The Space:
Set on a quiet mountainside lot in the hip and highly sought-after hamlet of Kerhonkson, this charming boho-chic retreat offers the perfect blend of style, privacy, and easy access to the best of the Catskills and Hudson Valley. Located on a dead-end road and surrounded by trees, the property feels peaceful and secluded, with an open landscape, private pond, and plenty of room to unwind outdoors.
Inside, the home is warm and welcoming, with an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area designed for easy gathering. A cozy wood stove offers a warm central gathering place for cold nights, while sliding doors connect the main living space directly to the deck and hot tub for seamless indoor-outdoor living. The comfortable first guest room features a queen bed, and shares a bathroom with standing shower with the living area. Down the hall, the beautifully renovated primary suite is a true highlight, offering a king size bed, soaring ceilings, a soaking tub, separate shower, water closet, and a private office space for work-from-home stays.
Outside, guests can enjoy two decks, a hot tub, grill, and fire pit, all framed by the natural privacy of the surrounding trees. The spring fed pond is cool and clear, and birds and wildlife might join your outdoor dinner on the open or covered deck. Wild Sage Cabin is an inviting home base for hiking, relaxing, and exploring local favorites in one of the region’s most desirable areas.
The Neighborhood:
The peaceful mountaintop location is perfect for outdoor activities, or exploring local businesses, dining options and attractions. Nature lovers can explore the Sundown Wild Forest's hiking trails, and the sweeping beauty of Minnewaska State Park Preserve, Mohonk Preserve, and Sam's Point State Park.
The area is full of great restaurants as well. Ollie’s Pizza in High Falls or the elegant Inness country club are close by. The Mountain Brauhaus is a traditional german hall with authentic flair. A bit further afield, Kingston is becoming a stand out for dining - book a table at Chleo, Sonder, Mirador, Eliza, or Brunette Wine Bar. New Paltz is a bustling college town with a wide variety of offerings, explore the busy main street for fun shopping and dining options.
Farm fresh dinner fixings are available Accord Market or Saunderskill Farms. Or grab drinks and dinner at the relaxed Westwind Orchard cidery or Arrowood Farms for craft beer and live music. Tetta's Market, just 7 minutes away is a great local option, good for staple groceries, pizzas and sandwiches to bring back to the house, or out for a picnic.
Getting Around:
Wild Sage Cabin is just 2.5 hours from New York City. A car is essential for getting there and exploring the area. The main access routes are the I-87 S, NJ-17, and NY Route 209. We strongly recommend a 4x4 or a car with four-wheel drive, especially in winter, to handle snow and gravel roads.
