Guest Access:
Guests have full private access to the entire cabin — every bedroom, both living areas, the game loft, all three decks, the hot tub, and the driveway. Self check-in is via keypad, so there's no key pickup and no coordinating arrival times. Depending on the season, guests may also use Chalet Village's community pools and clubhouses, with hours set by the community rather than by us.
The Neighborhood:
Little Cub sits in Chalet Village, a quiet, wooded ridge-top community less than 2 miles from the Gatlinburg Parkway — close enough to be spontaneous, far enough to hear the crickets at night.
From the cabin (drive times approximate):
- Downtown Gatlinburg Parkway (shops, restaurants, arcades) — 7-10 minutes
- Ober Gatlinburg (skiing, tubing, alpine slide, mountain coaster) — 10-15 minutes
- Great Smoky Mountains National Park / Sugarlands entrance — 15-20 minutes
- Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies — 15 minutes
- Anakeesta treetop adventure park (next to Ripley's) — 15 minutes
- Gatlinburg SkyLift Park & SkyBridge — 15 minutes
- Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail (waterfalls, wildlife) — 15-20 minutes
- The Island in Pigeon Forge — 25-30 minutes
- Dollywood — about 30 minutes
- Cades Cove scenic loop — 60-70 minutes
You get a peaceful, tucked-away cabin feel without giving up quick access to everything the Smokies are known for.
Getting Around:
Little Cub Retreat is located in Chalet Village near Gatlinburg, where having a car is highly recommended. The cabin sits in a mountain setting with winding roads and some steep areas, but the drive is well worth it for the views and privacy.
You’re just a short drive to downtown Gatlinburg, where parking is available at public garages and lots. From there, you can explore shops, restaurants, and attractions or hop on the local trolley system for easy access around town.
Nearby destinations:
Downtown Gatlinburg: ~10–15 minutes
Ober Mountain: ~5–10 minutes
Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance: ~15 minutes
In winter months or during inclement weather, a vehicle with 4WD or AWD is recommended for added safety on mountain roads.
Other Things to Note:
Free parking is available directly on the driveway in front of the cabin, with room for multiple vehicles — no permits or street parking to think about. The driveway has some incline typical of ridge-top cabins in this area, so a vehicle comfortable on hills is recommended, especially after rain, ice, or snow.
Check-in is after 4:00 PM and checkout is before 10:00 AM; self check-in via keypad lets you arrive on your own schedule. Early check-in may be available on request — $100 for 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, or $50 after 1:00 PM — confirmed the night before arrival. Well-behaved pets are welcome; please let us know in advance if you're traveling with one. Please treat the cabin and community with care, and keep noise considerate of neighboring cabins in the evening. Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are installed throughout. A valid ID and signed rental agreement are required for all confirmed bookings. We respond quickly if anything comes up during your stay.
Interaction with Guests:
You'll have the entire cabin by yourselves! There will be no interaction with guests unless a request is made for additional services. But, we are always available via messages & phone.
