Unwind in a peaceful setting
Spend a few days in an unspoiled agricultural region in Burgundy—quiet yet close to many places worth visiting
Good to know:
We use our house primarily for personal use and rent it out for a few weeks each year.
The house has underfloor heating on the first floor and a wood-burning stove. Internet access is available in the house. There is no TV connection. Wi-Fi is available.
The house’s furnishings are tailored to our personal needs.
We expect guests to respect this., If spices or household items (e.g., toilet paper) run out, we ask that you restock them.
In May 2025, we installed a new pool (11m x 3m) in the garden.
It is heated by a heat pump, so we’ll be able to swim in heated water from June through October.
Rentals can be arranged for specific periods, with a minimum stay of 5 days.
Shopping options, etc.:
Bellevesvre
Bakery (Tue–Sun), across from the cheese shop (Tue–Sun); next to the cheese shop is a butcher shop/farm stand that sells chicken and pork from its own farm (Fri–Sun)
La Chapelle Saint Sauveur
Bakery Tue–Sun
Saint Germain du Bois:
Many shops and a bank, Super U, market on Saturday mornings
Pierre de Bresse:
Castle museum, a few shops, bakery also open Monday mornings. Market on Monday mornings, 2 supermarkets
Louhans:
Old town with beautiful arcades; the region’s largest market is held every Monday morning (including a livestock market); has all kinds of shops and restaurants. We like to go to the Spanish restaurant there (El Toro).
Dijon
Capital of the former Duchy of Burgundy; plenty to see all around. On Friday and Saturday mornings, there’s a large market in and around the market hall.
Parking: Dijon Dauphine parking garage in the heart of the Old Town. (The “No Through Traffic” sign on the last 50 meters does not apply to the entrance to the parking garage. The parking garage is very narrow; you must pay upon exiting at the pay station at the barrier using a debit card).
Chalon-sur-Saône:
Capital of the department, beautiful old town
Beaune:
Famous old town; the wine route from there via Chalon-sur-Saône to Tournus (via Gifry, Buxy, Cormatin) is also beautiful, then back via Louhans.
Taizé: For those who know it, not far from Tournus.
Lons-le-Saunier:
An old Jura town with beautiful arcades; in the Montmorot district, there’s a large Hyper U supermarket and, next to it, the Grand Frais produce market. Good restaurants (e.g., La Comédie or Brasserie Strasbourg in the theater building).
