A bit about Bellingham;
Bellingham is an outdoor mecca whether you're spending a day on the slopes at Mt Baker or out on Bellingham Bay for an evening sail - or maybe you're simply 'getting muddy' on 'Galby' (Galbraith Mountain) a premier, 3,000- acre, private mountain biking area with over 65 miles of trails. Hiking trails, lakes and the ocean, teaming with life is just down the road and one block away. We truly have it all.
Bellingham sits in a spot where being outside is often where you want to be, but it’s not the only thing going on. The city is small enough to feel familiar and social, yet busy enough that there’s usually something happening. On a normal day, people might bike or walk downtown, grab coffee in Fairhaven, hit one of the many trails up in the mountains and parks, or meet friends at a brewery or food truck pod like 'Goods' or 'Elizabeth Station' - both easy walking distance from The Green Haus. Western Washington University gives the town a steady flow of younger energy, live music, and low-key nightlife without it feeling overwhelming.
Outdoors, the options are broad rather than extreme. Galbraith Mountain is a major draw for mountain biking and trail running, while nearby lakes like Whatcom and Padden are popular for swimming, paddleboarding, and evening hangs. The water is always close, whether that means kayaking in Bellingham Bay or just sitting near the shoreline with friends at Teddy Bear Cove in Larrabee Park. You don’t have to plan a full expedition to get outside—most people fit it in before or after work, or casually on weekends.
Beyond Bellingham, northwest Washington opens up quickly. The North Cascades offer challenging hikes and quiet backcountry, Mount Baker provides reliable winter skiing and snowboarding, and the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound are an easy ferry ride away for camping or slower weekends. Because everything is relatively close, it’s common to decide plans based on weather and mood rather than logistics. A rainy day might mean a forest walk and a movie; a clear one might mean chasing views.
Entertainment here tends to be simple and social. There are small venues for live music, trivia nights, comedy shows, farmers markets, and seasonal festivals that bring people together without feeling crowded or commercial. The Puget Sound shapes the rhythm of life—ferries, tides, and sunsets are just part of the background. For young adults, Bellingham isn’t about nonstop excitement; it’s about having plenty to do, both inside and out, and a community that values balance and shared time more than hype.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento
One day, many years ago, I crossed the border from Canada to do what most of us did back then — a little shopping at Bellis Fair Mall. On a whim, I followed a sign that read “Downtown Bellingham” and thought, Why not? Let’s go explore!!
So, I found myself meandering through charming streets of Bellingham until I turned onto Eldridge Ave — unknowingly passing what would one day become my home. As I was driving through 'the hood' I noticed an elderly gentleman standing in his yard beside a wheelbarrow and pulled over, pointing toward the water, to ask, “What lake is that?” He chuckled warmly and replied, “Why, that’s the ocean, young lady.” It was my first glimpse of the Salish Sea Bellingham Bay and the archipelago of San Juan Islands.
I remember thinking how lucky someone must be to live in one of these beautiful old homes, in this storybook neighborhood, in this special seaside town. Fast forward 25 years… and, well, the rest is history.
Now it brings me so much joy to share my charming abode, The Green Haus, with you and your loved ones. Please make yourself at home, settle in, and soak up the beauty all around you. I hope you love your time here as much as I do.
Be well — embrace your beautiful life.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
The homes in the Columbia Neighborhood near downtown Bellingham are uniquely delicious — and there’s not a cookie-cutter in sight! Each one tells its own story, and The Green Haus is no exception.
Built in 1945, this home proudly preserves much of its original character. The kitchen still features its charming, original cabinetry — complete with built-in flour and sugar drawers — a sweet nod to simpler times. (Don’t worry, the rest of the kitchen has been thoughtfully updated to meet modern cooking needs including brand-new stainless appliances and gas stove.)
Inside, you’ll find graceful coved ceilings in the living and dining rooms and the original 1940s “pickled” wood trim throughout. These details bring warmth, texture, and timeless visual interest to the space — the kind of craftsmanship you simply don’t find in newer homes.
The result is a home that feels both nostalgic and fresh: rich with history, lovingly maintained, and ready to welcome you in.
