Captain's Suite: Upscale, air-conditioned accommodations
A newly renovated 60 m² air-conditioned unit, including a private parking space.
Fully equipped to a very high standard with attention to detail, located in the heart of Papenburg on the canal.
The Accommodation:
The living area features white-stained wood walls and genuine oak plank flooring with underfloor heating.
This creates a special indoor climate; there are also two air conditioning units—one in the ground-floor living room and one in the upstairs bedroom.
A large sofa with a pull-out bed, a fold-out multifunctional table, a TV, a Bose Bluetooth speaker, and other furniture are included.
Our guesthouse, the Kätp’n Suite, is completely self-contained; as the hosts, we are always available by phone or email.
If needed, we can provide (rental) bicycles, including e-bikes. This requires an additional reservation.
Overview of the neighborhood
The neighbors are, just as you’d hope, very laid-back and relaxed, so you hardly notice them.
Regardless of the surroundings, the apartment offers the following advantages:
In the Käpt’n Suite, you can retreat from the stress of everyday life.
Thanks to the building’s enhanced soundproofing and the ability to completely block out the light, you’ll find a very peaceful place there.
Other things to note:
Here, you’ll have plenty of space to yourself in the air-conditioned apartment.
There are many ways to explore Papenburg, whether it’s the theater, museums, a shipyard tour, the Zeitspeicher, or much more.
Several flyers and brochures are available in the house to help you plan your explorations.
There’s also plenty to explore and experience outside of Papenburg, such as:
Bourtange Fortress in the Netherlands: Here you’ll find a star-shaped fortress in the medieval style and charming shops—perfect for a full-day excursion. –
Clemenswerth Castle in Sögel: This is the only surviving “Alleestern” (star-shaped avenue) complex in the world. On site, you can visit the hunting lodge—which features information stands about the history of the former princes—and the adjacent garden and forest, which are perfect for a stroll.
"Dat Otto Huus" in Emden: A must-see for fans of the famous comedian Otto Waalkes.
The "fishing village" of Ditzum: Highly recommended for nature and harbor lovers. Here, you can experience traditional harbor culture or enjoy the surrounding nature on foot or by bike.
Lake Heeder in Heede: This lake offers plenty of fun on the water with a water ski facility and a large swimming area featuring a white sandy beach.
From there, you can also quickly visit the 1,000-year-old linden tree.
Fontana Thermal Baths in Bad Nieuweschans, Netherlands: To complement the relaxing atmosphere of the Käpt’n Suite, a visit to this sauna and thermal bath complex is highly recommended.
The East Frisian Islands: These are perfect as day trip destinations for exploring the islands.
Directions:
It’s about 3 km from the train station; you can also walk through the pedestrian zone, passing by the museum ships.
Otherwise, the Käpt’n Suite is easily accessible by car.
