Ruedi and Jasmine love their historic building, which they have renovated with great care and attention, located in the hamlet of Jerisberghof, a protected part of the town’s landscape. At the heart of the hamlet stands the venerable Althuus Farm Museum, dating back to 1703. And right across from it is the historic oven house that belongs to it. Upon entering, you stand directly in front of the two intact ovens dating from the early 18th century. During museum events and for family occasions—such as weddings—baking takes place regularly, and delicious “Chueche” (a type of tarte flambée) is served—sweet, with bacon, cheese, or plain.
The oven house was expanded in 1805 to include an additional floor and a mansard roof. This apartment is protected as a historic landmark and serves as a testament to rural life. Restored and featuring a thoughtfully integrated modern kitchen and bathroom, it blends tradition and modernity to create a cozy vacation home. On the balconies, you can enjoy a cup of tea and lose yourself in a mystery novel, the history of the Jerisberghof, or a medley of exciting experiences around Lake Murten, in the Seeland region, or in the Swiss capital, Bern.
