second house on the property that can be rented separately through this online site. Please contact the owner for additional information!
